Abstract

931,525. Television. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 10, 1960 [Nov. 20, 1959], No. 38718/60. Class 40 (3). " Drop-out " in video signals derived from a magnetic recording (i.e. loss of signals due to pin-holes &c.) is compensated by substituting, during " drop-out " periods, signals from corresponding portions of a preceding or succeeding line. Fig. 2 shows an embodiment of the invention in which video signals comprising a frequency or phasemodulated carrier derived from a magnetic record are supplied, via amplifier 6, over a direct path and over a path including a delay device 7 (introducing a delay of one scanning line period) and amplifier 8, to an electronic switch 9, which is operated by a switching signal from a device 10, responsive to " drop-out " of video signals from amplifier 6, to change-over the connection of the output circuit, supplying limiter amplifier 11 and discriminator 12, from one input path to the other. In this manner the " drop-out " is compensated by the addition of video signals from corresponding portions of the preceding line if the change-over is from the direct-path to the path including the delay device 7 whilst, if the change-over is from the latter to the former path, the compensation is effected by signals from the succeeding line.
