[Also in Group XXIX] A nozzle which may assume various crosssectional shapes, for the extraction of dust, swarf, fumes &c. in manufacturing processes, is of flexible and preferably impermeable material which is bonded to, or within which is embedded, a ductile member. In Fig. 1 a ductile sleeve C of woven wire or perforated metal sheet is embedded in polyvinyl chloride A, or natural or. synthetic rubber. The ductile member may also comprise a length of thin metal tape wound into a tapering helix. In Fig. 4 the nozzle consists of overlapping frusto-conical telescoping sleeves a<SP>1</SP>-a<SP>4</SP> of the kind described.
