Abstract

Un proceso de cristalizacion que comprende hacer pasar una masa de polímero cristalizable amorfo que tiene un primer espesor (pe) a través del espacio de mordiente de rodillos contra-rotativos que tienen un espacio de mordiente (em) en una relacion de pe:em de por lo menos 1.2 para cristalizar el polímero hasta un grado de cristalinidad de por lo menos 15% y producir de ese modo un polímero semi-cristalino y particular el polímero semi-cristalino. La cristalizacion por deformacion de una lámina o fibra utilizando un paso de tiraje para elongar la lámina o fibra ya no resulta necesario. Un alto grado de cristalinidad es impartido casi instantáneamente, aun en copoliésteres de lenta cristalizacion. El proceso permite extruir una lámina cristalizable más delgada, que retiene sustancialmente el ancho dimensional de la lámina a medida que se hace pasar a través de los rodillos de compresion, y produce una lámina y pellets sustancialmente opticamente transparentes. Los polímeros adecuados incluyen homopolímeros o copolímeros de tereftalato de polietileno o naftalato.
