Abstract

Una cubierta de empalme en línea para empalmar dos cables híbridos de fibras y conductores de senales que incluye un alojamiento externo que tiene extremosopuestos primero y segundo para recibir respectivos extremos de los cables. La cubierta de empalme preferiblementeincluye por lo menos unempalme opt ico para conectar fibras opticas de los cables primero y segundo, y un soporte de fibras opticas envuelto alrededor de unasuperficie externa del tubo organizador para sostener el al menos un empalme optico y porciones flojas de fibraoptica adyacente s. El tubo organizadorpreferiblemente tiene un diámetro predeterminado y el soporte de fibras opticas preferiblemente sostiene las porciones flojas de fibra optica de manera de noexceder su mínimo radio de curvatura. El tuboorganizador preferiblemen te tiene un surco que se extiende longitudinalmente en una porcion de superficie externapara recibir tubos de amortiguacion de los cables. El soporte de fibra optica puede comprender un sustrato flexible para soportar lasfibras. El sustratoflexible puede comprender un cuerpo de material flexible comprimible que tiene forma discoidal u ovalada y que tiene cortes que se extienden radialmente pararecibir porciones flojas de fibra optica. El sustrato flexible puedeincluir, alternativamente, porcio nes de guía formadas integralmente.
