Process for the production of water guiding tunnels and device for venting the same.
Water ducts are z. B. required as a headwater line of hydropower plants.
Corresponding to the increasing size of all technical production, such tunnels are getting longer and longer.
Sometimes it is possible to create side tunnels through which the total length of the water-guiding tunnel is divided into shorter sections; this facilitates the drainage of the mountain water encountered in the tunnel and one of the main difficulties that are usually encountered in the construction of a tunnel is countered.
Often, however, the case arises. that such side tunnels can only be created at very large intervals or not at all due to the shape of the terrain; If the length of the tunnel is long, the rush of water can cause considerable obstructions.
Until now it has been customary to produce water guiding tunnels with a one-sided slope running from the water inlet to the water outlet side. There was therefore an upper, "falling" and a lower, "rising" tunnel segment between two neighboring points of attack for the production of tunnels. In the falling run, the tunnel falls from the mouth hole towards the tunnel breast, while in the rising run it rises from the mouth hole to the tunnel breast.
Mountain waters exposed in the tunnel are therefore closed to the respective job site when falling, while they flow away from the site when rising.
Until the tunnel breakthrough, the work in the falling tunnel is much more difficult due to the flow of water than in the rising tunnel.
While the mountain waters drain automatically on the rising slope, they have to be drained by artificial dewatering, e.g. B. with the help of pumps, lifted and transported out of the tunnel.
The longer the section of the tunnel between the two points of attack and thus also the falling section, the more difficult the drainage work becomes.
If there is a sudden, unexpected increase in the flow of water for which the drainage facilities are insufficient, or if the drainage facility suffers a disruption - e.g. B. if the electric current required to drive the pump is not available, the falling tunnels can completely drown. Such an event can not only make the excavation of the tunnel very much more expensive. but may even make it economically impossible.
Concerning a water conduction tunnel, which can be raised from both points of attack towards the center of the tunnel, there are justified concerns because of the inevitable air collections. Even when the tunnel is filled with water, it remains in the
Tunnels Amounts of air which are forced together along the tunnels' ridges in the apex of the longitudinal profile. In the course of operation, further air masses can then be sucked in at the point where the water enters the tunnel, which are also secreted in the apex. Finally, however, the process water itself excretes air that was absorbed in it. This accumulation of air in the apex can become dangerous

The invention relates to the production of water guiding tunnels with two ramps which rise approximately towards the middle of the tunnel. In doing so, the air that collects in the apex is expediently eliminated and its harmful effect is eliminated. The ventilation can be done in any way. The particular embodiment of the ventilation device according to the invention is independent of the shape of the terrain and therefore of the most general applicability.
The water can easily flow through such a tunnel if it is operated with full filling, ie as a so-called pressure tunnel, and is designed accordingly.
In the drawing, a, b, c represent the bottom and d, e) h) i the roof of such a water guiding tunnel. The tunnel rises from both a and c towards b. a, cl is the one and c. i the other point of attack for the production of tunnels. In the example shown, it is assumed that the water guiding tunnel starts at a, d from a storage basin and opens into a second water container at e, i; for the application of the process in question, however, this is not a fundamental prerequisite, but can. en at a, d or c, i just as well - without changing anything in the fundamentals - instead of the water basin, e.g.

Since the tunnel, as mentioned, has to work as a pressure tunnel, it must be arranged below the hydraulic pressure line. In the area of the apex e, h, air now collects initially when the tunnel is filled and later also during operation. To facilitate this accumulation, the tunnel ridge can be similar to the dome of a

connected to the outer air space by a borehole, a vertical or inclined shaft or by a tunnel) as indicated in the drawing by the opening g, r, and vented in this way.
However, this type of ventilation will only rarely be feasible because the tunnel usually runs too far from the surface of the terrain. In this most common case, the ventilation takes place through a pipeline laid in the tunnel, appropriately dimensioned and made of suitable material, as shown in the figure for example by s, t, u, v. At the beginning of the pipe s, the accumulated air, mixed with water, penetrates the pipeline and at the same time escapes at the pipe end v located at the corresponding altitude.
In order to keep the water loss small, a shut-off device can be attached at-t, by means of which the pipe cross-section can be throttled or the pipeline can also be temporarily closed off.
To increase the venting effect, a pump w can also be installed behind v, which sucks the air-water mixture out of the pipeline and ejects it at x. A pipeline x, y, z can also be connected to the pump in order to return the water sucked off with the air at l, m and to feed it with the other water for further use.
When emptying the tunnel, the pipeline or the pump can be used to support the emptying process by supplying air to the apex from the outside.
