PRINTERS COMPOSING-STICK.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 15,358, dated July 15, 1856.
To @ZZ 'whom/t may concern:
lBe it known that I, OLIVER F. GROVER, of Middletown, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement on Printers Composing-Sticks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this spec-ification, in which- Figure I is a face View; Fig. II a side View showing the back of the slide and side of the clasp; Fig. III a view of the end of the slide with clasp raised; Fig. IV a View of the face of the slide with clasp raised.
The whole to be made of iron, brass, steel or any other desirable metal or composition of metals.

The operation of this instrument is simply this: The slide B is pressed closely against the bed by means of the guide C and is secured at whatever point desired by the clasp D, which arrangement of moving the slide B the whole length of the bed A without obstruction and setting the slide B in any place on the bed A wherever desired and securing itA (the slide) in its place when set by shutting down of the clasp D.
Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure Letters Patent, is-
The application to the composing-stick of the guide C to prevent the slide B and the bed A from separating while adjusting the composing-stick, and the clasp D to secure and hold the slide B in its place on A when adjusted, as herein described, using for that purpose the aforesaid guide C and the clasp D, or any other substantially the same, and which will produce the intended effect.`
