Wasserdichtes Lager.

Waterproof bearing.
The subject of the present invention is a watertight bearing, which is intended in particular for sensitive machines such as electric motors that work under water.
In such machines it is of the utmost importance that not a drop of liquid penetrates the interior of the machine through the bearing.
The invention is essentially characterized in that a gas or air flow under pressure flows constantly outward between the shaft and the bearing shell and entrains lubricant present in a space below the shaft.
The flow energy of the gas or the air can easily be selected so that if the bearing is completely maintained and any liquid or liquid droplets are prevented from penetrating into the interior of the bearing, the bearing itself is lubricated in the manner corresponding to the respective requirements.
The invention also makes it possible to monitor the camp from a great distance, because the gaseous agent can be fed to the camp through long, thin-walled lines.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. It denotes: Fig. 1 a longitudinal section through the bearing along line A-B of Fig. 2; Fig. 2 a section through the bearing along line C-D in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a section through the air supply device.
The bearing housing 1 is filled with lubricating oil 2 up to a certain level. The outer bearing shell 3 has a recess in which a lubricating ring 8 rests which, by rotating the shaft, supplies the bearing with an amount of oil corresponding to its width. Between the bearing shell 4 facing the motor 13 and the packing 6 to limit the passage of oil there is a regulating ring 9, which is firmly connected to the shaft and throws the oil off so that it cannot penetrate through the bearing shell of the motor located inside the motor housing, whereby on 01 is saved. On the opposite side, the bearing is closed by a watertight packing 5 and a pressure nut 7 of the stuffing box.
The supply pipe 10 for the compressed air is sealed by a rubber sealing washer 11 and is connected to an air tank 14 through which the air in the bearing is kept under certain pressure by means of pistons. A spring-loaded piston can be used instead of the weight piston, or a specific pressure can be obtained by means of a compressor.
The outlet opening 12 is also completely sealed off and lies opposite the air inlet 10 so that the bearing can be easily blown out and thus cleaned.
The compressed air completely prevents the ingress of water both when the machine is running and when it is at a standstill, as the internal pressure is always kept slightly higher than the external water pressure. Due to the way in which the air tank 14 works, it is possible to check at any time whether the bearing is still tight or not.
