Abstract
La presente se refiere a una planta transgénica que comprende un ácido nucleico que codifica una proteína resistente a un inhibidor de la biosíntesis de carotenoides (CBIRP), en donde la expresion del ácido nucleico que codifica CBIRP en la planta da por resultado un aumento de la resistencia a un compuesto inhibidor de la biosíntesis de carotenoides (CBI), comparado con una variedad de tipo salvaje de la planta. También se proveen métodos para controlar malezas en la cercanía de estas plantas. La presente también provee productos agrícolas, incluyendo semillas, producidas por las plantas transgénicas. También se proveen CBIRP aislados, ácidos nucleicos codificadores de CBIRP aislados y vectores y células huésped que contienen los ácidos nucleicos codificadores de CBIRP. Reivindicacion 1: Una célula de la planta transgénica que comprende una biosíntesis de proteína resistente a inhibidor de carotenoides (CBIRP) codificadora de un ácido nucleico.
