Process for the production of an enamel frit.
The present invention is based on the finding that the colloidal properties or the colloidal components of an enamel frit-d. i. The fritted raw mixture of the enamel set-per se can increase with normal grinding on normal enamel mills by changing the composition of the enamel set and that a frit with such strong colloidal properties for enamelling, especially for the production of white-clouded iron enamel using gas opacifiers as white opacifiers, offers great advantages .
The use of such frits with strong colloidal properties has the advantage that it is easier to apply and discolouration is avoided in the case of gas cloudiness and, if the enamel is overburned, the reduction in cloudiness and the enamel surface that otherwise occurs due to boiling are avoided.
On which the invention is based, one can increase the colloidal properties of an enamel frit with normal grinding in normal mills by increasing the fluorine content in normal enamel sets. Normal enamel sets contain around 5% fluorine with an alkali to boron ratio
EMI1.1
double, so on z. B. about 10-12% fluorine, frits can be obtained in a colloidal state with a normal ratio of alkali to boric acid, but the fluorine is introduced in the form of fluorine compounds other than cryolite, conveniently in the form of silicofluoroalkali, such as. B. Silica fluorosodium.
The optimum is a fluorine content that is far above the normal fluorine content, i.e. i. about 5% fluorine-containing enamel sets, u. between the normal ratio of alkali to boric acid, the better the effect, the higher the fluorine content. However, the fluorine content is naturally limited by the fact that the meltability, the expansion coefficient and the gloss of the enamel must not be adversely affected. It is essential for the method according to the invention that the colloidal properties or the colloidal proportions of the frit itself are increased. The state corresponding to the invention can be easily ascertained. A measure of the higher colloidality is, for example, an increased viscosity, which after normal grinding with water is easy, e.g. B. can be measured by mobilometer.
Of the fluorine-containing substances, on which the invention is also based, especially the addition of silicofluoroalkali, such as. B. Silica fluorosodium, proven. When producing the frit or when fritting the raw materials, care must be taken that the fluorine does not evaporate. Enamels with a high cryolite content are known, but by increasing the cryolite content above the normal fluorine content, it is not possible to increase the colloidal properties of the frit, apparently due to the low dissociation of the cryolite at the temperatures used.
The process for increasing the colloidality or for increasing the colloidal components of the frit according to the invention has nothing to do with the usual additions of colloids, such as clay and opacifiers, and also nothing with changes in viscosity and the addition of adjusting agents.
