  Waschmittel.

  Laundry detergent.

Soap-like agents are known which are obtained by the action of phosphoric anhydride on higher monohydric aliphatic alcohols in inert solvents, the orthophosphoric acid esters formed being neutralized with alkali or an organic base after the solvent has been distilled off and added in this form to the washing liquor (DRP No. . 560916).

It has now been found that the pyrophosphoric acid esters of the higher molecular weight aliphatic alcohols, which one z. B. can be obtained by reacting pyrophosphoric acid with the higher alcohols or the alkali salts thereof have a particularly high surface activity, expressed by the reduction in surface tension in aqueous solution against air, and excellent foam retention. Accordingly, the pyrophosphoric acid esters, if need be in the neutralized state, are particularly suitable as detergents, foams, wetting agents and cleaning agents, in particular also for treating textiles.

The new detergents can be produced in the following ways:
1. 400 g of coconut fatty alcohol are heated to 900 and stirred into 180 g of pyrophosphoric acid, also heated to 90. The temperature rises to 110 and a violet-brown syrupy mass is formed which, while cooling, is dissolved in 80 g NaOH / 300 CM H; 0 is stirred in and neutralized.

The homogeneous yellowish-white paste obtained is almost completely soluble in alcohol.

   2,200 g coconut fatty alcohol are heated to 900 and in 540 g H4P20 heated to 95, a

The paste separates into two layers. The water is poured off and the yellowish-white paste is repeatedly extracted with hot alcohol. Very little alcohol-soluble ester has formed, which is cleaned with ether and then dried.

3,540 g of hardened sperm oil alcohol heated to 90 °, esterified with 180 g of pyrophosphoric acid, results in a product which is soluble in warm water.

 neutralized as above.
