Abstract
El presente invento se refiere a un método para realizar una banda de frenado de un disco de freno de fundición con una resistencia aumentada contra el desgaste y la corrosión que comprende las siguientes fases: a) realizar una banda de frenado de un disco de freno de fundición, preferentemente de fundición gris; b) sumergir por lo menos parcialmente a la banda de frenado en aluminio fundido mantenido en una temperatura predeterminada de forma que el aluminio fundido cubra por lo menos una área superficial predeterminada de dicha banda de frenado. La inmersión se prolonga durante un período de tiempo predeterminado a fin de permitir la difusión de átomos de aluminio en la microestructura superficial de la fundición con la consiguiente formación de compuestos intermetálicos hierro-aluminio en correspondencia con una capa superficial de la banda de frenado, generando de esta forma en el área superficial predeterminada de la banda de frenado una capa constituida de compuestos intermetálicos hierroaluminio. El método comprende además las fases: c) extraer la banda de frenado del aluminio fundido; d) remover el aluminio que quedó adherido sobre la banda de frenado luego de la extracción a fin de exponer en la superficie a la capa de compuestos intermetálicos hierroaluminio. La capa de compuestos intermetálicos hierro-aluminio expuesta en la superficie le otorga a la banda de frenado de fundición una resistencia superior contra la corrosión y el desgaste en correspondencia con el área superficial predeterminada.
