Abstract

[Also in Division H4] In a magnetron circuit producing a frequencymodulated pulse a shifter of the phase of reflected signals may be a device in which a plasma is moved along a waveguide magnetically or electrically. In one embodiment two plasma devices 5, 6 with a common drive produce effective waveguide terminations in the same plane. An alternative phase shifter may incorporate a ferrite ring circumferentially magnetized by a current pulse (see " British Communications and Electronics," June 1964, page 398 et seq.). The plasma or ferrite phase shifter may be on the arm of a coupler in the waveguide output of the magnetron.
