Abstract

Se revela un método apra preparar espuma de carbon, que implica pirolizar por lo menos un material pirrolizable en la presencia de una cantidad suficiente de por lo menos una fuente oxidante. El material pirolizable, o los productos de su descomposicion, pueden proveer el combustible, o puede utilizarse un combustible separado. El material pirolizable la fuente oxidante y opcionalmente una fuente combustible pueden ser introducidas en cualquier combinacion. También se describe la espuma de carbon resultante preparada mediante este procceso. Además la espuma de carbon hecha mediante este proceso puede ser utilizada en una variedad de aplicaciones finales que incluyen electrodos, materiales de aislacion térmica, polímeros, elastomeros y similares.
