Abstract

The electrolyser system is electrically powered from the vehicle's battery and only consumes water. In a preferred embodiment, a pair of similar electrolysis batteries, mounted in the engine compartment of a vehicle, generates a gaseous mixture of hydrogen and oxygen that is distributed, independently, to the corresponding input ports at two strategically selected locations in the vehicle air intake system; one in the intake manifold (tap) and the other in the main air intake duct leading to the intake manifold. A disconnecting coupling (circuit breaker) in the check valve of each gas distribution hose that serves as the safety feature of the flame-back interceptor, and facilitates maintenance.
