Abstract

Un método para formar una derivación en un punto intermedio de un cable coaxil contínuo 1000 que comprende un conductor interno 1010, dieléctrico 1020que rodea al conductor interno, y un conductor externo 1002 que rodea al dieléctrico, comprendiendo el método las etapas de: formar una abertura en elconductor externo del cable coaxil; formar una cavidad en el dieléctrico, debajo de la abertura; montar un inserto de derivación 22 en el cable coaxilcomprendiendo el inserto de derivación, una cubierta del inserto de derivación, un conjunto acoplador soportado por la cubierta de inserto de derivación,teniendo el conjunto acoplador por lo menos una de las siguientes características: puede extraer senales del conductor central, puede insertarsenales en el conductor central, puede extraer energía del conductor central, y puede insertar energía en el conductor central; y medios para montar el insertode derivación en un alojamiento de derivación de cable coaxil; ycolocar el conjunto acoplador en la cavidad. Un conjunto de derivación, apropiado para serusado en el método comprende un alojamiento de derivación 100 y un inserto de derivación. El alojamiento de derivación comprende una primera porciónextrema, una segunda porción extrema, una porción intermedia que tiene una ranura o rebajo 14; medios para fijar el alojamiento alrededor de un puntointermedio sobre un cable coaxil contínuo; un elemento alineador 512 que tiene una relación espacialpredeterminada con la ranura; y medios para montar uninserto de derivación en la ranura. El inserto de derivación incluye un conjunto acoplador de senales montado sobre un placa base y medios para proveerentrada y/o salida de RF y/o energía.
