Abstract

Se refiere a una un proceso sustentable de producción conjunta de hierro y de energía donde se usa madera como el único combustible, agente reductor y agente carburizante, y donde toda la madera es puesta dentro del alto horno. Alternativamente, un proceso de carbonización continua de la madera que se logra al cargar en un horno exclusivamente madera tratada térmicamente y suministrando los gases a la temperatura necesaria para iniciar el proceso de carbonización, obteniendo así carbón de leña como producto final.
