Towing device for connecting a motor vehicle with a single-axle trailer.
The subject of the present invention is an improvement of the uniaxial trailer for motorized vehicles according to your patent no. 111890. The device described there has the purpose of achieving a correct transfer or distribution of the load of the trailer on the tractor while ensuring the greatest possible freedom of movement between the two . This is achieved in that the towing device connecting the trailer to the towing vehicle on the one hand engages around the axle of the towing vehicle and on the other hand is connected to the trailer by a push-in piece serving to accommodate the towing axle end of the trailer.
The insertion piece and the member encompassing the axis are connected to one another in an articulated manner in order to be different
EMI1.1
By connecting the trailer hitch directly to the axle, the task at hand could not be completely solved, as the axle could not adapt itself sufficiently to the movements of the wagons and the trailer weight could not be transferred to the towing wagon in the right place.
However, the towing device according to the present invention should not only establish a connection between the towing vehicle and trailer for the purpose of pulling, as in the case of the parent patent, but also for the purpose of power transmission, in order to simultaneously or independently of the pulling movement of the engine

find their storage and be arranged so that they are coupled with the devices to be driven when the trailer is coupled into the trailer hitch.
In this case, the towing device must be mounted on the tractor axle or connected to it in such a way that the axle not only transfers the load to the tractor, but also prevents the vibrations of the axle from affecting the transmission or coupling - members are passed on. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the frame carrying the coupling element of the towing device, which at the same time forms the frame for part of the power transmission elements and their coupling with the devices of the trailer to be driven, is articulated by arms with articulated pieces that encompass the tractor axle is.
According to the invention, the joint connecting the arms with the articulated piece encompassing the axle is moved in front of the tractor axle in order to distribute the weight so that the tractor is pressed against the ground by the trailer. The power transmission links are between the towing curtains

wheels) on each other, by vibration of these individual links around pins, by twisting the links or their parts against each other or by z. B. can follow telescopic shift in one another without their transmission effect is affected.
An example embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown in the drawing.

The trailer coupling b is arranged on a frame a. With the frame and therefore indirectly with the coupling b, arms c which can be rotated around track pins 1, 1 are connected to which the bearings e which encompass the axle of the tractor are articulated by means of the bolts d. The bolt d is located in front of the tractor axle.
The drive coupling consisting of a polygonal hollow piece is attached to the same frame a parallel to the trailer coupling b and connected to it. This is connected to an axis k which is mounted in roller bearings g, h and carries a bevel gear i.
The bevel gear i engages in a double bevel gear m which is rotatable about the track pin l and displaceable on it, which in turn serves as an engagement element for a bevel gear o seated on an axis n. The axis n carries a further bevel gear p, which meshes with a bevel gear q, which again

Connection.
The end of the axis r carrying the bevel gear q, the bevel gear q itself and the bevel gear connection p (n) o are accommodated in a housing s, s' which consists of two parts which can be rotated one inside the other in the manner of perpendicular sleeves, of which the one s is connected to the frame a or to the arms c, the other to the axis r in such a way that when the height of the tractor axis or the bolt cl changes, the sleeves rotate into one another and the related gears p, q can roll over one another .

must learn, the axis consists of two mutually displaceable, but non-rotatable parts, z. B. by arranging a coupling sleeve.
Between the axis r and the bevel gear t there is a clutch (not shown) which is controlled by a shift lever a; can be pushed out or pushed in.
The method of operation of the trailer and the power transmission device that works with it is as follows: The trailer is coupled to the towing vehicle in such a way that a part provided with an expediently cylindrical extension, e.g. B. the traction axle end of the trailer, pushed into the tubular coupling part b and held therein by a pin which is passed through a hole in this part b, but is not prevented from rotating.
Simultaneously with the coupling of the trailer, the polygonal end of the drive linkage, which is held in the correct position by the vehicle, of a device to be driven on the trailer is pushed into the hollow drive coupling f.
During the journey, all of the named parts of the coupling and transmission device are now subject to movements, partly as a result of the load, partly as a result of the unevenness of the ground or the curves.
If there is a displacement between the trailer and the towing vehicle in the vertical direction, the bolt d or the joint piece e enables the trailer coupling to move vertically. The bevel gears q, p and t, u will roll over one another in that the guide sleeves s, s' or. the. Turn the corresponding sleeves on the shaft v into each other.
The necessary change in length of the shaft r, as a result of the various pivot points, is made possible by the parts of the shaft r itself which can be moved into one another. The movement in the horizontal plane that occurs when cornering is made possible by the vertical thrust bearings 1, 1 'and the rolling of the bevel gear i on the bevel gear 1n.
Twisting of the individual parts during movements outside the horizontal and vertical planes is counteracted by the rotatability of the coupling attachment of the trailer vehicle in the coupling sleeve of the trailer device and by the rolling ability of the wheel i on the wheel m.
