  Bi-metal release with shunt.

Bi-metal strips are often used as thermal triggers, which when heated by current bending and thus cause a mechanical or electrical effect. The bi-metal strips can, for. B. can be used as a tripping device for overcurrent switches, whereby a delayed shutdown is obtained in the event of overcurrent. The bi-metals are expediently traversed by the main current, because this results in a current-dependent, delayed overcurrent release.

In order to cope with large overcurrent strengths, however, the bimetal triggers through which the main current flows are relatively thick and wide, and there is also the risk of melting through, since the bimetal consists of poor electrical conductors. So far you have helped yourself by
 EMI1.1
 will flow.

The proposal of the invention is now to make the bi-metals themselves more conductive by the shunt in the form of sliding metal is deposited galvanically on the bi-metal strip. This gives an inexpensive bimetal release with good elasticity and relatively small thickness for high currents.
