Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   The precipitation of the rubber or the like can continue until it has reached the desired strength. The anode can be designed accordingly to give the precipitate the intended shape. In the case of vulcanized rubber milk, the object obtained by precipitation is immediately ready, in the case of commercial rubber milk it can be subsequently vulcanized in a known manner. The rubber milk may contain other chemicals or fillers, such as B. zinc oxide, sulfur or other vulcanizing substances, with or without accelerators, can be added to introduce the same into the precipitate.

   However, these additives must be such that they cannot cause premature coagulation of the rubber milk before or during the initial stages of precipitation.

  Any number of cells can be arranged in a known manner in series, parallel or combined circuit between the anodes or cathodes or between anodes and cathodes, always provided that the potential difference between the anode and the cathode of each individual cell is not enough to break down the water.

   The rubber or the like deposited on the anode is of homogeneous nature and free of pores which could be formed by the reduction or precipitation of gas that is formed at the anode.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for the electrolytic deposition of rubber or the like from alkaline rubber milk with the addition of an electrolyte which does not cause coagulation, under conditions under which the release of gases at the anode is prevented or the gases formed are bound, characterized in that the electrical current is generated by self-excitation without an external electrical power source, by immersing a suitable pair of electrodes in the mixture and electrically connecting them to the outside.

2. Embodiment of the method according to claim 1, characterized in that ma. N rubber milk, the alkalinity of which is reduced by the addition of ammonium chloride solution, is treated between zinc and carbon electrodes.
