the longest setting time. So that the holding coil 15 is not switched on too early in this case, the relay 2 must have a shorter response time than the relay 1.
In Fig. 2 an embodiment for a protective device with underimpedance relay is shown.
Relays 1 and 2 respond in this case when the impedance of the fault loop falls below a certain value. If the fault is within the installation point of the immediately adjacent part of the system, then the impedance value drops to a minimum. Both relays 1 and 2 respond. The relay 1 actuates its contacts 9 and thus closes the excitation circuit of the trip coil 10. If the fault is in the next part of the system, only relay 2 responds and actuates its contacts 12, which close the circuit of the trip coil 10 via the contacts 13 of the timing relay 24 . At the same time, the circuit of the holding coil 15 is closed by actuating the contacts 12.
Even if the fault impedance then rises above the response value of relay 2, the shutdown process once initiated is carried out to the end. Only if the fault is outside the first and second part of the system adjacent to the installation site will none of the relays 1 and 2 respond. The power switch is only triggered when the timing relay 24 has actuated its contacts 14.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Selective protective device, in which the tripping circuit of the power switch depending on which of several resistance-dependent relays has responded with different sensitivity, is operated with different tripping times, characterized in that those relays (2) which control the tripping circuit with a delay, with a Holding coil (15) are equipped, which hold the relay (2) in their release position.
