   Beim Giessen einiger Metalle und Legierungen, beispielsweise gewisser Zink-und Aluminiumlegierungen, in Kokillen ist es wünschenswert, das gegossene Material in den Gussformen langsam erstarren zu lassen. Um eine langsame Abkühlung der Gussstücke zu erreichen, hat man bereits vorgeschlagen, Kokillen aus einem Metall oder einer   Metallegierung schlechter Wärmeleitfähigkeit, z.   B. einer Legierung von Eisen mit   20% übersteigendem Nickelgehalte   zu verwenden. Die Erfahrung hat jedoch gezeigt, dass die Verwendung solcher Kokillen für viele Zwecke der Technik noch keine befriedigenden Ergebnisse liefert. 



   Um die Abkühlung des Gussmaterials noch weiter zu verzögern, wird erfindungsgemäss eine Kokille aus einer Legierung von Eisen mit etwa   30%   Nickel verwendet, deren Wandungen hohl ausgebildet sind. Diese Kokille kann entweder als Ganzes oder in Teilen gegossen oder auch aus aneinandergesehweissten Platten oder Blechen zusammengesetzt sein.
