Abstract
Una composicion moldeable con bajo contenido de agua produce productos fundidos con un mayor modulo de ruptura, mayor resistencia al aplastamiento en frío, y menor porosidad. La composicion emplea fracciones cerradas de partículas constituyentes con poblaciones y. espacios específicos en la distribucion de tamano de las partículas, con el fin de generar estas propiedades. La composicion es adecuada para aplicaciones refractarias. Reivindicacion 1: Una formulacion moldeable caracterizada porque produce, cuando es fundida con un contenido de agua de 2,8% en peso o menos, un producto fundido con una porosidad igual o menor que 15% en volumen cuando se mide a 230 grados F. Reivindicacion 14: Una composicion moldeable de acuerdo a cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1-13, caracterizada por una fraccion de granos refractarios más gruesos que comprende por lo menos 50% en peso de la formulacion seca, en tanto la fraccion de granos refractarios más gruesos está separada de una fraccion de granos más pequenos por un espacio que tiene una relacion de diámetro de partícula más grande a diámetro de partícula más pequeno de por lo menos la raíz cuadrada de 2. Reivindicacion 29: Un método de produccion de un producto fundido, caracterizada porque comprende, (a) proveer un molde que posee una cavidad que corresponde al tamano y forma de la estructura, (b) llenar la cavidad con una composicion moldeable de acuerdo a cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1-27, c) opcionalmente someter la composicion moldeable de la presente a compactacion y/o vibracion, (d) curar la composicion moldeable para obtener una forma o estructura fundida, y (e) separar el molde de la forma o estructura fundida.
