1495704 Containers with lever plug lids METAL BOX Ltd 12 Dec 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 58093/73 Heading B8T A metallic container and lever plug lid utilize a circumferential line contact whereby lid pivoting during withdrawal is facilitated. The plug comprises a circular bottom 11 joined to a flange 7 by a side wall 3 that includes an outwardly convex annular portion 3B that provides the line contact and which is joined to the flange by an annular portion which is radially inward of the convex portion. In modifications the convex portion is part way up the side wall, Fig. 5, or formed as a curl 16b, Fig. 7, which is connected to flange 16c by annular portion 26. The lids of Fig. 5 may be stacked.
