Description

Exposure meters for cameras with a viewfinder camera.

The arrangement essentially consists of a photocell that is to be placed in a suitable location. In the exemplary embodiment, a two-lens camera with a horizontal film guide was chosen because the cell is easiest to accommodate behind the mirror. Constructions with vertical film guidance as well as chambers with only one optic require extensive reshaping of the housing. In the case of the last-mentioned chambers, the photocell would have to be arranged to be pivotable.

To determine the exposure time, the cell is swiveled in front of the recording level by pressing a lever and read on the measuring mechanism.

The photocell receives light through a fixed mirror, for which purpose the mirror covering has to be removed in strips (grid). The image designed in this way is exactly the same as that on the film j as well as the image projected through the mirror s onto the viewing screen n. The light value can be read through a reading opening a via a movable, drum-shaped scale b, which is to be calibrated directly in the exposure times. A simple diaphragm prevents permanent exposure of the cell.

Since part of the light incident through the viewfinder optics p is lost for viewing the image on the focusing screen n, the brightness should be maintained here by using viewfinder optics with a larger relative aperture. l is a magnifying glass for viewing the screen image.

The aperture rings of both optics p and o are to be coupled together. The recording optics o designs its image on the film j, which is moved horizontally and wound onto film reels i with a vertical axis. g is a pressure plate which is pressed against the film strip by springs A and which causes the film to lie flat. in is the tripod thread. The space t-can be used in part to accommodate any drying element that may be required.
