  Device for cleaning steam.

The invention relates to a device for washing and cleaning steam, in particular for cleaning exhaust steam which is permeated with gasified oil.

It is known to purify steam by injecting water into it and then feeding the resulting mixture into a separation device, where the injected water is to be separated out together with the impurities. In a known design of this device, the separator is a centrifugal separator, through the walls of which the water is thrown outwards.

In contrast, in the device according to the invention, the steam, to which the water is added, flows through a bundle of tubes which is known to act as a splitter, the tubes being arranged vertically and dimensioned so that the steam exits the tubes at high speed and as a result, the oil and water particles are separated from the steam at this point and discharged together from the cleaner, while the cleaned and washed steam flows off in the opposite direction through a special nozzle.

In contrast to what is known, this means that the steam comes into intimate contact with the washing liquid for a long period of time in many individual streams and that all steam is uniformly under the action of the washing liquid during this time. This is not the case with the known devices, since the water is ejected as soon as it enters. At high steam temperatures and at high steam pressure, which lower the flash point of the oils, it must be expected that a large part of the cylinder oil gasifies when it enters the steam engine. However, gasified oil cannot be removed from the steam by mechanical separators.

With the large volume of steam, it is also necessary that the steam is evenly provided with washing liquid and intimately mixed with the washing liquid allocated to it for a long time and remains in contact so that this gasified oil can be absorbed by the washing liquid.

It should also be mentioned that it is also known to purify gases in that a washing liquid comes into intimate contact with the gas to be purified through mixing nozzles and then this mixture flows out in the form of a fine band against a liquid level in order to separate the dust particles.

Here, however, there is no fine division of the mixture into individual streams, which, as mentioned above, offers particular advantages for cleaning steam and for removing impurities that are difficult to separate.

In order to support the separation effect, guide plates (e.g. vortex strips) are expediently inserted into the pipes in a known manner, which wash and throw out the oil and water particles on the inner pipe wall and, on the other hand, by protruding from the pipes Make sure that this oil water is fed to the discharge opening for the water when it emerges from the pipes.

The pipes, which receive the finely divided steam water mixture, are arranged vertically so that gravity supports the ejection of the oil water particles. At the same time, the cleaned steam is allowed to flow upwards, so that the outer surface of the pipes also acts as a separation surface. Such a device is shown in Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawings.

The steam to be cleaned enters the mixing room z through the nozzle a, where water passes through it

In the pipes c, internals f are arranged for better mixing and washing (e.g.

Vortex strips), which cause the vapor to move inside the tubes and protrude as flat metal sheets from the tubes down to the bottom of the container in order to facilitate the separation of the liquid from the vapor at this point by diverting the liquid in the direction of flow. A separator k can be connected to the cleaner according to the invention in a known manner.

In Fig. 2 another embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown,
