Process for the production of cylinders for embossing lenticular films.
The invention relates to a method for producing cylinders for embossing lenticular lenticular films, the surfaces of which contain screw threads of such a slight pitch that at least 25 threads per millimeter come. The invention consists essentially in that the helical groove produced by a cutting tool on the surface of the cylinder with the aid
EMI1.1
Polishing or abrasive material, smoothed and rounded.
The procedure can be carried out, for example, as follows:
With the help of a tool made of steel. Diamond or some other material of sufficient hardness is produced on the surface of the cylinder with a screw thread, the pitch of which is such ... that 25 threads or more arise per millimeter. Depending on the shape of the screw groove to be produced, the cutting edge of the tool is profiled or rounded or simply in the form of a rather blunt one
Wedge formed so that only little material needs to be removed during closer polishing with the wire.
After the original screw thread has been preserved on the cylinder. a metal wire calibrated to about 8/100 m. is stretched on a bow, coated with a suitable abrasive, for example English polishing red, and pressed against the cylinder while it is set in rapid rotation. The bow can either be stored on the lathe slide or simply held in the hand: in addition, it can be provided with several wires stretched parallel to one another.
Whatever the structure of the device, the wire is received in the original screw thread created with the tool on the cylinder. and due to the friction of the wire on the bottom of the groove, the abrasive gives the latter the exact shape of the calibrated wire almost instantly. It is then sufficient to change the contact point of the wire so that no deformation of the groove bottom is formed by the wear of the wire.
The method according to the invention is used in the manufacture of hardened steel cylinders,
Glass od. The like. Hard materials applicable, provided that the original view with the help of. of a diamond. The curvature is then only obtained by working. the with the
Abrasive coated wire.
