Abstract

Frictionally seated lids and covers; closures completed by cement.-The upper end of a can body 1, Fig. 4, is provided with an annular exterior trough 2 adapted for the reception of an annular exterior trough 4 formed on the lid 5, the outer wall 3 of the trough 2 extending upwards between the outer wall of the trough 4 and a downwardly extending flange 7 formed thereon. To effect the closure of the can, the body and lid and the troughs are pressed into close engagement with each other as shown in Fig. 5. Wax or other sealing material may be disposed in the trough 2 on the body of the container. The trough 2 on the can extends outwardly and downwardly from the upper edge thereof and the floor of the lid is of less diameter than the interior of the can to adapt it to be inserted therein to its full depth which is slightly greater than the distance that its trough 4 extends downwardly.
