Protection plate for X-ray irradiation.
When using the X-ray device for healing purposes, it must be ensured that the radiation field is limited to the area of skin to be irradiated. If this were to be achieved by setting the light cone accordingly, the X-ray lamp would have to be equipped with an extremely complicated blinding system due to the variety of surface shapes, sizes and distances to be irradiated, the operation of which would take a lot of time and for this reason alone is practically out of consideration. One is therefore content with the coarse adjustment of the light cone by means of simple diaphragms and covers the edge of the field to be irradiated with plates or platelets made of lead or the like, which are sufficiently impermeable to the X-rays with the appropriate strength.
The preparation for the irradiation consists in that lead plates are lined up around the field and attached to one another with clips in such a way that the inner outline of the plates covers the edge of the area to be irradiated. Now the apertures of the X-ray machine are adjusted so that the light

The cone boundaries are controlled with the help of a linear rod, which is coated at its ends with fluorescent substances that are illuminated by X-ray light. The rod is placed between the light source and the surface to be illuminated and after the points where the lighting occurs, it is estimated whether the cone boundaries are correct.
The stick will of course be brought as close as possible to the area of skin to be irradiated to make it easier to estimate, but the possibility of incorrect estimates is by no means excluded, especially if it is impossible to put the stick on because of the location of the area to be illuminated. This deficiency is the known method

the treatment often has to be checked.
In the sense of the present invention, the previous control device can be dispensed with and control is further improved in that the lead plates used for the border receive a luminescent paint coating that either covers the entire phtte or is arranged in strips. In this way, the light cone is made directly visible on the skin and it remains visible during the entire duration of the treatment, so that one can see from a distance by looking at the luminous protective plates of the correct setting of the cone, whether the entire field is in the X-ray and whether no X-rays go beyond the protective plate
It has been shown that the fluorescent paint adheres well to the lead plates when a suitable binding agent is selected and does not come off when the plates are bent. The coating also proves to be advantageous from a hygienic point of view, as it prevents the bare lead (poison) from staining and makes cleaning and disinfection of the plates easier.
