Schiffsform.

Ship shape.
The subject of the invention is a ship shape in which the frames are parallel to one another and are inclined at a certain angle to the horizontal. It has been shown that such ships are superior to the otherwise common types of ship in terms of their resistance.
It was previously of the opinion that with such ship shapes it was necessary to maintain the parallelism of the frames to each other throughout the entire ship, because this only seemed to guarantee the smooth water drainage on the outer edge, which is necessary for a low resistance. However, it has been overlooked that under certain circumstances, especially at higher speeds, disadvantageous phenomena occur which result in an increase in the ship's resistance. It has been shown that in such cases the stern sinks deeper than the forecastle, which results in the admonished increase in resistance.
These disadvantages are to be eliminated by the invention in that the frames of the forecastle lying parallel below each other enclose a larger angle with the horizontal than the one below

the one in the stern. This not only reduces the resistance in the water by preventing the stern from sinking deeper at higher speeds, but also dampens the pitching movements of the ship in the sea without affecting the other advantageous properties of the known Maier shape.
At f of the drawing, the invention is shown, for example, u. Between FIG. 1 shows a frame elevation and FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal elevation of the ship.

Lines represent the main ducks So of the ship. Line K is the ship's chin line. B, K and A thus form the main frame or master frame of the ship. In the forecastle, the frames Sp1 are parallel lines to K. And in particular the frames at the ends of the ship are unbroken, i.e. perfectly straight lines. In the stern, on the other hand, the frames Sp2 are lines parallel to Xi.

a smaller angle a2 than the frames Spl of the forecastle, which enclose the angle Mi with the horizontal, d. H. the bulkheads of the stern are flatter than those of the foredeck.
In order to prevent the formation of eddies, the sharp edges which form the bottom line-B with the chiming line K and the ship's side L1 are advantageously rounded off, which in turn results in a reduction in drag.
