Abstract

Un sensor para detectar la presencia de bacterias en un alimento perecedero incluye una solucion sensible al pH de azul bromotimol y rojo metilo mezclada con un álcali, lo que da lugar a un valor de pH y al cambio de un color generalmente verde a un color generalmente anaranjado en respuesta a la exposicion a una concentracion de dioxido de carbono. La solucion está envasada en un envase permeable a los gases utilizando una película de TPX (PMP), lo que da lugar a la difusion eficaz del dioxido de carbono a través del envase. el nivel de pH cae al entrar en contacto el dioxido de carbono ácido con la solucion como resultado de la formacion de ácido carbonico, lo que hace que la solucion sea un indicador de la concentracion de dioxido de carbono y, por ende, un indicador del desarrollo de bacterias.
