La presente provee un método para reducir el estrés abióticos en una planta Poacea recombinante, que comprende tratar una planta Poacea recombinante en la que se ha introducido un ADN que comprende una secuencia de nucleótidos que codifica la secuencia de aminoácidos de una proteína de shock por frío, y/o un área de crecimiento de la planta, con ácido abscísico.
