Abstract

Un proceso y un aparato para licuar una porción de una corriente de gas natural. El proceso consiste en enfriar bajo presión la corriente de gas natural y dividirla en una primera corriente y una segunda corriente. Enfriar la primera corriente, expandirla a una presión intermedia, y suministrarla por un punto de alimentación inferior de una columna de destilación. Expandir la segunda corriente a la presión intermedia y dividirla en dos porciones. Enfriar una porción y luego suministrarla por un punto de alimentación a mitad de la columna de destilación; la otra porción se utiliza para enfriar la primera corriente. El producto del fondo proveniente de dicha columna de destilación contiene preferentemente la mayor parte de todos los hidrocarburos más pesados que el metano que de otra manera reducirían la pureza del gas natural licuado, de tal manera que el vapor de cabeza proveniente de la columna de destilación esencialmente solo contenga metano y componentes más livianos. Enfriar y condensar este vapor de cabeza, y suministrar una porción de la corriente condensada por un punto de alimentación superior de la columna de destilación para servir como reflujo. Expandir a baja presión una segunda porción de la corriente de condensado para formar la corriente de gas natural licuado.
