Abstract

耐電力性を高くすることができる、フィルタ装置を提供する。 本発明のフィルタ装置1は、圧電体層6を含む圧電性基板2を有し、圧電体層6上に設けられているIDT電極7をそれぞれ有する複数の弾性波共振子を備える。IDT電極7は複数の電極指を有する。複数の電極指が延びる方向を電極指延伸方向、電極指延伸方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向としたときに、隣り合う電極指同士が電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域が交叉領域である。交叉領域の電極指延伸方向に沿う寸法が交叉幅である。複数の弾性波共振子は、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子S1a,S1b,S2a,S2b,S3a,S3b,S4と、少なくとも1つの並列腕共振子P1a,P1b,P2a,P2b,P3a,P3b,P4a~P4dとを含む。少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子S2a,S2b,S3a,S3bの交叉幅が、全ての並列腕共振子P1a,P1b,P2a,P2b,P3a,P3b,P4a~P4dの交叉幅よりも狭い。

Description

フィルタ装置
 本発明は、複数の弾性波共振子を有するフィルタ装置に関する。
 従来、弾性波共振子を有するフィルタ装置が、携帯電話機などに広く用いられている。近年においては、下記の特許文献1に記載のような、水平剪断音響モードを用いた複数の共振器を有するフィルタデバイスが提案されている。このフィルタデバイスにおいては、複数の共振器は、直列腕共振器及びシャント共振器を含む。
 特許文献1における複数の共振器はそれぞれ、圧電プレート上にIDT(Interdigital Transducer)が設けられていることにより構成されている。なお、圧電プレートは基板上に設けられている。より具体的には、基板にはキャビティが形成されている。圧電プレートは、キャビティ上を通るように、基板に懸架されている。
 IDTは複数のフィンガーを有する。隣り合うフィンガー同士は、互いに異なる電位に接続される。隣り合うフィンガー間に交流電圧を印加することにより、水平剪断音響モードとしての、厚み滑りモードのバルク波が励振される。

 特許文献1に記載のようなフィルタデバイスの各共振器においては、厚み滑りモードのバルク波などの弾性波が励振されると共に、熱が生じる。より具体的には、圧電プレートにおける、弾性波が励振される領域が熱源となる。これらの熱源付近は空洞部に面している。これに起因して、熱が外部に放出され難く、各IDTの温度が過度に高くなるおそれがある。そのため、上記のフィルタデバイスにおいては、耐電力性を十分に高くすることは困難である。
 本発明の目的は、耐電力性を高くすることができる、フィルタ装置を提供することにある。
 本発明に係るフィルタ装置は、圧電体層を含む圧電性基板を有し、前記圧電体層上に設けられているIDT電極をそれぞれ有する複数の弾性波共振子を備え、前記IDT電極が複数の電極指を有し、前記複数の電極指が延びる方向を電極指延伸方向、前記電極指延伸方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向としたときに、隣り合う前記電極指同士が前記電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域が交叉領域であり、前記交叉領域の前記電極指延伸方向に沿う寸法が交叉幅であり、前記複数の弾性波共振子が、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子と、少なくとも1つの並列腕共振子とを含み、少なくとも1つの前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が、全ての前記並列腕共振子の前記交叉幅よりも狭い。
 本発明に係るフィルタ装置によれば、耐電力性を高くすることができる。

 以下、図面を参照しつつ、本発明の具体的な実施形態を説明することにより、本発明を明らかにする。
 なお、本明細書に記載の各実施形態は、例示的なものであり、異なる実施形態間において、構成の部分的な置換または組み合わせが可能であることを指摘しておく。
 図1は、本発明の第1の実施形態に係るフィルタ装置の回路図である。
 フィルタ装置1はラダー型フィルタである。フィルタ装置1は、第1の信号端子11A及び第2の信号端子11Bと、複数の弾性波共振子とを有する。本実施形態においては、第2の信号端子11Bはアンテナ端子である。アンテナ端子はアンテナに接続される。なお、第2の信号端子11Bは、必ずしもアンテナ端子ではなくともよい。
 複数の弾性波共振子は、複数の直列腕共振子と、複数の並列腕共振子とを含む。本実施形態において、複数の直列腕共振子は、具体的には、直列腕共振子S1a、直列腕共振子S1b、直列腕共振子S2a、直列腕共振子S2b、直列腕共振子S3a、直列腕共振子S3b及び直列腕共振子S4である。複数の並列腕共振子は、具体的には、並列腕共振子P1a、並列腕共振子P1b、並列腕共振子P2a、並列腕共振子P2b、並列腕共振子P3a、並列腕共振子P3b、並列腕共振子P4a、並列腕共振子P4b、並列腕共振子P4c及び並列腕共振子P4dである。
 回路構成上、第1の信号端子11A及び第2の信号端子11Bを直列腕が結んでいる。各直列腕共振子は直列腕に配置されている。一方で、直列腕及びグラウンド電位を、複数の並列腕が結んでいる。各並列腕共振子は並列腕に配置されている。なお、本発明においては、フィルタ装置における複数の弾性波共振子は、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子と、少なくとも1つの並列腕共振子とを含んでいればよい。
 以下において、本実施形態のフィルタ装置1の具体的な構成を示す。
 図2は、第1の実施形態に係るフィルタ装置の略図的平面図である。図2においては、後述するIDT電極を、矩形に2本の対角線を加えた略図により示している。図2以外の略図的平面図においても同様である。
 フィルタ装置1は圧電性基板2を有する。圧電性基板2は圧電性を有する基板である。具体的には、圧電性基板2は圧電体層6を含む積層基板である。もっとも、圧電性基板2は、圧電体層6のみからなる基板であってもよい。
 圧電体層6は、例えば、LiNbOなどのニオブ酸リチウムからなっていてもよく、あるいは、LiTaOなどのタンタル酸リチウムからなっていてもよい。なお、本実施形態では、圧電体層6はニオブ酸リチウムからなる。本明細書において、ある部材がある材料からなるとは、弾性波共振子の電気的特性が大きく劣化しない程度の微量な不純物が含まれる場合を含む。
 圧電体層6は第1の主面6a及び第2の主面6bを有する。第1の主面6a及び第2の主面6bは互いに対向している。圧電体層6の第1の主面6aには、第1の信号端子11A、第2の信号端子11B及び複数のグラウンド端子12が設けられている。グラウンド端子12はグラウンド電位に接続される端子である。上記の各端子は電極パッドとして構成されている。もっとも、上記の各端子は配線として構成されていてもよい。
 圧電体層6の第1の主面6aには、複数のIDT電極7が設けられている。これにより、複数の弾性波共振子が構成されている。すなわち、複数の弾性波共振子はそれぞれIDT電極7を有する。そして、複数の弾性波共振子は同じ圧電性基板2及び圧電体層6を共有している。図3を参照して、本実施形態における弾性波共振子の具体的な構成を示す。
 図3は、第1の実施形態における弾性波共振子を示す模式的平面図である。なお、図3においては、他の弾性波共振子を省略している。
 図3に示す弾性波共振子は、直列腕共振子S1aである。直列腕共振子S1aのIDT電極7は、1対のバスバーと、複数の電極指とを有する。1対のバスバーは、具体的には、第1のバスバー16及び第2のバスバー17である。第1のバスバー16及び第2のバスバー17は互いに対向している。複数の電極指は、具体的には、複数の第1の電極指18及び複数の第2の電極指19である。複数の第1の電極指18の一端はそれぞれ、第1のバスバー16に接続されている。複数の第2の電極指19の一端はそれぞれ、第2のバスバー17に接続されている。複数の第1の電極指18及び複数の第2の電極指19は互いに間挿し合っている。第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19は、互いに異なる電位に接続される。IDT電極7は、積層金属膜からなっていてもよく、あるいは、単層の金属膜からなっていてもよい。
 以下においては、第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19をまとめて、単に電極指と記載することがある。第1のバスバー16及び第2のバスバー17をまとめて、単にバスバーと記載することがある。複数の電極指が延びる方向を電極指延伸方向とし、電極指延伸方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向とする。
 直列腕共振子S1aは交叉領域Fを有する。交叉領域Fは、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19が電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域である。以下においては、交叉領域Fの電極指延伸方向に沿う寸法を交叉幅Aとする。
 交叉領域Fは複数の励振領域Cを含む。より具体的には、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19が電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域であり、かつ隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の中心間の領域が励振領域Cである。交叉領域F及び励振領域Cは、IDT電極7の構成に基づいて定義される、圧電体層6の領域である。なお、図3においては、直列腕共振子S1aにおける複数の励振領域Cのうち2つのみの励振領域Cが示されている。
 直列腕共振子S1aは、厚み滑りモードのバルク波をメインモードとして利用可能に構成された弾性波共振子である。IDT電極7に交流電圧を印加することにより、各励振領域Cにおいて、厚み滑りモードのバルク波が励振される。より具体的には、直列腕共振子S1aにおいては、圧電体層6の厚みをd、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の中心間距離をpとした場合、d/pが0.5以下である。これにより、厚み滑りモードのバルク波が、各励振領域Cにおいて好適に励振される。
 図1に示す直列腕共振子S1a以外の複数の直列腕共振子及び複数の並列腕共振子もそれぞれ、厚み滑りモードのバルク波を利用可能に構成された弾性波共振子である。フィルタ装置1の複数の弾性波共振子はそれぞれ、IDT電極7を有し、交叉領域F及び複数の励振領域Cを有する。本実施形態では、全ての弾性波共振子の電極指直交方向は同じである。なお、フィルタ装置1の複数の弾性波共振子においては、所望の特性に応じて、設計パラメータが異ならされていてもよい。
 本実施形態の特徴は、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭いことにある。それによって、フィルタ装置1の耐電力性を高くすることができる。これを、参考例を参照することにより、以下において説明する。
 図4に示す参考例のフィルタ装置101の回路構成は、直列腕に4つの並列腕が接続されている構成においては、第1の実施形態の回路構成と同様である。まず、第1の実施形態の回路構成の詳細を説明する。
 図1に示すように、回路構成上、第1の信号端子11A及び第2の信号端子11Bを直列腕が結んでいる。直列腕に各直列腕共振子が配置されている。具体的には、直列腕において、直列腕共振子S1a及び直列腕共振子S1bが互いに並列に接続されている。直列腕共振子S2a及び直列腕共振子S2bが互いに並列に接続されている。直列腕共振子S3a及び直列腕共振子S3bが互いに並列に接続されている。
 直列腕共振子S1a及び直列腕共振子S1bからなる共振子の群と、直列腕共振子S2a及び直列腕共振子S2bからなる共振子の群と、直列腕共振子S3a及び直列腕共振子S3bからなる共振子の群と、直列腕共振子S4とが互いに直列に接続されている。回路構成上、第1の信号端子11A側から、直列腕共振子S1a、直列腕共振子S2a、直列腕共振子S3a及び直列腕共振子S4がこの順序で配置されている。
 直列腕共振子S1a及び直列腕共振子S2aの間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P1a及び並列腕共振子P1bが互いに並列に接続されている。直列腕共振子S2a及び直列腕共振子S3aの間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P2a及び並列腕共振子P2bが互いに並列に接続されている。直列腕共振子S3a及び直列腕共振子S4の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P3a及び並列腕共振子P3bが互いに並列に接続されている。第2の信号端子11Bとグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P4a、並列腕共振子P4b、並列腕共振子P4c及び並列腕共振子P4dが互いに並列に接続されている。
 一方で、図4に示す参考例のフィルタ装置101は、並列に接続された共振子を含まない。第1の信号端子11A及び第2の信号端子11Bを結ぶ直列腕において、直列腕共振子S101、直列腕共振子S102、直列腕共振子S103及び直列腕共振子S104が互いに直列に接続されている。直列腕共振子S101及び直列腕共振子S102の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P101が接続されている。直列腕共振子S102及び直列腕共振子S103の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P102が接続されている。直列腕共振子S103及び直列腕共振子S104の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P103が接続されている。第2の信号端子11Bとグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P104が接続されている。
 参考例においては、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子はそれぞれ、IDT電極を有する弾性波共振子である。もっとも、参考例においては、全ての弾性波共振子の交叉幅は同じである。図5及び図6により、参考例の各弾性波共振子における、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間の帯域内においての消費電力を示す。
 図5は、参考例の各直列腕共振子における、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間の帯域内においての消費電力を示す図である。図6は、参考例の各並列腕共振子における、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間の帯域内においての消費電力を示す図である。なお、図5及び図6において示されている周波数の範囲は全て、各弾性波共振子における共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間の帯域内に位置している。
 図5に示すように、各直列腕共振子においては、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間の帯域内における消費電力が大きい。一方で、図6に示すように、各並列腕共振子においては、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間の帯域内における消費電力は小さい。ここで、弾性波共振子に電力を印加すると、弾性波が励振されると共に、熱が生じる。弾性波共振子の消費電力が大きいほど、弾性波共振子において生じる熱の熱量は大きい。よって、図5及び図6により示される結果から、フィルタ装置が用いられるに際し、直列腕共振子において生じる熱の熱量が、並列腕共振子において生じる熱の熱量よりも大きいことがわかる。
 これに対して、第1の実施形態においては、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。より具体的には、図2に示す、直列腕共振子S2a、直列腕共振子S2b、直列腕共振子S3a及び直列腕共振子S3bの交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、フィルタ装置1が用いられるに際し、高い温度となる弾性波共振子を少なくすることができる。この詳細を以下において説明する。
 弾性波共振子の交叉幅Aを異ならせる毎に、弾性波共振子に電力を印加する前及び印加した後における、弾性波共振子の温度差を算出した。なお、以下においては、当該温度差をΔTとする。当該検討においては、交叉幅Aは、26.5μm、53.1μmまたは92.8μmとした。各弾性波共振子に印加した電力は1500mWである。
 図7は、弾性波共振子の交叉幅Aと、弾性波共振子に電力を印加する前及び印加した後における、弾性波共振子の温度差ΔTとの関係を示す図である。
 図7に示すように、交叉幅Aが広いほど温度差ΔTが大きい。すなわち、交叉幅Aが広いほど、弾性波共振子に電力を印加することにより弾性波共振子の温度が高くなる。弾性波共振子において、IDT電極の電極指の温度が過度に高くなると、IDT電極が破損するおそれがある。一方で、交叉幅Aが狭い場合には、弾性波共振子の温度が上昇し難い。これは以下の理由による。
 弾性波共振子においては、電極指延伸方向における中央付近において生じる熱の熱量が特に大きい。これに対して、交叉幅Aが狭い場合には、弾性波共振子における上記中央付近と、各バスバーとの間の距離が短い。そして、各バスバーは、配線を介して、他の素子やフィルタ装置の外部に接続されている。よって、交叉幅Aが狭い場合には、各バスバー及び配線を介して、熱を外部に放出し易い。従って、交叉幅Aを狭くすることにより、弾性波共振子が構成されている部分の放熱性を高くすることができ、IDT電極を破損し難くすることができる。
 上述したように、フィルタ装置が用いられるに際し、直列腕共振子において生じる熱の熱量は、並列腕共振子において生じる熱の熱量よりも大きい。これに対して、第1の実施形態においては、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、フィルタ装置1が用いられるに際し、高い温度となる弾性波共振子を少なくすることができる。従って、フィルタ装置1全体として、耐電力性を高くすることができる。
 第1の実施形態では、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。これに加えて、隣り合う電極指同士の中心間距離をpとしたときに、全ての直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが4.7p以上であることが好ましい。それによって、フィルタ装置1においてロスを効果的に低減させることができる。この詳細を以下において説明する。
 弾性波共振子の交叉幅Aを変化させる毎に、4.65GHzにおけるリターンロスを測定した。具体的には、交叉幅Aを、5μm以上、50μm以下の範囲において5μm刻みで変化させた。なお、中心間距離pは変化させず、4.26μmとした。
 図8は、交叉幅Aと4.65GHzにおけるリターンロスとの関係を示す図である。
 図8に示すように、交叉幅Aが広くなるほど、リターンロスが低減されていることがわかる。交叉幅Aが20μm以下である場合には、リターンロスの変化が特に大きい。そのため、交叉幅Aが20μm未満である場合、リターンロスは大幅に増加する。これに対して、交叉幅Aが20μm以上である場合には、リターンロスの絶対値を1未満にすることができる。当該検討では、中心間距離pは4.26μmである。このことから、交叉幅Aが20μmである場合、交叉幅Aは、有効数字2桁において4.7pである。
 よって、全ての直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが4.7p以上である場合には、全ての直列腕共振子において、リターンロスを低減させることができる。なお、この場合、全ての並列腕共振子よりも交叉幅Aが狭い直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aは、4.7p以上である。そのため、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aは4.7p超である。よって、全ての並列腕共振子においても、リターンロスを低減させることができる。従って、フィルタ装置1においてロスを効果的に低減させることができる。もっとも、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが4.7p以上であってもよい。
 以下において、第1の実施形態の構成をより詳細に説明する。
 図9は、図3中のI-I線に沿う模式的断面図である。
 圧電性基板2は、支持部材3と、圧電体層6とを有する。本実施形態では、支持部材3は、支持基板4と、絶縁層5とを含む。支持基板4上に絶縁層5が設けられている。絶縁層5上に圧電体層6が設けられている。もっとも、支持部材3は支持基板4のみにより構成されていてもよい。
 支持基板4の材料としては、例えば、シリコンなどの半導体や、酸化アルミニウムなどのセラミックスなどを用いることができる。絶縁層5の材料としては、酸化ケイ素または酸化タンタルなどの、適宜の誘電体を用いることができる。
 絶縁層5には凹部が設けられている。絶縁層5上に、凹部を塞ぐように、圧電体層6が設けられている。これにより、中空部が構成されている。この中空部が空洞部2aである。本実施形態では、支持部材3の一部及び圧電体層6の一部が、空洞部2aを挟み互いに対向するように、支持部材3と圧電体層6とが配置されている。もっとも、支持部材3における凹部は、絶縁層5及び支持基板4にわたり設けられていてもよい。あるいは、支持基板4のみに設けられた凹部が、絶縁層5により塞がれていてもよい。凹部は、例えば、圧電体層6に設けられていても構わない。なお、空洞部2aは、支持部材3に設けられた貫通孔であってもよい。
 平面視において、IDT電極7の少なくとも一部が空洞部2aと重なっている。本明細書において平面視とは、図9における上方に相当する方向から、支持部材3及び圧電体層6の積層方向に沿って見ることをいう。なお、図9においては、例えば、支持基板4側及び圧電体層6側のうち、圧電体層6側が上方である。さらに、本明細書において平面視は、主面対向方向から見ることと同義であるとする。主面対向方向とは、圧電体層6の第1の主面6a及び第2の主面6bが対向し合う方向である。より具体的には、主面対向方向は、例えば、第1の主面6aの法線方向である。
 空洞部2aは、本発明における音響反射部である。弾性波を、音響反射部により、圧電体層6側に反射させることができる。これにより、弾性波のエネルギーを圧電体層6側に効果的に閉じ込めることができる。複数の励振領域Cが、平面視において音響反射部と重なっていることが好ましい。それによって、弾性波のエネルギーを圧電体層6側に、より確実に、効果的に閉じ込めることができる。
 第1の実施形態では、複数の弾性波共振子のそれぞれにおいて、平面視したときに、支持部材3における、IDT電極7と重なる位置に音響反射部が設けられている。なお、音響反射部として、音響反射膜が設けられていてもよい。
 例えば、図10に示す第1の実施形態の第1の変形例においては、音響反射部は音響反射膜8である。本変形例の支持部材3Aは支持基板のみからなる。支持部材3Aの表面に音響反射膜8が設けられている。音響反射膜8上に圧電体層6が設けられている。なお、支持部材3Aの少なくとも一部及び圧電体層6の少なくとも一部が、音響反射膜8を挟み互いに対向するように、支持部材3Aと圧電体層6とが配置されていればよい。
 図10においては、本変形例のフィルタ装置における1つの弾性波共振子が示されている。なお、本変形例のフィルタ装置における、図10に示す弾性波共振子以外の各弾性波共振子もそれぞれ、音響反射膜8を有する。複数の弾性波共振子の音響反射膜8が、一体として設けられていてもよい。
 音響反射膜8は、複数の音響インピーダンス層の積層体である。具体的には、音響反射膜8は、複数の低音響インピーダンス層と、複数の高音響インピーダンス層とを有する。低音響インピーダンス層は、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い層である。より詳細には、低音響インピーダンス層は、音響反射膜8において隣接する層よりも、音響インピーダンスが低い層である。音響反射膜8における複数の低音響インピーダンス層は、より具体的には、低音響インピーダンス層14a、低音響インピーダンス層14b及び低音響インピーダンス層14cである。
 一方で、高音響インピーダンス層は、相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い層である。より詳細には、高音響インピーダンス層は、音響反射膜8において隣接する層よりも、音響インピーダンスが高い層である。音響反射膜8における複数の高音響インピーダンス層は、より具体的には、高音響インピーダンス層15a及び高音響インピーダンス層15bである。低音響インピーダンス層及び高音響インピーダンス層は交互に積層されている。なお、低音響インピーダンス層14aが、音響反射膜8において最も圧電体層6側に位置する層である。
 音響反射膜8は、低音響インピーダンス層を3層有し、高音響インピーダンス層を2層有する。もっとも、音響反射膜8は、低音響インピーダンス層及び高音響インピーダンス層をそれぞれ少なくとも1層ずつ有していればよい。
 低音響インピーダンス層の材料としては、例えば、酸化ケイ素またはアルミニウムなどを用いることができる。高音響インピーダンス層の材料としては、例えば、白金またはタングステンなどの金属や、窒化アルミニウム、窒化ケイ素または酸化ハフニウムなどの誘電体を用いることができる。
 本変形例においても、第1の実施形態と同様に、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、フィルタ装置の耐電力性を高くすることができる。加えて、音響反射膜8が設けられていることにより、弾性波のエネルギーを、圧電体層6側に効果的に閉じ込めることができる。
 本変形例における、音響反射部が音響反射膜8である構成は、本変形例以外の本発明の構成にも適用することができる。
 本発明においては、少なくとも1つの弾性波共振子が音響反射部を有していればよい。もっとも、全ての弾性波共振子が音響反射部を有することが好ましい。それによって、全ての弾性波共振子において、弾性波のエネルギーを、圧電体層6側に効果的に閉じ込めることができる。これにより、フィルタ装置において、ロスをより確実に低減させることができる。
 第1の実施形態やその第1の変形例においては、圧電体層6の第1の主面6a及び第2の主面6bに誘電体膜は設けられていない。なお、圧電体層6の第1の主面6a及び第2の主面6bのうち少なくとも一方に、誘電体膜が設けられていてもよい。例えば、図11に示す第1の実施形態の第2の変形例においては、圧電体層6の第1の主面6aに、IDT電極7を覆うように、第1の誘電体膜9Aが設けられている。この場合、第1の誘電体膜9AによりIDT電極7が保護される。これにより、IDT電極7が破損し難い。
 圧電体層6の第2の主面6bには、第2の誘電体膜9Bが設けられている。第2の誘電体膜9Bは、平面視において、IDT電極7と重なっている。本変形例では、圧電性基板2Bは、支持基板4、絶縁層5、第2の誘電体膜9B及び圧電体層6を含む。
 第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの材料としては、例えば、酸化ケイ素、窒化ケイ素または酸窒化ケイ素などを用いることができる。第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの材料は同じであってもよく、あるいは、互いに異なっていてもよい。
 図11においては、本変形例のフィルタ装置における1つの弾性波共振子が示されている。なお、本変形例のフィルタ装置における、図11に示す弾性波共振子以外の各弾性波共振子もそれぞれ、第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bを有する。複数の弾性波共振子の第1の誘電体膜9Aが一体として設けられていてもよい。複数の弾性波共振子の第2の誘電体膜9Bが一体として設けられていてもよい。
 本変形例においても、第1の実施形態と同様に、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、フィルタ装置の耐電力性を高くすることができる。
 なお、複数の弾性波共振子は、圧電体層6の第1の主面6aまたは第2の主面6bに誘電体膜が設けられていない弾性波共振子を含んでいてもよい。もっとも、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子が、圧電体層6の第1の主面6a及び第2の主面6bのうち少なくとも一方に、IDT電極7と平面視において重なるように設けられている、誘電体膜を有していることが好ましい。言い換えれば、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子が、第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bのうち少なくとも一方を有していることが好ましい。
 そして、全ての直列腕共振子のうち、第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの厚みの合計値が最も大きい直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭いことが好ましい。それによって、フィルタ装置の耐電力性をより確実に高くすることができる。この詳細を以下において説明する。
 第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの厚みを調整することにより、弾性波共振子の共振周波数を調整することができる。具体的には、第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの厚みの合計値が大きいほど、弾性波共振子の共振周波数は低い。フィルタ装置における、共振周波数が最も低い直列腕共振子は、通過帯域における最も高い周波数付近における、急峻性を高くするために用いられることが多い。本明細書において急峻性が高いとは、通過帯域における最も高い周波数または最も低い周波数付近において、ある一定の減衰量の変化量に対して、周波数の変化量が小さいことをいう。
 急峻性を高くするために用いられる直列腕共振子においては、消費電力が特に大きくなる。そのため、当該直列腕共振子におけるIDT電極7は、フィルタ装置が用いられるに際し、温度が過度に高くなり易い。当該直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが狭いことにより、当該直列腕共振子が構成されている部分における放熱性を高くすることができる。従って、当該直列腕共振子の耐電力性を高くすることができ、フィルタ装置の耐電力性をより確実に高くすることができる。
 ところで、第1の実施形態においては、各弾性波共振子は、厚み滑りモードのバルク波をメインモードとして利用可能に構成されている。具体的には、音響反射部を有する各弾性波共振子において、d/p≦0.5である。なお、各弾性波共振子は、例えば、板波をメインモードとして利用可能に構成されていてもよい。
 例えば、図12に示す第1の実施形態の第3の変形例においては、圧電体層6の第1の主面6aに、1対の反射器13A及び反射器13Bが設けられている。より具体的には、反射器13A及び反射器13Bは、IDT電極7を電極指直交方向において挟み互いに対向している。
 反射器13Aは、1対の反射器バスバー13a及び反射器バスバー13bと、複数の反射器電極指13cとを有する。反射器バスバー13a及び反射器バスバー13bは互いに対向している。複数の反射器電極指13cのそれぞれにおける一方端及び他方端は、反射器バスバー13a及び反射器バスバー13bにより短絡されている。反射器13Bも、反射器13Aと同様に構成されている。
 圧電体層6の厚みをd、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の中心間距離をpとしたときに、d≦2pであることが好ましい。この場合には、板波が好適に励振される。加えて、反射器13A及び反射器13Bが設けられていることにより、共振特性を良好にすることができる。なお、板波をメインモードとして利用する場合、交叉領域Fが励振領域である。
 図12においては、本変形例のフィルタ装置における1つの弾性波共振子が示されている。なお、本変形例のフィルタ装置における、図12に示す弾性波共振子以外の各弾性波共振子もそれぞれ、反射器13A及び反射器13Bを有する。本変形例においても、第1の実施形態と同様に、フィルタ装置の耐電力性を高くすることができる。
 第1の実施形態やその各変形例においては、フィルタ装置はラダー型フィルタである。もっとも、フィルタ装置は、例えば、縦結合共振子型弾性波フィルタを含んでいてもよい。この場合においても、フィルタ装置は、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子と、少なくとも1つの並列腕共振子とを含んでいればよい。少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭ければよい。第1の実施形態やその各変形例では、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子が同じ圧電性基板及び圧電体層を共有している。なお、本発明においては、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子は、必ずしも同じ圧電性基板を共有していなくともよい。
 図13は、第2の実施形態に係るフィルタ装置の回路図である。図14は、第2の実施形態に係るフィルタ装置の略図的平面図である。
 図13に示すように、本実施形態は、回路構成における直列腕の構成において、第1の実施形態と異なる。図14に示すように、本実施形態は、全ての直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い点においても、第1の実施形態と異なる。上記の点以外においては、本実施形態のフィルタ装置21は第1の実施形態のフィルタ装置1と同様の構成を有する。
 図13に示すように、フィルタ装置21の複数の直列腕共振子は、直列腕共振子S21a、直列腕共振子S21b、直列腕共振子S22、直列腕共振子S23及び直列腕共振子S24である。直列腕において、直列腕共振子S21a及び直列腕共振子S21bが互いに並列に接続されている。そして、直列腕において、直列腕共振子S21a及び直列腕共振子S21bからなる共振子の群と、直列腕共振子S22と、直列腕共振子S23と、直列腕共振子S24とが互いに直列に接続されている。回路構成上、第1の信号端子11A側から、直列腕共振子S21a、直列腕共振子S22、直列腕共振子S23及び直列腕共振子S24がこの順序で配置されている。
 本実施形態の回路構成は、直列腕に共振子の群が4つ配置されている点、及び各並列腕共振子の配置においては、第1の実施形態の回路構成と同様である。
 フィルタ装置21においては、全ての直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、全ての直列腕共振子が構成されている部分の放熱性を高くすることができ、全ての直列腕共振子におけるIDT電極7が破損し難い。従って、フィルタ装置21の耐電力性を効果的に高くすることができる。
 図15は、第3の実施形態に係るフィルタ装置の模式図である。図16は、図15中のII-II線に沿う模式的断面図である。なお、図15においては、IDT電極を、矩形に2本の対角線を加えた略図により示している。図15においては、第1の誘電体膜を省略している。図16では、弾性波共振子を構成している電極以外の電極も示している。
 図15に示すように、本実施形態は、回路構成及び弾性波共振子の配置において、第2の実施形態と異なる。本実施形態は、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子が、図16に示す第1の誘電体膜9Aを有する点においても、第2の実施形態と異なる。上記の点以外においては、本実施形態のフィルタ装置31は第2の実施形態のフィルタ装置21と同様の構成を有する。
 フィルタ装置31の複数の直列腕共振子は、直列腕共振子S31、直列腕共振子S32、直列腕共振子S33、直列腕共振子S34である。回路構成上、第1の信号端子11A側から、直列腕共振子S31、直列腕共振子S32、直列腕共振子S33及び直列腕共振子S34がこの順序において配置されている。
 フィルタ装置31の複数の並列腕共振子は、並列腕共振子P31、並列腕共振子P32、並列腕共振子P33及び並列腕共振子P34である。第1の信号端子11Aとグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P31が接続されている。直列腕共振子S31及び直列腕共振子S32の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P32が接続されている。直列腕共振子S32及び直列腕共振子S33の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P33が接続されている。直列腕共振子S33及び直列腕共振子S34の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P34が接続されている。
 本実施形態においても、第2の実施形態と同様に、全ての直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、フィルタ装置31の耐電力性を効果的に高くすることができる。
 図15に示すように、フィルタ装置31の全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子は、同じ圧電性基板2を共有している。そして、圧電性基板2における圧電体層6は第1の領域B1及び第2の領域B2を有する。具体的には、第1の領域B1及び第2の領域B2は、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子における電極指直交方向において、圧電体層6を分けた2つの領域である。もっとも、本実施形態では、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子の電極指直交方向は同じである。
 第1の領域B1には、全ての直列腕共振子が位置している。第2の領域B2には、全ての並列腕共振子が位置している。図16に示すように、圧電体層6の第1の領域B1及び第2の領域B2にわたり、第1の主面6aに、第1の誘電体膜9Aが設けられている。本実施形態では、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子の第1の誘電体膜9Aが一体として設けられている。そして、第1の領域B1に設けられている第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みと、第2の領域B2に設けられている第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みとが互いに異なる。これにより、全ての直列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みと、全ての並列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みとが互いに異なる。
 より具体的には、第1の領域B1に設けられている第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みは、第2の領域B2に設けられている第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みよりも薄い。これにより、全ての直列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みは、全ての並列腕共振子における誘電体膜の厚みよりも薄い。
 より詳細には、全ての直列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みは同じである。全ての並列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みは同じである。他方、いずれの直列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みも、全ての並列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みよりも薄い。
 一般に、直列腕共振子は、フィルタ装置の通過帯域における高域側の帯域を構成する。並列腕共振子は、フィルタ装置の通過帯域における低域側の帯域を構成する。そのため、直列腕共振子の共振周波数は並列腕共振子の共振周波数よりも高い。上記のように、図11に示した第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの厚みの合計値が大きいほど、弾性波共振子の共振周波数は低い。すなわち、該合計値が小さいほど、弾性波共振子の共振周波数は高い。そのため、直列腕共振子における該合計値を、並列腕共振子における該合計値よりも小さくすることにより、直列腕共振子の共振周波数を並列腕共振子の共振周波数よりも、容易に高くすることができる。
 図16に示すように、圧電体層6における第1の領域B1及び第2の領域B2は、弾性波共振子の電極指直交方向において圧電体層6を分けた領域である。よって、第1の領域B1及び第2の領域B2において、第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みを容易に互いに異ならせることができる。そして、全ての直列腕共振子が第1の領域B1に設けられており、全ての並列腕共振子が第2の領域B2に設けられている。これにより、全ての直列腕共振子の第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みを、全ての並列腕共振子の第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みよりも容易に薄くすることができる。従って、フィルタ装置31の生産性を効果的に高くすることができる。
 なお、本実施形態においては、図11に示した第2の誘電体膜9Bは設けられていない。そのため、第2の誘電体膜9Bの厚みは0である。もっとも、圧電体層6の第2の主面6bに第2の誘電体膜9Bが設けられていてもよい。
 図17は、第4の実施形態に係るフィルタ装置の一部を示す模式的正面断面図である。図17では、弾性波共振子を構成している電極以外の電極も示している。
 本実施形態は、第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みが、全ての弾性波共振子において同じである点において、第3の実施形態と異なる。本実施形態は、圧電体層6の第1の領域B1における厚みと、第2の領域B2における厚みとが互いに異なる点においても、第3の実施形態と異なる。上記の点以外においては、本実施形態のフィルタ装置41は第3の実施形態のフィルタ装置31と同様の構成を有する。
 本実施形態においても、第3の実施形態と同様に、全ての直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、フィルタ装置41の耐電力性を効果的に高くすることができる。
 ここで、圧電体層6の厚みが薄いほど、弾性波共振子の共振周波数は高い。そのため、直列腕共振子における圧電体層6の厚みを、並列腕共振子における圧電体層6の厚みよりも薄くすることにより、直列腕共振子の共振周波数を並列腕共振子の共振周波数よりも、容易に高くすることができる。
 圧電体層6における第1の領域B1及び第2の領域B2は、弾性波共振子の電極指直交方向において圧電体層6を分けた領域である。よって、第1の領域B1及び第2の領域B2において、圧電体層6の厚みを容易に互いに異ならせることができる。そして、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子は同じ圧電性基板2及び圧電体層6を共有している。具体的には、全ての直列腕共振子が第1の領域B1において構成されており、全ての並列腕共振子が第2の領域B2において構成されている。これにより、全ての直列腕共振子の圧電体層6の厚みを、全ての並列腕共振子の圧電体層6の厚みよりも容易に薄くすることができる。従って、フィルタ装置41の生産性を効果的に高くすることができる。
 本実施形態では、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みは同じである。なお、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子において、圧電体層6の厚み及び第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みが互いに異なっていてもよい。
 ところで、本発明においては、全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子は、必ずしも同じ圧電性基板を共有していなくともよい。全ての直列腕共振子及び全ての並列腕共振子が、同じ圧電性基板を共有していない例を、第5の実施形態により示す。
 図18は、第5の実施形態に係るフィルタ装置の模式図である。なお、図18においては、IDT電極を、矩形に2本の対角線を加えた略図により示している。図18においては、第1の誘電体膜を省略している。
 本実施形態は、全ての直列腕共振子が共有している圧電性基板52Aと、全ての並列腕共振子が共有している圧電性基板52Bとが互いに異なる基板である点において、第4の実施形態と異なる。本実施形態では、全ての直列腕共振子が共有している圧電体層56Aと、全ての並列腕共振子が共有している圧電体層56Bとは互いに異なる層である。上記の点以外においては、本実施形態のフィルタ装置51は第4の実施形態のフィルタ装置41と同様の構成を有する。
 フィルタ装置51の回路構成は、第3の実施形態及び第4の実施形態の回路構成と同様である。もっとも、図18に示すように、フィルタ装置51の複数の直列腕共振子は、直列腕共振子S51、直列腕共振子S52、直列腕共振子S53、直列腕共振子S54である。回路構成上、第1の信号端子11A側から、直列腕共振子S51、直列腕共振子S52、直列腕共振子S53及び直列腕共振子S54がこの順序において配置されている。
 フィルタ装置51の複数の並列腕共振子は、並列腕共振子P51、並列腕共振子P52、並列腕共振子P53及び並列腕共振子P54である。第1の信号端子11Aとグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P51が接続されている。直列腕共振子S51及び直列腕共振子S52の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P52が接続されている。直列腕共振子S52及び直列腕共振子S53の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P53が接続されている。直列腕共振子S53及び直列腕共振子S54の間の接続点とグラウンド電位との間に、並列腕共振子P54が接続されている。
 本実施形態においても、第4の実施形態と同様に、全ての直列腕共振子の交叉幅Aが、全ての並列腕共振子の交叉幅Aよりも狭い。それによって、フィルタ装置51の耐電力性を効果的に高くすることができる。
 フィルタ装置51においては、圧電体層56Aの厚みと圧電体層56Bの厚みとは互いに異なる。具体的には、全ての直列腕共振子が共有している圧電体層56Aの厚みは、全ての並列腕共振子が共有している圧電体層56Bの厚みよりも薄い。これにより、直列腕共振子の共振周波数が並列腕共振子の共振周波数よりも高い。
 圧電体層56A及び圧電体層56Bは互いに異なる層である。よって、圧電体層56A及び圧電体層56Bの厚みを容易に互いに異ならせることができる。従って、フィルタ装置51の生産性を効果的に高くすることができる。
 加えて、圧電体層56A及び圧電体層56Bの材料は互いに異なっていてもよい。あるいは、圧電体層56Aを構成している材料のオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)と、圧電体層56Bを構成している材料のオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)とが互いに異なっていてもよい。これらの場合にも、圧電体層56A及び圧電体層56Bが互いに異なる層であるため、フィルタ装置51を容易に製造することができる。よって、フィルタ装置51の所望の電気的特性を容易に、より確実に得ることができ、生産性が低下し難い。もっとも、圧電体層56A及び圧電体層56Bの厚み、材料やオイラー角などは、必ずしも互いに異なっていなくともよい。
 図18においては省略しているが、圧電体層56Aの第1の主面に設けられている第1の誘電体膜の厚みと、圧電体層56Bの第1の主面に設けられている第1の誘電体膜の厚みとが、互いに異なっていてもよい。すなわち、図16に示す第3の実施形態と同様に、全ての直列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みと、全ての並列腕共振子における第1の誘電体膜9Aの厚みとが互いに異なっていてもよい。
 本実施形態では、全ての直列腕共振子が共有している圧電性基板52Aと、全ての並列腕共振子が共有している圧電性基板52Bとが互いに異なる基板である。なお、圧電性基板52A及び圧電性基板52Bの積層構成は、図16や図17に示した圧電性基板2の積層構成と同様である。図示しないが、本実施形態においては、全ての直列腕共振子が共有している圧電性基板52Aと、全ての並列腕共振子が共有している圧電性基板52Bとは、同じパッケージ基板に実装されている。
 図18において模式的に示す、直列腕共振子及び並列腕共振子を接続している配線は、圧電性基板52A上、パッケージ基板上及び圧電性基板52B上にわたり設けられている。パッケージ基板の材料としては、例えば、適宜のセラミックスまたはガラスエポキシ樹脂などを用いることができる。
 なお、例えば、圧電性基板52Aと、圧電性基板52Bとの積層構成が互いに異なっていてもよい。例えば、圧電性基板52A及び圧電性基板52Bのうち一方における音響反射部が空洞部であり、他方における音響反射部が音響反射膜であってもよい。フィルタ装置51の製造に際し、圧電性基板52A及び圧電性基板52Bを個別に形成することができる。それによって、フィルタ装置51の所望の電気的特性を容易に、より確実に得ることができ、生産性が低下し難い。
 以下において、本発明における弾性波共振子の好ましい構成を、図3を用いて説明する。もっとも、以下に示す好ましい構成は、第1の実施形態以外の本発明の、厚み滑りモードをメインモードとして利用する弾性波共振子の構成にも適用することができる。
 第1の実施形態では、圧電体層6の厚みをd、隣り合う電極指同士の中心間距離をpとした場合、音響反射部を有する弾性波共振子において、d/pが0.5以下である。なお、音響反射部を有する弾性波共振子において、d/pが0.24以下であることが好ましい。それによって、各励振領域Cにおいて、厚み滑りモードのバルク波がより好適に励振され、かつ弾性波共振子の比帯域の値を十分に大きくすることができる。比帯域は、共振周波数をfr、反共振周波数をfaとしたときに、(|fa-fr|/fr)×100[%]により表される。
 図19は、d/pと、弾性波共振子の比帯域との関係を示す図である。
 図19から明らかなように、d/p>0.5である場合には、比帯域は5%未満である。これに対して、d/p≦0.5である場合には、比帯域を5%以上にすることができる。よって、厚み滑りモードのバルク波の電気機械結合係数を大きくすることができる。d/p≦0.24である場合には、比帯域を7%以上にすることができる。よって、厚み滑りモードのバルク波の電気機械結合係数を効果的に大きくすることができる。
 励振領域Cに対する、電極指のメタライゼーション比をMRとしたときに、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075を満たすことが好ましい。この場合には、弾性波共振子の比帯域の値が大きくなりすぎず、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間においてスプリアスが生じることを抑制できる。この詳細を以下において示す。
 なお、本明細書では、励振領域Cに対する電極指のメタライゼーション比MRは、平面視したときに、圧電体層6が電極指を構成する金属により被覆されている部分が、励振領域Cにおいて占める割合である。具体的には、平面視したときの、励振領域Cの面積に対する、励振領域C内における第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の面積の比が、メタライゼーション比MRとなる。なお、励振領域C内に位置する電極指の幅が一定である場合には、励振領域C内に位置する電極指の幅の合計を、励振領域Cの電極指直交方向に沿う寸法により割ることによって、メタライゼーション比MRを算出することもできる。
 図20は、弾性波共振子における比帯域と、規格化されたスプリアスの大きさとの関係を示す図である。図20では、圧電体層の厚みや電極指の寸法を変化させることにより、比帯域を変化させる毎に、スプリアスの位相回転量を測定した結果を示す。なお、図20における規格化されたスプリアスの大きさは、具体的には、スプリアスのインピーダンスの位相回転量が、180°により規格化された値である。図20に示す結果は、ZカットのLiNbOからなる圧電体層を用いた場合の結果であるが、他のカット角の圧電体層を用いた場合においても、同様の傾向となる。
 図20中の楕円Dにより囲まれている領域では、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間における規格化されたスプリアスの大きさが、1.0となっている。弾性波共振子の比帯域が17%を超えると、規格化された該スプリアスの大きさが、1.0以上となり得る。このことから、比帯域は17%以下であることが好ましい。それによって、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間におけるスプリアスを抑制することができる。
 図21は、d/pと、メタライゼーション比MRと、比帯域との関係を示す図である。図21では、d/p及びメタライゼーション比MRを異ならせる毎に、比帯域を算出した結果を示す。
 図21中において、ハッチングを付して示した部分は、比帯域が17%以下の領域である。このハッチングを付した領域と、付していない領域との境界は、おおよそ破線Eにより表される。破線Eは、MR=1.75(d/p)+0.075により表される。そして、フィルタ装置における、d/pが0.5以下である少なくとも1つの弾性波共振子において、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075であることが好ましい。d/pが0.5以下である全ての弾性波共振子のそれぞれにおいて、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075であることがより好ましい。この場合には、厚み滑りモードのバルク波をメインモードとして利用する弾性波共振子において、比帯域を17%以下とし易い。
 一方で、図21中の一点鎖線E1により、d/pの変化に対するメタライゼーション比MRの変化の傾きが、破線Eの該傾きと同じであり、かつ全ての範囲において比帯域が17%以下となる境界を示す。一点鎖線E1は、MR=1.75(d/p)+0.05により表される。そして、フィルタ装置における、d/pが0.5以下である少なくとも1つの弾性波共振子において、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.05であることがより好ましい。d/pが0.5以下である全ての弾性波共振子のそれぞれにおいて、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.05であることがさらに好ましい。この場合には、厚み滑りモードのバルク波をメインモードとして利用する弾性波共振子において、比帯域をより確実に17%以下にすることができる。
 図22は、d/pを限りなく0に近づけた場合のLiNbOのオイラー角(0°,θ,ψ)に対する比帯域のマップを示す図である。図22のハッチングを付して示した部分が、少なくとも5%以上の比帯域が得られる領域であり、当該領域の範囲を近似すると、下記の式(1)、式(2)及び式(3)により表される範囲となる。

 圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、上記式(1)、式(2)または式(3)の範囲にあることが好ましい。それによって、弾性波共振子の比帯域を十分に広くすることができる。圧電体層がタンタル酸リチウムからなる場合も同様である。さらに、図18に示す第5の実施形態のように、圧電体層56Aと圧電体層56Bとが互いに異なる層である場合においても同様である。具体的には、双方の圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、上記式(1)、式(2)または式(3)の範囲にあることが好ましい。それによって、各直列腕共振子及び各並列腕共振子の比帯域を十分に広くすることができる。
 以下において、本発明に係るフィルタ装置の形態の例をまとめて記載する。
 <1>圧電体層を含む圧電性基板を有し、前記圧電体層上に設けられているIDT電極をそれぞれ有する複数の弾性波共振子を備え、前記IDT電極が複数の電極指を有し、前記複数の電極指が延びる方向を電極指延伸方向、前記電極指延伸方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向としたときに、隣り合う前記電極指同士が前記電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域が交叉領域であり、前記交叉領域の前記電極指延伸方向に沿う寸法が交叉幅であり、前記複数の弾性波共振子が、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子と、少なくとも1つの並列腕共振子と、を含み、少なくとも1つの前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が、全ての前記並列腕共振子の前記交叉幅よりも狭い、フィルタ装置。
 <2>全ての前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が、全ての前記並列腕共振子の前記交叉幅よりも狭い、<1>に記載のフィルタ装置。
 <3>前記圧電体層が、互いに対向している第1の主面及び第2の主面を有し、少なくとも1つの前記直列腕共振子が、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち少なくとも一方に、前記IDT電極と平面視において重なるように設けられている、誘電体膜を有し、全ての前記直列腕共振子のうち、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面に設けられている前記誘電体膜の厚みの合計値が最も大きい前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が、全ての前記並列腕共振子の前記交叉幅よりも狭い、<1>または<2>に記載のフィルタ装置。
 <4>隣り合う前記電極指同士の中心間距離をpとしたときに、全ての前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が4.7p以上である、<1>~<3>のいずれか1つに記載のフィルタ装置。
 <5>全ての前記直列腕共振子及び全ての前記並列腕共振子が同じ前記圧電性基板及び前記圧電体層を共有しており、少なくとも1つの前記直列腕共振子における前記電極指直交方向において、前記圧電体層を第1の領域及び第2の領域に分けたときに、前記第1の領域に全ての前記直列腕共振子が位置しており、前記第2の領域に全ての前記並列腕共振子が位置している、<1>~<4>のいずれか1つに記載のフィルタ装置。
 <6>前記圧電体層が互いに対向している第1の主面及び第2の主面を有し、全ての前記直列腕共振子及び全ての前記並列腕共振子が、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面に、前記IDT電極を覆うように設けられている誘電体膜を有し、全ての前記直列腕共振子における前記誘電体膜の厚みと、全ての前記並列腕共振子における前記誘電体膜の厚みとが互いに異なる、<5>に記載のフィルタ装置。
 <7>前記圧電体層の前記第1の領域における厚みと、前記第2の領域における厚みとが互いに異なる、<5>または<6>に記載のフィルタ装置。
 <8>全ての前記直列腕共振子が同じ前記圧電性基板を共有しており、全ての前記並列腕共振子が同じ前記圧電性基板を共有しており、全ての前記直列腕共振子が共有している前記圧電性基板と、全ての前記並列腕共振子が共有している前記圧電性基板とが互いに異なる基板である、<1>~<4>のいずれか1つに記載のフィルタ装置。
 <9>前記圧電性基板が支持部材を含み、前記支持部材上に前記圧電体層が設けられており、少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子が、前記支持部材における、平面視において前記IDT電極と重なる位置に設けられている音響反射部を有し、前記圧電体層の厚みをdとし、隣り合う前記電極指同士の中心間距離をpとしたときに、前記音響反射部を有する前記弾性波共振子において、d/pが0.5以下である、<1>~<8>のいずれか1つに記載のフィルタ装置。
 <10>d/pが0.5以下である前記弾性波共振子における、隣り合う前記電極指同士が前記電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域であり、かつ隣り合う前記電極指の中心間の領域が該弾性波共振子の励振領域であり、前記励振領域に対する、前記電極指のメタライゼーション比をMRとしたときに、d/pが0.5以下である少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子において、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075を満たす、<9>に記載のフィルタ装置。
 <11>前記音響反射部を有する前記弾性波共振子において、d/pが0.24以下である、<9>または<10>に記載のフィルタ装置。
 <12>前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、以下の式(1)、式(2)または式(3)の範囲にある、<1>~<11>のいずれか1つに記載のフィルタ装置。
 (0°±10°,0°~20°,任意のψ)  …式(1)
 (0°±10°,20°~80°,0°~60°(1-(θ-50)/900)1/2) または (0°±10°,20°~80°,[180°-60°(1-(θ-50)/900)1/2]~180°)  …式(2)
 (0°±10°,[180°-30°(1-(ψ-90)/8100)1/2]~180°,任意のψ)  …式(3)
 <13>前記圧電性基板が支持部材を含み、前記支持部材上に前記圧電体層が設けられており、少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子が、前記支持部材における、平面視において前記IDT電極と重なる位置に設けられている音響反射部を有し、前記音響反射部が空洞部であり、前記支持部材の一部及び前記圧電体層の一部が、前記空洞部を挟み互いに対向するように、前記支持部材と前記圧電体層とが配置されている、<1>~<12>のいずれか1つに記載のフィルタ装置。
 <14>前記圧電性基板が支持部材を含み、前記支持部材上に前記圧電体層が設けられており、少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子が、前記支持部材における、平面視において前記IDT電極と重なる位置に設けられている音響反射部を有し、前記音響反射部が、相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い高音響インピーダンス層と、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い低音響インピーダンス層と、を含む、音響反射膜であり、前記支持部材の少なくとも一部及び前記圧電体層の少なくとも一部が、前記音響反射膜を挟み互いに対向するように、前記支持部材と前記圧電体層とが配置されている、<1>~<12>のいずれか1つに記載のフィルタ装置。

Claims (14)

  1.  圧電体層を含む圧電性基板を有し、前記圧電体層上に設けられているIDT電極をそれぞれ有する複数の弾性波共振子を備え、
     前記IDT電極が複数の電極指を有し、前記複数の電極指が延びる方向を電極指延伸方向、前記電極指延伸方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向としたときに、隣り合う前記電極指同士が前記電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域が交叉領域であり、前記交叉領域の前記電極指延伸方向に沿う寸法が交叉幅であり、
     前記複数の弾性波共振子が、少なくとも1つの直列腕共振子と、少なくとも1つの並列腕共振子と、を含み、
     少なくとも1つの前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が、全ての前記並列腕共振子の前記交叉幅よりも狭い、フィルタ装置。
  2.  全ての前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が、全ての前記並列腕共振子の前記交叉幅よりも狭い、請求項1に記載のフィルタ装置。
  3.  前記圧電体層が、互いに対向している第1の主面及び第2の主面を有し、
     少なくとも1つの前記直列腕共振子が、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち少なくとも一方に、前記IDT電極と平面視において重なるように設けられている、誘電体膜を有し、
     全ての前記直列腕共振子のうち、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面に設けられている前記誘電体膜の厚みの合計値が最も大きい前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が、全ての前記並列腕共振子の前記交叉幅よりも狭い、請求項1または2に記載のフィルタ装置。
  4.  隣り合う前記電極指同士の中心間距離をpとしたときに、全ての前記直列腕共振子の前記交叉幅が4.7p以上である、請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のフィルタ装置。
  5.  全ての前記直列腕共振子及び全ての前記並列腕共振子が同じ前記圧電性基板及び前記圧電体層を共有しており、
     少なくとも1つの前記直列腕共振子における前記電極指直交方向において、前記圧電体層を第1の領域及び第2の領域に分けたときに、前記第1の領域に全ての前記直列腕共振子が位置しており、前記第2の領域に全ての前記並列腕共振子が位置している、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載のフィルタ装置。
  6.  前記圧電体層が互いに対向している第1の主面及び第2の主面を有し、
     全ての前記直列腕共振子及び全ての前記並列腕共振子が、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面に、前記IDT電極を覆うように設けられている誘電体膜を有し、
     全ての前記直列腕共振子における前記誘電体膜の厚みと、全ての前記並列腕共振子における前記誘電体膜の厚みとが互いに異なる、請求項5に記載のフィルタ装置。
  7.  前記圧電体層の前記第1の領域における厚みと、前記第2の領域における厚みとが互いに異なる、請求項5または6に記載のフィルタ装置。
  8.  全ての前記直列腕共振子が同じ前記圧電性基板を共有しており、全ての前記並列腕共振子が同じ前記圧電性基板を共有しており、全ての前記直列腕共振子が共有している前記圧電性基板と、全ての前記並列腕共振子が共有している前記圧電性基板とが互いに異なる基板である、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載のフィルタ装置。
  9.  前記圧電性基板が支持部材を含み、
     前記支持部材上に前記圧電体層が設けられており、
     少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子が、前記支持部材における、平面視において前記IDT電極と重なる位置に設けられている音響反射部を有し、
     前記圧電体層の厚みをdとし、隣り合う前記電極指同士の中心間距離をpとしたときに、前記音響反射部を有する前記弾性波共振子において、d/pが0.5以下である、請求項1~8のいずれか1項に記載のフィルタ装置。
  10.  d/pが0.5以下である前記弾性波共振子における、隣り合う前記電極指同士が前記電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域であり、かつ隣り合う前記電極指の中心間の領域が該弾性波共振子の励振領域であり、
     前記励振領域に対する、前記電極指のメタライゼーション比をMRとしたときに、d/pが0.5以下である少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子において、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075を満たす、請求項9に記載のフィルタ装置。
  11.  前記音響反射部を有する前記弾性波共振子において、d/pが0.24以下である、請求項9または10に記載のフィルタ装置。
  12.  前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、
     前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、以下の式(1)、式(2)または式(3)の範囲にある、請求項1~11のいずれか1項に記載のフィルタ装置。

  13.  前記圧電性基板が支持部材を含み、
     前記支持部材上に前記圧電体層が設けられており、
     少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子が、前記支持部材における、平面視において前記IDT電極と重なる位置に設けられている音響反射部を有し、
     前記音響反射部が空洞部であり、前記支持部材の一部及び前記圧電体層の一部が、前記空洞部を挟み互いに対向するように、前記支持部材と前記圧電体層とが配置されている、請求項1~12のいずれか1項に記載のフィルタ装置。
  14.  前記圧電性基板が支持部材を含み、
     前記支持部材上に前記圧電体層が設けられており、
     少なくとも1つの前記弾性波共振子が、前記支持部材における、平面視において前記IDT電極と重なる位置に設けられている音響反射部を有し、
     前記音響反射部が、相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い高音響インピーダンス層と、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い低音響インピーダンス層と、を含む、音響反射膜であり、前記支持部材の少なくとも一部及び前記圧電体層の少なくとも一部が、前記音響反射膜を挟み互いに対向するように、前記支持部材と前記圧電体層とが配置されている、請求項1~12のいずれか1項に記載のフィルタ装置。
