Schleifmittelanordnung für die Sichelmesser bei Strangzigaretteumaschinen.
EMI1.1

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Abrasive arrangement for the sickle knives in straight cigarette makers.
EMI1.1
According to this invention, the object is achieved with structurally simple means in such a way that the contact between the cutting edge and the cutting means is achieved in a perfect way during the engagement of these two parts without cumbersome control means, the grinding means being structurally completely separated from the means for driving the sickle knife.
The invention consists in that the abrasive is moved in a circular path, the plane of which is perpendicular or approximately perpendicular to the plane in which the sickle knife moves, in such a way that when describing the circular path, the abrasive comes into contact with the cutting edge of the sealing knife comes that as a result of the rotational speed of the abrasive this remains in engagement with the cutting edge of the sickle knife.
Appropriately, two, four or more grinding means are attached to a disk-shaped or star-shaped carrier at a uniform distance from one another, which come into engagement with the correspondingly rapidly rotating sickle knife one after the other while describing their circular path.
In this case, the grinding means carrier is arranged to be displaceable and lockable as a whole in the direction of the axis of rotation of the sickle knife carrier and the grinding means are fastened to the carrier itself in a radially adjustable manner.
Especially when it comes to sickle knives that do not revolve in a plane, but
EMI1.2
Follow the strand feed direction with the strand speed during the cut, the abrasive holder is arranged to be rotatable about an axis which is arranged parallel or approximately parallel to the plane of rotation of the sickle knife and executes the circular movement, whereby during the engagement of the abrasive and sickle knife with the help of a control of the holder the axis of rotation is pivoted so that the abrasive remains in engagement with the cutting edge of the sickle knife.
The axis of rotation of the abrasive holder is expediently arranged on a continuously revolving disk or star-shaped carrier, while an extension of the abrasive holder rests with its roller-fitted end against a fixed control cam.
The drawing shows two exemplary embodiments of the new abrasive arrangement: FIGS. 1 and 2 relate to one exemplary embodiment. 3 and 4 relate to the other embodiment. In both cases, the abrasive arrangement is shown on the one hand in a vertical cross section with a partial view and on the other hand in a top view.
The sickle knife 1 (Fig. 1 and 2) is attached to the disk-shaped carrier 2, which sits on the shaft 3 and rotates in the direction of the arrow.
The abrasive carrier is rotatably placed on the vertical axis 4, which is inserted with the pin 5 in the bearing body 6. The bearing body 6 is attached to the horizontal table of the machine frame by means of screws 7 which pass through slots 8 in the bearing body. These slots are directed so that an adjustment of the bearing body can take place in the direction of the shaft 3 of the sickle knife carrier.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The abrasive carrier consists of a rotary star, the hub 9 of which surrounds the vertical axis 4 and at the bottom carries a chain wheel 10 which is driven by a chain 11 (FIG. 2) rotating in the direction of the arrow. The carrier is equipped with four arms 12 offset from one another by 900 each. Radial guides 13 are provided on each arm, in which the foot 14 of each abrasive holder J can slide. It is secured by screws 16 which pass through longitudinal slots 17 of the holder feet 14 so that each abrasive holder can be adjusted radially and fixed in the desired position.
The disk-shaped grinding means 18 in the exemplary embodiment is inserted into the holder part j! J rotates and places its end face against the sickle knife 1, in that the grinding tool 9 rotates in the direction of the arrow drawn in FIG.
As can be seen, each grinding wheel 18 describes a circular path and comes into engagement with the sickle knife 1 once. The sickle knife sweeps along the face of the grinding wheel 18. As a result of the circular movement of the grinding means, the end face of the grinding wheel 18 remains in permanent engagement with the cutting edge as the sickle knife passes, although this gradually springs back according to the sickle shape of the knife.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the sickle knife is again with 1, the sickle

movement in one plane, but makes a tumbling movement so that the sickle knife not only circles, but is also moved back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the shaft 3 in order to follow the cigarette rod in its feed direction at the feed speed when the cut is made .
In this embodiment, too, the bearing body 6 is present, in which the pin 5 of the stationary axle 4 is inserted. On the axis 4, the hub 9 of the abrasive medium carrier with the chain wheel 10 is provided, which is rotated by the chain 11 (FIG. 4). The disk 121 carries a vertical pin 19, which is inserted with its lower end 20 in a corresponding bore in the disk 121. On this peg
EMI2.2
becomes. The lifting disk 25 is attached to the upper end of the vertical axis 4 so that it can rotate.
Since the stationary axis 19 is attached to the rotating support 121, the grinding means (grinding wheel) performs a circular movement and the grinding wheel holder is controlled from the lifting disc 25 in such a way that the grinding means with the sickle knife also performs an additional movement. leads, which makes it possible that the end face of the grinding wheel always rests against the cutting edge of the same despite the wobbling movement of the sickle knife.
In this design, too, two, four or more abrasive holders could be provided on the carrier disk 121.
The circular movement of the grinding means enables a smooth operation, since the previously usual control by reciprocating slides, rocking levers or the like with the inevitable jolts is no longer necessary.
The circumferential speed of the rotating star 12 carrying the abrasive is adapted to the curve movement of the knife and at the same time also to the receding cutting edge of the knife.
If something changes in the curve movement or in the increase in the knife cutting edge, only the bearing blocks 14, which carry the abrasive, need to be shifted in order to adapt to the new conditions by changing the peripheral speed. In order to bring the grinding wheels back into the correct position in relation to the knife, the entire device can be adjusted transversely to the knife carrier axis with the aid of the displaceable base plate 8.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4 shows that with a small diameter of the star 121 a high circumferential speed can be achieved, while conversely, if necessary, the same circumferential speed can be achieved with a smaller number of revolutions due to the broad star according to FIGS. 1 and 2. The device can therefore be adapted to the operating requirements as far as possible.
