Kokillen bereits in Vorschlag gebrachtes, leichtflüssiges Metall dienen.

Fig.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Centrifugal casting machines have become known in which the mold is formed from concentric tubes between which the coolant is located. The disadvantage of these arrangements be't? nd
EMI1.2
to withstand by centrifugal force as well as by vibrations. Thick-walled forms, however, are poorly grown due to uneven thermal stress.
The subject of the invention is a mold consisting of concentric tubes for
Manufacture of tubes according to the centrifugal casting process, which is characterized in that the inner tube forming the actual shape is relatively thin-walled and surrounded by a thick-walled jacket, with a mass that conducts heat well as well as means are provided between the jacket and casting mold some of the stresses exerted on the inner shape are transferred to the jacket.
In order to further reduce the stresses, a special version can be fixed
Molds that have already been proposed are used, liquid metal. The temperature of the
Form can be kept very high, quenching the poured into the form
Metal decreased.
The shape, which can be relatively thin-walled, is advantageously produced by centrifugal casting. It has been shown that such shapes, due to their peculiar internal structure, can withstand the heavy loads of centrifugal casting particularly well.
In order to provide a way out for the metal expanding between the mold and the jacket as a result of the heating, various arrangements are provided, in particular metal bellows which are suitable for receiving liquid metal. Special devices for cooling the jacket and mold are also provided. Precautions have also been taken to divert the air between the jacket and the mold into a special space.
Several exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing. 1 shows a schematic longitudinal section through a casting mold according to the invention, FIG. 2 is a cross section through the same, FIG. 3 is a longitudinal section of the foreign body, FIG. 4 is an end view of the same, FIG. 5 shows one on a larger scale Cross section through part of the molded body with the device for
Regulation of the pressure on the filler, which is located between the individual parts of the mold. Fig. 6 is a partial plan view of the device shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 7 shows, on a larger scale, in elevation, the means for regulating the expansion of one of the molded parts, and Fig. 8 is also a detail on a larger scale.
9-22 show casting molds and individual arrangements of those that relate partly to the centering and straightening and cooling of the inner mold, partly to the closure of the cavity between the inner mold and the jacket and the compression of the thermally conductive filler contained therein.
The inner mold is rotatably mounted in a container 10 about a horizontal axis. The rotary movement is communicated to the molded body by rollers 11, which sit on shafts 12. The container 10 is for receiving a cooling liquid, for. B. water, which can flow through the container constantly, as usually happens in the production of centrifugal casting, and in which the molded body is partially immersed, so that the outer surface of the same receives the desired cooling effect from the water.
The shaped body consists of an outer and an inner individual cylinder 13 and 14, made of suitable building material, the ends of the individual cylinders being expanded outwards, as indicated at 15, in order to form the socket end of the shaped body. The individual cylinders 13 and 14 are held at a distance from one another by means of a number of adjusting screws 16.
The space between the individual cylinders 13 and 14 is closed off at one end by a plate 17, which is attached to the individual cylinders for. B. by means of screw bolts. M is attached. The body is then heated and, with the plate 17 removed, is brought into a vertical position with the plate 20 facing downwards and a filler metal 19, e.g. B. lead, brought into the space in a molten state so that it completely fills it. The end of the molded body into which the filling compound 19 has been introduced is then closed by means of the plate 17.
The plate 20 is resiliently held in its position by screw bolts 21 in that a number of alternately arranged fixed and resilient washers 22 and 23, as shown in FIG. 7, are inserted between the screw heads and the plate 20. The inner surface of the plate 20 is provided with an annular projection 24 in which the adjacent end of the inner
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Part cylinder; M m is adjusted. As a result of the resilient washers, the plate 20, which tends to move upward in an end direction of the molded body, when the inner cylinder 14 is expanded by the heat of the metal introduced into the cylinder during the casting of a pipe, is offered a resilient resistance.
It is desirable that the filler compound 19 is an excellent heat conductor and melts quickly at a relatively low temperature so that, before the molten metal is brought into the inner cylinder of the cast body, the mold can be heated rapidly but moderately by means of gas flames in order to achieve the Transferring filling compound 19 into a liquid state, in which state the compound is a

is cooled.
Because a gap is provided between the individual parts of the mold and a molten mass is poured into the gap, the inner cylinder 14 expands
EMI2.2
the molds produced in this way stood up to all the processes of the
Pouring process without showing any signs of cracks or breaks. It should also be mentioned that the outer cylinder of the molding used in these experiments is made of a small
EMI2.3
the filling compound pours in the space between the individual parts in the molten state. In each of these depressions a transverse shaft 27 is arried in bearings, which carries a pair of swing arms 28 which carry weights 29 on opposite earths.
At the free end of each arm 28, a piston 30 is articulated, which protrudes into a channel 26. As the molded body rotates, the centrifugal force that occurs pulls the weights 29 outwards and the arms 28 rotate around their axis so that the pistons 30 move into the channels 26 and exert a pressure on the filling compound 19, which is caused by the introduction of the Metal to be cast has been melted into the mold. In this way, the formation of air bubbles when the filling compound 19 is melted is prevented and the heat generated during the casting process is uniformly distributed.
As FIG. 8 shows, one earth of the outer cylinder 13 is provided with an inwardly directed annular flange 31, which rests on the outer circumference of the inner cylinder 14, so that the space between the two cylinders. which does not extend over the entire length of the same. In order to rule out any possibility of the filling compound 19 leaking out of the space between the two cylinders and under the annular flange 31, the flange is provided with packing rings. 32 provided, which establish a tight connection between the two cylinders.
In this type of construction, the filler compound 19 can of course be applied from the opposite end of the molding, i.e. H. be introduced into the space between the two cylinders with the plate 17 and the plate 20 attached, the molded body being set up vertically with the plate facing downwards.
Such a mold is made in the following way:
The outer cylinder 13 can be made of cast iron or any metal by any casting process. The inner cylinder, however, is expediently manufactured by centrifugal casting in order to achieve a pore-free, dense, tough and similar structure, even when using narrow wall thicknesses and inferior or cheaper building materials such as cast iron. A molded body produced by this method costs only a fraction of the price of a mold made from the nickel steel that has hitherto been used extensively.
A further embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is illustrated in FIGS. 9-22.
The jacket 13 is, as FIGS. 9-13, 21 and 22 show, formed from short pieces of pipe, between the flanges of which annular or ring-shaped Fcdern f is arranged in recesses, as shown in FIGS. 14, 15 and 20 in views; in addition, as FIGS. 21 and 22 show, means are provided to cool the mold and to remove air particles from the cavity. For machines for the production of particularly thin tubes, in which the use of lead is not advantageous, are
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1
the bores 33 and openings 33a and 33b of the resilient supports f 'and f can flow through the cavity and at the same time through the inner part of the mold.
When liquid metal flows into the mold, it expands; between diameter and length. Due to its radial extent
EMI3.2
there must be flexible walls such as pistons, diaphragms, etc. Like. Which are inevitably moved by the expansion or by springs or other forces.
Trapped air is driven by the strolling force due to its lightness into the extension of the cavity at 34 (FIG. 22), because this part of the raw space is closest to the axis of rotation of the mold.
A particularly expedient arrangement is that a space g is connected to the open end of the space between the shell and the mold, which is bounded on the one hand by the mold 14 and on the other hand by the end of the shell 13 and is suitably tight and so closed and so large is that the mold and shell can move against each other.
The closure of the liquid metal to the outside can be done by a bellows formed from ring-shaped metal membranes according to FIG. However, a displaceable metal piston can also be provided (FIGS. 10 and 12), which is sealed by a stuffing box p 'and or p ". Instead of the piston seal according to FIGS. 10 and 12, cuffs b made of copper sheet according to FIG Using 16.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 22 strong disc springs 35 are attached to the sleeve end.
When the filler material expands, the space 37 increases, with the form 14 shifting somewhat axially. The springs 35 tend to press the mold 14 against lugs 36 on the shell 13, which are designed so that they do not interrupt the connection between the space 37 and the space between the shell and the mold.
But dire facilities alone are not enough; because the heating and cooling conditions and the resulting expansions and contractions are not even.
There are therefore still auxiliary devices that are operated by springs, weights or other forces independently of the heating. But in order for these to work in the intended way, resistance such as stuffing boxes, cuffs, etc. the like. cause, be avoided; The use of membranes or bellows which are assembled as such has therefore proven to be particularly expedient. Such arrangements are indicated at 27 in FIG. 1 and at d in FIGS. 10 and 12 and are shown enlarged in FIGS. 18 and 19.
In the jacket 13, a membrane is arranged at o (FIG. 19), which elastically closes the metal 19 surrounding the mold 13, the during circulation
EMI3.3
is transferred to the membrane o; the same arrangement is symmetrical in pairs with the common axis of rotation 27 in FIG. 18 and applied four times in FIG.
18 shows a bellows a composed of sheet-metal membrane rings, which is supported by a spring c supported against the jacket M by means of the starge e
EMI3.4
and 12 is in communication; These two figures show the use of this resiliently compressible bellows in a double, diametrically opposed arrangement, instead of which one can also use an embodiment that surrounds the jacket in a ring shape, provided that the cooling of the enclosed part of the mold is not too much impaired. In FIGS. 10, 12 and 19, a housing d is connected to the jacket 13 in order to protect the cylindrical bellows a and the metal enclosed in it from the action of the cooling water.
11 and 13 show similar arrangements lying on the outside at i and I, pistons being drawn only for the sake of simplicity, which now again surround the end of the casting mold in a ring shape. The associated cylinders are accommodated in the edge of the jacket 13, that is to say in a uniform body which is not subjected to different temperature and expansion conditions on the outside and inside and can accordingly be more easily kept tight against the piston.
One can also combine the compensating devices of one type and the other, as shown in the arrangement according to FIG. 9 on the left-hand side and in FIG. 17 on a larger scale. Here, for example, in the middle of the Mcmbranbalges n, the rod e 'with the spring o' engages, which is against the jacket J? J is based. Fig.
16 shows a similar arrangement with an annular piston q, which with a sheet metal mane b in an annular hollow cylinder on the one hand against the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Mold 14 and on the other hand is sealed against the flange of the shell 13 in order to compress the liquid 19 enclosed in the enlarged cavity g, the piston 9 being supported against a plate spring which is fastened to the mold 74.
When the annular piston q according to FIG. 16 is replaced by a membrane or bellows according to FIGS. 17, 18, numerous other design options arise, such as, for example, that the annular bellows n according to FIGS. 9 and 17 with the omission of the rods e 'and springs 0' in the manner of FIGS. 10 and 12 is combined with cylindrical bellows a or a corresponding annular bellows.
The loads on the mold 14 are transferred to the shell 13 by means of ring-shaped or sector-shaped springs f according to FIGS. 14, 15 and 20. These are designed in such a way that they rest alternately on the shell and the mold by means of protruding support surfaces, i.e. shell and mold only touch in certain points and have recesses to let the filler metal or coolant through. In addition, especially if they are made larger according to FIG. 15, these recesses bring about a certain resilience of the annular springs so that they can follow the expansions of the shape. In FIG. 20, an arcuate spring I'is shown, which is also shown in cross section in FIG.
For these springs, T-shaped recesses are provided in the jacket corresponding to their cross-section, in which the springs 1 ', f "are inserted in a pretensioned state. These springs also serve to secure the position of the mold within the jacket.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Casting mold consisting of concentric tubes for the production of tubes according to the
Centrifugal casting process, characterized in that the inner tube forming the actual shape is relatively thin-walled and surrounded by a thick-walled jacket, with a mass that conducts heat well between the jacket and casting mold, as well as means that partially absorb the stresses on the inner mold transfer the coat.
