Abstract

1450802 Microwave circulators SIEMENS AG 11 Oct 1973 [30 Oct 1972 (2)] 47433/73 Heading H1W A microwave circulator with connection arms formed as an integrated circuit and connected at a junction adjacent a plate 2 of gyromagnetic material subject to a constant magnetic field produced by a permanent magnet 4, the plate 2 being surrounded by a ceramic plate 1 one side of which carries the connection arms and the other of which is uniformly metallized, the permanent magnet 4 being on the former side and being provided with a magnetic yoke 6. Polepieces 3, 3<SP>1</SP> can be provided and one of these can be used as the junction. The polepieces can be silver-plated and preferably have a coefficient of expansion approximately the same as that of the plate 1. A sleeve 5 of magnetic material of low Curie point can be arranged around magnet 4 to act as a shunt at low temperatures and progressively less so at higher temperatures to provide temperature compensation. The circulator can be housed in a metal casing (11, 12) Fig. 2 (not shown) with a conductive spring connection therebetween.
