Abstract
Esta invención se refiere a un método de electrodiálisis mejorado para preparar un aminoácido (p. ej., ácido iminodiacético) a partir de una sal del aminoácido (p. ej., ácido iminodiacético disódico) utilizando un proceso de electrodiálisis de membrana bipolar de dos compartimentos en el que por lo menos una porción de la corriente de producto de sal que comprende el aminoácido y una o más sales del mismo se recircula a la membrana bipolar de dos compartimentos. El proceso también comprende eliminar por lo menos una porción de la corriente de recirculación y fosfonometilar el aminoácido en ella. El proceso comprende además recuperar una corriente de producto de base y utilizar la corriente de producto de base para preparar la sal del aminoácido.
