EMI2.1

EMI2.1
post-treated condition is characterized by the appearance of uneven gloss and cloudy stripes. If one adds 0 to 20% of the sodium xanthate of the phenylethyl alcohol to the same viscose and spins under exactly the same conditions, a silk is obtained in which all strands are perfect. A viscose with a saline maturity of 7% is understood to mean a viscose which can just be made to coagulate in a 7¸% NaCl solution, but not yet in a 7Y4% solution.
2. A viscose made from unripened alkali cellulose with 6-6¸% pulp, 6¸% alkali and a high viscosity gives a bath with 27% NaSO, 3% ZnSO and 11% HLSO4 in almost all practically possible tires Dull, unsightly silk. But if the viscose is given an addition of 0.25% fenchyl xanthate and 5% is spun when it is ripe, the result is shiny silk.
EMI2.2
normal shiny silk received.
4. A viscose as in Example 1, but with maturity 5 and a content of 0'4% borneol
EMI2.3
and 12% H2SO4 coagulated at 30-35. The resulting film is crystal clear after desulfurization, while without the addition only cloudy, almost opaque products are created.
The xanthates of aromatic, hydroaromatic, cyclic and heterocyclic alcohols used according to the invention can according to Bemberger and Lodther (report 23, page 213) and also according to Hermans (Rec. Des trav. Chimiques des Pays-Bas, volume 45, 4th series, 499, 1926 ) getting produced.
The borneol xanthate used in Examples 3 and 4 is obtained, for example, according to the following procedure:
EMI2.4
and converted into the xanthate, initially with cooling, later by boiling on a water bath under reflux, which precipitates as a white-yellow crystal mass and can be filtered off without difficulty and washed out with ether.
