Fig. 3 und 4 geben in entsprechenden Ansichten bzw.

Fig. 6 und 7).
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Injection molding machine with pierced casting pistons.
The subject of the invention is an injection molding machine with a pierced casting piston which ends in the casting nozzle and which is carried along when the crucible and casting mold are moved from the suction position into the pressing position or in the opposite direction.
An injection molding machine according to the invention is therefore characterized by the elimination of the special casting pump drive, in that the casting pump, which is designed in a peculiar manner, is actuated by the mutual movement of the casting mold and the crucible on each other.
With an injection molding machine according to the invention it is therefore possible to work very quickly, furthermore its operation is very simple, and it is particularly suitable for the production of large quantities of smaller castings.
For the essence of the invention, it is irrelevant whether the crucible is stationary and the casting mold is guided against the crucible or the casting mold is stationary and the crucible is guided against the casting mold, since it is only essential for the operation of the machine that a relative displacement takes place between the crucible and casting mold, whereby the casting piston, which is slidably mounted in the crucible housing, is also displaced relative to the crucible and, depending on its direction of movement, presses the metal out of the casting cylinder space or allows it to enter the casting cylinder when it reaches its end position.
It is also essential for an injection molding machine according to the invention that the casting piston together
EMI1.1
it is arranged that when the casting piston is in the filling position, the metal extends almost to the mouth opening of the casting piston. In order to completely prevent air from flowing out of the through-hole of the casting piston into the casting mold during casting, the arrangement is made in an injection molding machine according to the invention that the inlet opening of the casting mold only hits the mouth opening of the casting piston after the casting piston has penetrated so far the casting cylinder is pushed in so that the metal is advanced to the mouth of the casting piston.
An injection molding machine according to the invention can be designed for purely manual operation, but a particularly advantageous embodiment results when the feed movement of the casting mold or the crucible is carried out by a power drive in the case of a stationary casting mold and the drive is activated by closing the mold and switches itself off again as soon as the mold has reached its starting position.
In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of an injection molding machine according to the invention are shown. 1 and 2 show an injection molding machine for manual operation in side view or in section and plan, and FIG. 1 a is a secondary figure to FIG. 1. FIGS. 3 and 4 show an injection molding machine for power drive in corresponding views or sections. 5 shows an end view of the casting mold frame and FIGS. 6 and 7 show details of the drive of a machine according to FIGS. 3 and 4.
In the injection molding machine shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a crucible e is rigidly attached to the machine bed or frame a with the drawn inclined surface b, while a frame d for the casting mold in the direction of arrow e back and forth along the surface b is movable. To drive the mold frame d is a conventionally designed lever linkage f with handle g, while a lever linkage l is used to close and release the two-part casting mold h, 7c, a lever m is provided for its actuation, so that when the lever m is actuated the displaceable half k of the casting mold h, k is moved back and forth in the casting mold frame il.
A casting cylinder n is recessed in the wall of the melting crucible c, into which the liquid metal can enter through the lateral openings o from the interior of the melting crucible when the casting piston p, which is displaced in the casting cylinder n, assumes the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, in which the mouths of the through holes o are exposed. The casting piston p has a through hole q and is equipped at its outer end with a flange r, which expediently leads in a hole v of the casting mold frame d. The inclined position of the casting piston p, casting cylinder n and the guide

and at the normal height of the metal level t in the casting cylinder, the casting metal in the bore q of the casting piston p extends almost to the mouth opening and the casting piston p.
Finally, a clamping device is provided on the casting mold frame d, which temporarily grips the casting piston p. This clamping device consists (cf. FIG. 5) of two bolts q ', which are mounted displaceably in two projections w of the casting mold frame d and lie against the casting piston p from the side. Two double levers 1);, y, which can be rotated in the, act against the ends of the bolts ru

The injection molding machine described works as follows: Before beginning

is open, the form h, k is first closed in the usual way by the hand lever m; In Fig. 1 it is assumed that the closure of the form h, k has already taken place.
The lever g is then turned in the direction of arrow 3, with the result that the casting mold frame d with the casting mold in

the pressure of the bolts q 'against the piston p ceases, and the casting piston p stops for the moment until the further forward movement of the casting mold frame cl the inlet opening 5 of the casting mold comes against the mouth opening M. of the casting piston p and now the casting piston p is carried along through the casting mold h, k in the direction of arrow 4 to the end position shown in the secondary figure la, in which way the metal is pressed from the casting cylinder n through the bore q of the casting piston p into the casting mold 7t.
After the end of the casting process, the casting mold frame cl is withdrawn again into the initial position shown in FIG. 1 by means of the lever g, whereupon the casting piston p is pushed against by the
EMI2.4
the game starts all over again.
In the embodiment of the injection molding machine shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the design and mutual arrangement of the crucible, casting pump, casting mold frame and casting mold is exactly the same as in the embodiment just described, only in this embodiment the casting mold frame is shifted back and forth no longer by a hand lever g but by a power drive by mechanical means.
A cam 6, which sits on a shaft 7 perpendicular to the displacement path b, is used to move the casting mold frame d to the crucible c, while a backward movement of the casting mold frame cl in the embodiment shown is a
EMI2.5
frame instead of inevitably by the cam 8 also take place by means of a spring, and it is expedient in any case to provide an auxiliary spring 9 for the return movement of the mold frame d. A parallel linkage 10, 11, 12 works together with the cam 6, the transverse bar 10 of which with a mass 13 constantly lies against the cam 6, as the spring 9 constantly seeks to pull the linkage in the direction of the arrow 14. A piston-shaped rod 15 is articulated on the crossbeam 12 and is connected to the rear wall. 16 of the mold frame is connected.
Both longitudinal bars 11 of the parallel linkage 10, 11, 12 are finally connected to one another by a transverse bar 17, which rests against the return cam disk 8 with a nose 18. When the shaft 7 is rotated in the direction of the arrow 19, the linkage 10, 11, 12 is first displaced in the direction of the arrow 4 from the initial position shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 and takes the mold frame cl with it against the crucible c, whereupon In the second half of the revolution of the shaft 7, the cam 8 brings about the return of the parallel linkage 10, 11, 12 and thus the casting mold h, 7c to the initial position, being supported by the spring 9.
The shaft 7 is driven by a bevel gear 20 from a longitudinal shaft 20 ′, which is rotatably mounted in the frame a of the injection molding machine and on the end of which a drive belt pulley 21 sits loosely. Between the drive pulley 21 and the shaft 20, a coupling is provided which has a bolt 23 protruding into a recess 22 in the hub of the belt pulley 27 under the action of a spring. This bolt 23 is normally in the retracted position shown in FIG. 3, in which a knife-like sharpened lever 24 retains the bolt (see FIGS. 6 and 7).
So that the bolt 23 can couple the pulley 21 to the shaft 22, it is therefore necessary that the lever 24 is swung up in the direction of the arrow 25 against the spring 26. A lever linkage is used for this purpose, the arm 27 of which is seated on the same axis 28 as the lever 24 and which is connected to an angle lever 30 by a link 29. An extension 31 of the hand lever m used to close the mold h, k engages the angle lever 30 (FIG. 3).
If the lever m is turned from the position shown in FIG. 3 in the direction of the arrow 32 when the mold is closed, the angle lever 30 is also rotated and the link 29 is displaced in the direction of the arrow 32 ',
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
which causes a rotation of the lever 27 and thus a pivoting up of the lever: 24. As a result, the bolt jumps into the recess 22 of the disk 21 and the shaft 20 'is carried along, which, as described above, results in a back and forth displacement of the casting mold frame d and thereby a casting.
After the shaft 20 'has made one revolution, a shoulder of the sleeve 35 containing the bolt 23 runs against a wedge-like arranged lateral surface of a shoulder 36 of the hub of the lever 27 and thereby displaces the lever 27 with its hub by a small distance in the direction of the Arrow 39 against the spring 38 on the bolt or the axle 28, which has the consequence that a coupling provided between the lever 27 and the lever 24 (Fig. 7) is released, and the lever 24 through the spring 26 with its knife-like The sharpened end is twisted downwards and thereby pulls the bolt z out of the recess 22 of the hub of the pulley 21.
The drive of the shaft 20 'is thus interrupted again and the casting mold frame remains in the end position shown in FIG. 3 until the drive of the shaft 20' is switched on again the next time the mold h, k is closed.
