Device for cleaning the air in closed rooms.
The invention relates to a device for cleaning the air in closed spaces' using a fan, in whose air flow the cleaning or fragrant
Liquid is introduced as a vapor and atomized by it. According to the invention, a tubular, electrically heatable evaporation vessel is used which is connected to a storage container. Due to this design, the amount of liquid heated is low, so immediate evaporation can be achieved after the start of heating, while after switching off the heating due to the cold liquid flowing in from the reservoir, the evaporation stops immediately and, moreover, a low power consumption is required.
To reduce the condensation in the steam lines as much as possible, the steam pipe coming from the evaporation vessel is placed on the housing of the fan motor, the heat of which is therefore given off to the pipe to reduce condensation.
In the known devices of a similar type, in which the evaporation vessel is also the storage container for the cleaning liquid, there is the disadvantage that after switching on the apparatus, it takes a long time before steam is introduced into the air flow generated by the fan, and that even after the Apparatus undesirably still steam escapes from the steam lines, which remains in the apparatus housing when the fan is switched off, condenses there and can cause the metal parts to rust.
With these known devices, the subject of the invention has the advantage of good air purification in the room concerned in common, without having the disadvantages mentioned.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown in section. A is a liquid container with a correspondingly large capacity, in the bottom of which a connecting pipe B opens, from which a steam pipe C extends which is provided with outlet openings for the steam at certain intervals. The entire device is enclosed in a housing G, which is provided with air passage openings on two opposite walls Li and L2, the air in the room in question being sucked through the housing G by a motor M driven fan V in the direction of the arrows drawn.
The tube B is designed as an evaporation vessel in that a jacket heater E, consisting of resistance wires surrounding the evaporation tube in a spiral, is wrapped around the tube with insulation on the outside. In order to reduce the condensation in the steam pipe C if possible, it is placed tightly against the housing of the motor M so that the heat given off by the motor housing during operation is fed directly to the steam pipe C. To reduce the outlet condensation of the steam flowing out of the openings, flange-shaped shields DI, D2 are attached to the motor housing on both sides of the steam pipe C, which also ensure a more uniform distribution of the steam emerging from the openings of the steam pipe.
A switch S switches both the fan motor and the heating element E into the circuit, thus putting the device into operation.

- Their mode of operation. Is' the following: The cleaning or fragrant liquid is poured into the storage container A and also enters the pipe B. When the current is switched on, the impeller V is rotated and the heating element E is heated, which gives off all its heat to the pipe B and, because of the small amount of liquid in it, causes it to evaporate immediately. The room air is sucked or pressed through the housing G by the fan V in the sense of the arrows drawn, it being possible for further cleaning filters to be interposed in the current path in the housing G in a manner known per se.
The steam flowing from the evaporation vessel B into the conduit C passes through the openings between the two shielding flanges Db D2 in order to be captured by the air flow at their edges, mixed with it by the fan, atomized and pushed into the room concerned. Because only that part of the liquid that is closest to the vent is heated in the evaporation vessel, resinification of the liquid, for example due to overheating, is avoided.
The device can naturally be designed as a wall, table or hanging device.
