Abstract

Procedimiento para la producción de azúcares a partir de biomasa que incluye al menos un polisacárido, que consiste en poner en contacto dicha biomasa con una solución acuosa de al menos un ácido orgánico, a una temperatura superior o igual a 160sC, preferentemente, a una temperatura que oscila entre 160sC y 230sC. Los azúcares obtenidos se pueden utilizar, ventajosamente, como fuentes de carbón en procesos de fermentación para la producción de alcoholes (por ejemplo, etanol, butanol). Dichos alcoholes se pueden utilizar ventajosamente como biocombustibles para vehículos automotores, o como componentes que se pueden agregar a los combustibles para vehículos automotores.
