SehweissdraJit-LegierungMt.

SehweissdraJit alloyMt.
The subject of the present invention are welding wire alloys made of copper and zinc, which are given special, technically valuable properties by additives. The alloy
EMI1.1
than 1% of silicon, aluminum, nickel and phosphorus, in special cases also of silver, can be added. Copper-zinc alloys with a content of tin and silicon are already known per se.
The other specified metals have all already been alloyed with brass in order to obtain alloys with certain properties. In particular, besides silicon, phosphorus and aluminum are also known deoxidizing agents. An addition of nickel is already known, but it was done in much larger quantities, always over 1%. In contrast, the present invention is based on the surprising observation that when tin is present, the joint use of the additives mentioned in extremely small amounts makes it possible to vary the brass to a large extent and to adapt it to the various requirements that are placed on welding wires.
The very good melting properties also make the alloys according to the invention appear particularly suitable for use as welding wire, all the more so since they do not develop any smoke during welding.
The practical implementation of the inventive concept is to be explained in more detail in the following examples.

The alloy according to example 1 is particularly suitable for storage application welding, gives a good application with excellent running properties and wets the base metal so that good adhesion is guaranteed.
The alloy according to Example 2 is particularly suitable as a welding wire for fittings connections, since it is very plastic, flows and adheres well and has good hardness after melting.
The alloy according to Example 3 is suitable both for bearing welding and for soldering gray cast iron, with which it bonds very well.
