Description

エンコーダ
 本開示は、エンコーダに関する。
 従来から、1つの部材に対する他の部材の相対的な位置を検出するための装置としてエンコーダが知られている。エンコーダとしては、回転軸の周りの回転位置を検出するためのロータリーエンコーダおよび2つの部材の直線的な相対位置を検出するためのリニアエンコーダが知られている。
 エンコーダには、光源からの光を透過したり遮断したりすることにより部材の回転移動量または直線移動量を検出する光学式エンコーダが知られている。従来の技術における光学式エンコーダは、スリットが形成された固定板を備える。光学式エンコーダは、対象部材が動くと固定板に対して相対的に動く可動板を備える。可動板には、光を透過するためのスリットが形成されている。固定板のスリットに対して可動板のスリットが移動することにより、光が遮断されたり透過されたりする。この時の光の強度の変化を受光部材が検出することにより、可動板に固定された対象部材の移動量を検出することができる。

 従来の技術における光学式のエンコーダでは、光源、固定板、可動板、および受光部材が必要であり、部品点数が多いという問題がある。更に、光源には、例えばLED(Light Emitting Diode)が使用される。このような場合に、光源の光の進行方向を固定板と可動板とが対向する方向に平行になるように調整するために、光の向きを調整するためのレンズが配置される場合がある。
 ここで、従来の技術による光源から出射された光は、レンズにて進行方向を調整しても直進しない光の成分が生じる。すなわち、レンズにて光の進行方向を調整しても、完全な平行光にはならないために、スリットから遠ざかるにつれて、スリットを通った光の形状がぼやけてしまう。この結果、検出される信号強度は低下する場合がある。または、スリットにて光が回折することにより、光の強度が低下して信号強度が低下する場合がある。
 信号強度の低下を抑制するためには、光源、固定板、可動板、および受光部材の部材同士の間隔を狭くすることが好ましい。このために、それぞれの部品を配置する位置に制約があるという問題がある。
 本開示の一態様のエンコーダは、レーザ光を発振する発光素子を含む光源と、光源から出射されたレーザ光に作用する光作用部を含む可動板と、可動板から到達するレーザ光を検出する受光素子を含む受光部材とを備える。光作用部は、レーザ光を透過するための開口部またはレーザ光を反射するための反射部を有する。発光素子は、フォトニック結晶を有し、レーザ光のパラメータを調整可能な半導体レーザ素子を含む。半導体レーザ素子は、可動板に照射されたレーザ光の幅が光作用部の幅と略同じになるようにレーザ光を出射するように形成されている。

 図1から図26を参照して、実施の形態におけるエンコーダについて説明する。本実施の形態におけるエンコーダは、光を出射する光源を有する光学式のエンコーダである。本実施の形態における光源は、レーザ光を発振する発光素子を含む。光学式のエンコーダは、光を反射したり透過したりすることにより変化する光の強度に基づいて一方の部材に対する他方の部材の相対的な位置を検出することができる。
 本実施の形態においては、回転軸の周りの回転数および1回転内の回転角度を検出するためのロータリーエンコーダについて説明する。ロータリーエンコーダは、回転角検出器とも称される。ロータリーエンコーダは、機械の関節部の支持軸または、モータおよび変速機等の駆動機の回転シャフト等に取り付けられることができる。
 図1に、本実施の形態における第1のエンコーダの概略断面図を示す。本実施の形態の第1のエンコーダ1は、回転板3に形成された開口部31,32を透過するレーザ光81を受光部材4にて検出する透過型のエンコーダである。受光部材4は、プリント基板5上に実装されている。受光部材4で受光した光量に応じて変化する電流値または電圧値から、シャフト71の回転位置情報を生成する。第1のエンコーダ1では、シャフト71の回転に応じてレーザ光81を透過したり遮断したりすることにより、回転軸RAの周りの回転位置を検出する。シャフト71の回転位置には、シャフト71の回転数および1回転内の回転角度が含まれる。
 エンコーダ1を構成する部品は、底板73および蓋部材74を含む筐体の内部に配置されている。回転位置を検出するためのシャフト71は、ベアリング72を介して底板73に支持されている。
 本実施の形態におけるエンコーダ1は、レーザ光81を発振する発光素子を有する光源2を備える。光源2は、底板73に形成された凹部73aに配置されている。本実施の形態において、光源2は、矢印90に示すように回転軸RAに沿った方向に光を出射するように配置されている。
 エンコーダ1は、光源2から出射されたレーザ光81に作用する光作用部を含む可動板としての回転板3を含む。回転板3は、面積が最大となる面積最大面が回転軸RAに対して垂直になるようにシャフト71に固定されている。回転板3は、シャフト71と共に回転する。エンコーダ1は、回転板3から到達するレーザ光81を検出する受光素子を有する受光部材4を備える。受光部材4は、光源2から発振されるレーザ光81を受光できるように配置されている。受光部材4は、プリント基板5の表面に配置されている。プリント基板5は、支持部材75を介して底板73に固定されている。
 図2に、本実施の形態における第1のエンコーダの光源の拡大概略平面図を示す。本実施の形態の光源は、複数の相信号に対応するレーザ光を発振する複数の発光素子を有する。矢印91に示す方向が、回転板3の径方向の外側に対応する。第1のエンコーダ1の光源2は、複数の発光素子21a,22a,21b,22bを含む。発光素子21a,22a,21b,22bは、後述する回転板3の開口部31,32に対応する位置に配置されている。また、複数の発光素子21a,22a,21b,22bは、回転板3の開口部31,32の形状に対応する形状に形成されている。複数の発光素子21a,21bは円周に沿って配置されている。複数の発光素子22b,22aは、円周に沿って配置されている。
 また、光源2は、発光素子23および発光素子24を有する。発光素子23,24は、後述する回転板3の開口部33,34に対応する位置に配置されている。それぞれの発光素子21a,22a,21b,22b,23,24は、予め定められた相信号を生成するための光を出射する。
 本実施の形態におけるそれぞれの発光素子21a,22a,21b,22b,23,24は、フォトニック結晶を有する半導体レーザ素子である。フォトニック結晶を有する半導体レーザ素子は、例えば、光を増幅するための活性層の近傍にフォトニック結晶の層を配置した構造を有し、フォトニック結晶の格子点の位置の形状および格子点同士の間隔のうち少なくとも一方を変化させることで、任意のビームパターンを出射させることが可能である。レーザ素子は、電子と正孔とが結合して光を放出する。そして、活性層に閉じ込められた光がフォトニック結晶において共振および回折する。
 本実施の形態の半導体レーザ素子は、大きな断面積にて単一のモードのレーザ光の発振することができる面発光レーザ素子を含む。発光素子から発振されたレーザ光は、光の拡がり角を狭くすることができるために高い直進性を有する。または、複数の発光素子を集めたり分散して配置したりすることができる。
 更に、本実施の形態の半導体レーザ素子は、レーザ光のパラメータの調整が可能である。レーザ光のパラメータとしては、レーザ光の出射角度、拡がり角、波長、および位相のうち少なくとも一つを含むことができる。出射角度とは、発光素子の出射面に対して出射される向きの角度を示す。拡がり角は、出射されたレーザ光の拡がりを示す角度である。例えば、拡がり角は発光素子の出射面に垂直な方向に対してレーザ光が拡がる角度を示す。本実施の形態のフォトニック結晶構造を有する半導体レーザ素子は、任意の方向に、任意の形状で、任意の波長のレーザ光を発振することができる。本実施の形態の発光素子21a,22a,21b,22bは、発光素子の表面に垂直な方向に沿ってレーザ光81を出射する。
 本実施の形態におけるエンコーダは、それぞれの相信号に対応する開口部が形成された固定板を備えていない。本実施の形態のエンコーダは、固定板の開口部にて光の形状を生成する機能を発光素子が有する。複数の発光素子は、複数の相信号の光作用部に対応する形状を有する。例えば、開口部の平面形状が四角形の場合には、発光素子の平面形状も四角形に形成することができる。
 本実施の形態では、発光素子21aは、エンコーダのA相の信号を生成するための光を出射する。発光素子21bは、B相の信号を生成するための光を出射する。複数の発光素子21aは、互いに等間隔ごと(所定の中心角ごと)に配置されている。同様に、複数の発光素子21bは、互いに等間隔ごとに配置されている。ここで、複数の発光素子21aと複数の発光素子21bとは、互いに位相が90°ずれるように形成されている。
 次に、発光素子22aは、A相の信号から180°にて位相がずれたXA相の信号を生成するための光を出射し、発光素子22bは、B相の信号から180°にて位相がずれたXB相の信号を生成するための光を出射する。それぞれのA相信号またはB相信号において差動増幅を実施することによりノイズを低減することができる。
 発光素子23は、C相の信号を生成するための光を出射する。C相の信号は、モータの磁極位置を検出するための相信号である。発光素子24は、シャフト71が1回転したことを検出するためのZ相を生成するための光を出射する。第1のエンコーダ1の光源2では、それぞれの発光素子21a,22a,21b,22b,23,24は、互いに同一の波長の光を発振するように形成されている。
 図3に、本実施の形態における第1のエンコーダの回転板の拡大概略平面図を示す。本実施の形態の第1のエンコーダには動く板である可動板としての回転板3が配置されている。回転板3には、レーザ光に作用する光作用部が形成されている。本実施の形態では、複数の相信号に対応するように複数の光作用部が形成されている。
 回転板3は、平面形状が円になるように形成されている。ここでの例では、矢印92に示す方向に回転板3が回転する。回転板3には、それぞれの相信号のレーザ光81を透過するように、光作用部としての開口部31,32,33,34が形成されている。複数の開口部31は、A相信号およびB相信号を形成するために、周方向に沿って互いに等間隔(所定の中心角ごと)にて形成されている。複数の開口部32は、XA相信号およびXB相信号を生成するために、周方向に沿って互いに等間隔(所定の中心角ごと)にて形成されている。開口部33は、C相の信号を生成するために形成されている。開口部34は、Z相の信号を生成するために形成されている。
 図4に、本実施の形態における受光部材の拡大概略平面図を示す。受光部材は、複数の相信号に対応するレーザ光を検出する複数の受光素子を有する。それぞれの受光素子は、予め定められた相信号のレーザ光を受光する位置に配置されている。また、それぞれの受光素子は、予め定められた相信号のレーザ光を発振する発光素子の位置に対応して配置されている。
 第1のエンコーダ1の受光部材4は、複数の受光素子41a,42a,41b,42bを有する。受光素子41aは、発光素子21aから発振されるA相の信号のレーザ光を受光するように配置されている。受光素子42aは、発光素子22aから発振されるXA相の信号のレーザ光を受光するように配置されている。受光素子41bは、発光素子21bから発振されるB相の信号のレーザ光を受光するように配置されている。受光素子42bは、発光素子22bから発振されるXB相の信号のレーザ光を受光するように配置されている。受光素子43は、発光素子23から発振されるC相の信号のレーザ光を受光するように配置されている。受光素子44は、発光素子24から発振されるZ相の信号のレーザ光を受光するように配置されている。
 図5に、本実施の形態における、光源、回転板、および受光部材の拡大概略断面図を示す。光源の発光素子から発振されたレーザ光は、回転板の開口部を通って、受光部の受光素子に受光されて検出される。図5に示す例では、発光素子21a,22bから出射された2つのレーザ光81は、回転板3の開口部31,32を通って、受光素子41a,42bにて受光される。
 図6に、本実施の形態における光源および回転板の模式図を示す。本実施の形態の発光素子、開口部、および受光素子は、周方向に並んで配置されているが、図6以降の図においては、説明および理解を容易にするために、発光素子、開口部、および受光素子が直線状に並んでいるように示す。
 図6に示す例では、光源6は、複数の発光素子25を含む。発光素子25は、四角形の断面形状のレーザ光81のビームパターンを出射するように形成されている。それぞれの発光素子25は、回転板7に向かって矢印90に示すように、光を出射するように構成されている。回転板7には、平面形状が四角形の複数の開口部36が形成されている。
 本実施の形態の発光素子25は、回転板7に照射されたレーザ光81の幅が開口部36の幅とほぼ同じになるようにレーザ光を出射する。発光素子25は、レーザ光81の出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている。また、発光素子25は、回転板7に照射されたレーザ光81のピッチが、開口部36のピッチとほぼ同一になるように、出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている。
 本実施の形態の第1のエンコーダにおいては、発光素子25から出射されたレーザ光81が回転板7に照射される。ここでの例では、レーザ光81の照射領域の形状が開口部36の平面形状とほぼ同じになる。また、レーザ光81の照射領域のピッチは、複数の開口部同士のピッチとほぼ同じになる。図6は、レーザ光81が照射される照射領域が開口部36と重なっている状態を示している。発光素子25から出射されたほぼ全てのレーザ光81が開口部36を透過する。
 図7に、図6に示す状態から回転板が移動したときの光源および回転板の模式図を示す。ここでの例では、矢印92に示すように開口部36が並ぶ方向に回転板7が移動している。レーザ光81の一部が開口部36を透過する場合には、レーザ光81の他の部分は回転板7により遮断される。
 図8に、光源から出射されたレーザ光が開口部を透過したり回転板に遮断されたりする状態を示す概略平面図を示す。図6から図8を参照して、光源6に含まれる発光素子25は位置が固定されている。発光素子25から出射されて回転板7に照射されたレーザ光81の照射領域81aは移動しない。これに対して、矢印92に示す方向に回転板7が回転することにより、状態A、状態B、および状態Cの順に移行する。状態Aは、図6に示す状態に対応しており、ほぼ全てのレーザ光81が開口部36を透過している。状態Bは、図7に示す状態に対応しており、回転板7に照射されるレーザ光の一部が開口部36を透過する状態である。状態Cでは、回転板7に照射されるレーザ光のほぼ全てが、回転板7にて遮断される状態である。
 図9に、受光素子にて検出される信号強度を説明するグラフを示す。図8および図9を参照して、状態Aから状態Cに向かうにつれて、受光素子にて検出される光量は少なくなるために、受光素子にて検出される信号強度は小さくなる。信号強度は電圧値または電流値にて検出されることができる。
 図10に、レーザ光が照射される照射領域の幅と開口部の幅との関係に対する信号強度のグラフを示す。図8を参照して、ここでは開口部36は、幅WSおよび長さLSを有する。複数の開口部36はピッチPSにて形成されている。これに対して、レーザ光81が回転板7に照射される照射領域81aは、幅WRおよび長さLRを有する。複数の照射領域81aは、ピッチPRの間隔を有する。図8に示す例では、開口部36の幅WSは、レーザ光が照射される照射領域81aの幅WRとほぼ同じである。また、開口部36の長さLSは、レーザ光が照射される照射領域81aの長さLRとほぼ同である。また、開口部36のピッチPSは、レーザ光が照射される照射領域81aのピッチPRとほぼ同じである。
 図10を参照して、受光素子から検出される信号強度は、開口部36を透過するレーザ光の照射領域の面積に対応する。状態Aでは信号強度が最も強くなり、状態Cでは信号強度が最も弱くなる。開口部36の幅WSが照射領域81aの幅WRとほぼ同じである場合(WS=WR)に、回転板7が移動することにより、図8に示す状態A,B,Cを繰り返すように信号強度が変化する。
 ここでは、開口部36の幅WSが一定であり、照射領域81aの幅WRが変化する場合を検討する。照射領域の幅WRが開口部36の幅WSよりも大きい場合(WS<WR)には、状態Cにおいてもレーザ光の一部が開口部36を透過するために信号強度が大きくなる。このために信号強度の最大値と最小値との差(信号強度の振幅)が小さくなる。信号強度はA/D(Analog/Digital)コンバータを用いて検出されることができる。そして、信号強度に基づいて変位(回転位置)を検出することができる。このために信号強度の最大値と最小値との差が小さくなると、回転位置の検出精度が低下する。
 また、照射領域81aの幅WRが開口部36の幅WSよりも小さい場合(WS>WR)には、開口部の領域内に全ての照射領域が含まれる時期が生じる。すなわち、信号強度が一定になる時期が生じるために、信号強度から変位(回転位置)を正確に検出できない時期が存在する。これらの理由から、精度よく回転位置を検出するためには、レーザ光81が照射される照射領域81aの幅WRは、開口部36の幅WSとほぼ等しいことが好ましい。
 図11に、レーザ光が照射される照射領域の長さと信号強度との関係を説明するグラフを示す。ここでは、開口部36の長さLSが一定であり、照射領域81aの長さLRが変化する場合を検討する。開口部36の長さLSがレーザ光が照射される照射領域81aの長さLRとほぼ同じ場合(LS=LR)には、開口部36の全体から光が透過するために信号強度は大きくなる。これに対して、照射領域の長さLRが開口部の長さLSよりも小さい場合(LS>LR)には、開口部36の一部のみにレーザ光が透過するために、信号強度が小さくなる。照射領域81aの長さLRが開口部の長さLSよりも大きい場合(LS<LR)には、開口部36の長さLSが照射領域81aの長さLRとほぼ同じ場合と開口部を通過するレーザ光の面積は変わらないために、信号強度は変化しない。しかしながら、回転板の開口部以外の領域に入射したレーザ光は反射され、他の部材にて更に反射される場合がある。そして、レーザ光が別の開口部に入り込み、信号のコントラストを低下させる可能性がある。このために、信号強度を大きくするためには、レーザ光81が照射される照射領域81aの長さLRは、開口部36の長さLSとほぼ同じであることが好ましい。上記の検討から、レーザ光が照射される照射領域の形状と開口部の形状とは、ほぼ同じであることが好ましい。
 また、本実施の形態の発光素子25は、回転板7に照射されたレーザ光の照射領域81aのピッチPRが開口部36のピッチPSとほぼ同じになるように、レーザ光の出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている。この構成を採用することにより、精度よく回転位置を検出することができる。更に、光源を小型化にすることができる。
 図6および図7を参照して、本実施の形態の光源6は、光源6の出射面におけるレーザ光81の断面形状が、開口部36の平面形状よりも小さくなるように形成されている。特に、発光素子25は、光源6の出射面におけるレーザ光81の幅が、回転板7の開口部36の幅よりも小さくなるように、レーザ光81の出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている。すなわち、フォトニック結晶を有する発光素子25は、発光素子25からの距離が遠くなるほど、レーザ光81の断面積が大きくなるようにレーザ光81のビームパターンが制御されている。この構成を採用することにより、発光素子25を小型にできることができるために光源6を小型にすることができる。また、本実施の形態の発光素子は、フォトニック結晶を有する半導体レーザ素子であるために、小さな発光素子でも大きな出力にてレーザ光を発振することができる。
 ここで、図12から図15を参照して、発光素子の出射光が満たすべき出射角度について説明する。図12は、複数の発光素子25の概略平面図である。発光素子25の幅aと、長さbと、発光素子25同士の間隔d(ピッチに対応する)とが示されている。図13は、回転板7に照射されるレーザ光の複数の照射領域の概略平面図である。レーザ光の照射領域81aの幅a’と、長さb’と、照射領域81a同士の間隔d’が示されている。
 図14に、複数の発光素子に対して座標系を当てはめたときの説明図を示す。図15に、レーザ光の複数の照射領域に対して座標系を当てはめたときの説明図を示す。図14および図15には、1番目からn番目の発光素子25または照射領域81aが示されている。図6に示すように光源6と回転板7との距離hを用いると、n番目におけるレーザ光のx軸方向の出射角度θxは、次の式(1)および式(2)により算出される。式(1)は、xの値が(n-1)(a+d)の点を示し、式(2)は、xの値が(n-1)(a+d)+aの点を示している。

 また、n番目におけるレーザ光のy軸方向の出射角度θyは、次の式(3)および式(4)により算出される。式(3)は、yの値が0の点を示し、式(4)は、yの値がbの点を示している。

 このように、それぞれの出射角度になるように発光素子を製造することにより、本実施の形態における光源を製造することができる。または、レーザ光の拡がり角を調整しても構わない。
 図16に、第1の比較例のエンコーダの受光部材の概略平面図を示す。一般的なエンコーダは、開口部を有する固定板を備えるが、受光素子の形状を回転板の開口部の形状に対応させることにより、固定板を排除することができる。受光素子61a,62a,61b,62bは、それぞれがA相の信号、XA相の信号、B相の信号、XB相の信号のレーザ光を受信するための受光素子である。受光素子61a,62a,61b,62bは、固定板を配置する代わりに、回転板の開口部を透過するレーザ光の形状に合わせて形成されている。
 このような受光部材を備えるエンコーダにおいては、固定板を使用する方法に比べて、受光素子が小さくなるために、受光素子にて検出される信号強度が小さくなる。エンコーダを組立てるときの組立て精度を高くすることにより、回転位置の検出精度を高くすることができるが、製造時間が長くなったり歩留まりが悪くなったりする。または、信号強度を大きくするために、LEDなどの発光素子の出力を大きくすることが考えられる。しかしながらLEDの出力のみを大きくすることは困難であり、反射光の強度も大きくなるために、信号のコントラストが低下するなどの問題が発生する虞れがある。
 これに対して、本実施の形態におけるエンコーダにおいては、発光素子が従来の固定板の機能を備えているために、受光素子の面積を小さくする必要がなくなるため、光の強度を大きくすることができる。この結果、信号強度(検出される信号の振幅)を大きくすることができて分解能が向上する。
 また、本実施の形態におけるエンコーダは、開口部を有する固定板を配置する必要がなく、部品点数が少なくなり、歩留まりが向上する。または、製造費用を抑制したりすることができる。さらに、面発光レーザのレーザ光は直進性が高いために、光源、可動板、および受光部材の部材同士の間隔に依存せずに、受光素子において安定した強度の信号を得ることができる。すなわち、大きなコントラストを有する信号を得ることができる。このために、エンコーダの設計の自由度が向上する。
 図17に、第2の比較例のエンコーダの光源およびレンズの概略断面図を示す。第2の比較例のエンコーダの光源63は、発光素子としてLEDが配置されている。第2の比較例においては、光源63から遠ざかるにつれて除々に広がる光を、矢印93に示すようにレンズ64にて向きを変えている。ところが、光源63から出射された光には、矢印94に示すように、所望の方向に進行しない光が存在する。または、回転板の開口部または固定板の開口部において光が回折して、受光素子に到達しない光が存在する。このために、受光素子において検出される光の強度が小さくなる場合がある。
 これに対して、本実施の形態におけるエンコーダにはレンズが配置されていない。フォトニック結晶を有する半導体レーザ素子から出射されるレーザ光は、直進性に優れるためにレンズを使用しなくても受光素子における光の強度を高くすることができる。または、平行度の高い光を出射するために受光素子に到達しないレーザ光を少なくすることができて、光源を小型にすることができる。
 図18に、本実施の形態における第2のエンコーダの光源から発振されるレーザ光の波長と各相に用いる受光素子の光の吸収スペクトルとのグラフを示す。図2および図18を参照して、第2のエンコーダの光源は、相信号の種類によりレーザ光の波長を変えて複数の種類のレーザ光を発振する。複数の発光素子21a,22a,21b,22bは、複数の相信号に対応するように互いに異なる波長のレーザ光を発振するように形成されている。それぞれの発光素子21a,22a,21b,22bは、予め定められた相信号に対応する波長のレーザ光を発振するように形成されている。
 例えば、A相およびXA相の信号に対応する発光素子21a,22aは、波長λAの光を出射するように形成されている。また、B相およびXB相の信号に対応する発光素子21b,22bは、波長λBのレーザ光を出射するように形成されている。C相の信号に対応する発光素子23は、波長λCのレーザ光を出射するように構成されている。また、Z相の信号に対応する発光素子24は、波長λZの信号を出射するように構成されている。図3を参照して、第2のエンコーダの回転板は、第1のエンコーダの回転板3と同じ構成を有する。
 図4を参照して、第2のエンコーダの受光部材において、複数の受光素子41a,42a,41b,42b,43,44は、複数の相信号に対応するように互いに異なる波長のレーザ光を検出できるように形成されている。それぞれの受光素子41a,42a,41b,42b,43,44は、予め定められた相信号に対応する波長のレーザ光を検出するように形成されている。
 より具体的には、A相およびXA相の信号に対応する受光素子41a,42aは、波長λAのレーザ光を検出するように形成されている。また、B相およびXB相の信号に対応する受光素子41b,42bは、波長λBのレーザ光を検出するように形成されている。また、C相の信号に対応する受光素子43は、波長λCのレーザ光を検出するように形成されている。Z相の信号に対応する受光素子44は、波長λZのレーザ光を検出するように形成されている。
 第2のエンコーダにおいては、それぞれの相信号に対してレーザ光の波長が予め定められている。発光素子および受光素子は、それぞれの波長のレーザ光を発振または検出するように形成されている。このために、意図しない波長のレーザ光は検出しないように構成することができる。例えば、A相の波長λAのレーザ光を検出する受光素子41aに、B相の波長λBのレーザ光が入射した場合にも、受光素子41aは、B相の信号に対応するレーザ光は検出せずに、A相の信号に対応するレーザ光を検出することができる。この結果、それぞれの相信号の干渉を抑制して検出精度が向上する。
 図19に、本実施の形態における第3のエンコーダの光源、回転板、および受光部材の概略斜視図を示す。第3のエンコーダは、発光素子26を含む光源8、開口部35を有する回転板10、および受光部材9を含む。本実施の形態の第1のエンコーダにおいては、発光素子の平面形状の大きさが開口部の平面形状よりも小さくなるように形成されている。これに対して、第3のエンコーダでは、発光素子26の平面形状の大きさは、開口部35の平面形状の大きさとほぼ同じである。発光素子26は、矢印90に示すようにレーザ光の出射面に対して垂直の方向にレーザ光を出射している。
 図20に、本実施の形態における第4のエンコーダの受光部材の拡大概略平面図を示す。第4のエンコーダは、複数の受光素子51a,52a,51b,52bを有する受光部材11を備える。複数の受光素子51a,52a,51b,52bは、図4の第1のエンコーダの受光素子41a,42a,41b,42bの機能を有する。
 第4のエンコーダの複数の受光素子51a,52a,51b,52bは、細長い形状を有し、回転板の開口部が移動する方向に垂直な方向(半径方向)に延びるように形成されている。また、受光素子51a,52a,51b,52bの組が、回転板の開口部が移動する方向(周方向)に繰り返して並ぶように構成されている。
 第1のエンコーダの受光部材においては、1個の受光素子が1つの相信号に対応しているために、回転板と受光素子との周方向の相対位置が僅かにずれると、所望の信号強度が得られない場合がある。これに対して第4のエンコーダの受光部材では、複数の相信号に対応する受光素子を周方向に並べて配置することにより、受光部材と回転板との相対位置が周方向にずれたとしても、信号強度への悪影響を小さくすることができる。
 第4のエンコーダの受光部材11は、本実施の形態の第2のエンコーダのように、それぞれの受光素子が、相信号の種類に応じた波長のレーザ光を受光する場合に好適である。例えば、受光素子51a,52aはA相の波長λAのレーザ光を受光し、受光素子51b,52bはB相の波長λBのレーザ光を受光することができる。
 図21に、本実施の形態における第5のエンコーダの光源、回転板、および受光部材の概略斜視図を示す。第5のエンコーダは、レーザ光を反射する反射型のエンコーダである。第5のエンコーダは、光源12と、反射部15を含む回転板13と、受光部材14a,14bとを備える。第5のエンコーダにおいては、レーザ光に作用する光作用部としてレーザ光を反射する反射部15が形成されている。すなわち、回転板13には、開口部の代わりに反射部15が形成されている。光源12から発振されたレーザ光は、矢印95に示すように、反射部15で反射されて受光部材14a,14bにて検出される。
 反射型のエンコーダにおいても、本実施の形態における光源および受光部材を採用することができる。そして、例えば、固定板およびレンズを有しないエンコーダを構成することができる。第5のエンコーダは、2つの受光部材14a,14bを備えるが、この形態に限られない。エンコーダは、任意の個数の受光部材を配置することができる。
 図22に、本実施の形態における第6のエンコーダの光源の概略斜視図を示す。本実施の形態における第1のエンコーダの光源は、1つの相信号の開口部に対して1つの発光素子が配置されているが、この形態に限られない。第6のエンコーダの光源16は、1つの相信号の開口部に対応する発光素子21aが複数の発光素子27から構成されている。同様に、1つの相信号の開口部に対応する発光素子22bは複数の発光素子27から構成されている。このように、複数の発光素子の組により、1つの相信号の光作用部に対応する発光素子が構成されていても構わない。
 図23に、本実施の形態における第7のエンコーダの光源の概略斜視図を示す。第1のエンコーダの発光素子の平面形状は長方形であるが、この形態に限られない。第7のエンコーダの光源17は、分岐した形状を有する発光素子28を含む。発光素子28は、直線部28aと、直線部28aから枝分かれした複数の分岐部28bを有する。または、複数の微細な発光素子を集積化して任意の形状の発光素子を形成しても構わない。このように、光源の発光素子の形状は、任意の形状を採用することができる。
 図24に、本実施の形態における第8のエンコーダの光源の概略平面図を示す。第8のエンコーダの光源18は、複数の発光素子29を有する。それぞれの発光素子29は、扇形が複数連なる平面形状を有する。このときの発光素子29の幅aは、回転板の周方向(開口部が移動する方向)に対応する方向の長さのうち最大の長さを採用することができる。発光素子29のピッチは、幅aが繰り返される間隔を採用することができる。また、第8のエンコーダの回転板および受光素子の構成は、本実施の形態の第1のエンコーダと同様である。
 図25に、第8のエンコーダの受光部材により検出される信号強度のグラフを示す。図24および図25を参照して、扇形を互いに連結した形状を有する発光素子29を採用することにより、回転板の変位(回転位置)に対する信号強度の変化を曲線状にすることができる。特に、正弦波の形状にて変化する信号強度を得ることができる。
 なお、発光素子の平面形状を四角形にして、回転板の開口部の形状を複数のひし形が連結された形状にすることによっても、図25に示すような正弦波の形状を有する信号強度を得ることができる。
 図26に、本実施の形態における第9のエンコーダの回転板の概略平面図を示す。図3および図26を参照して、第9のエンコーダは、可動板としての回転板19を備える。前述の第1のエンコーダの回転板3には、A相およびB相に対応する開口部31と、XA相およびXB相に対応する開口部32とが形成されているが、この形態に限られない。第9のエンコーダの回転板19には、回転板3の開口部31と開口部32とが一体化された形状を有する開口部37が形成されている。このように、回転板の1つの開口部から複数の相信号の生成を行う場合に、開口部37の長さLSが照射領域の長さLRよりも大きくてもよい。この場合に、照射領域の長さLRは、受光素子41a,42bの形状に応じて設計される。
 第9のエンコーダにおいても、発光素子21a,22a,21b,22bが出射する光は、それぞれの相信号に応じて周方向に位相をずらした領域に照射されるために、レーザ光の干渉を回避することができる。また、径方向においても各相ごとにレーザ光のビームパターンを出射することにより、照射領域が分離されて、レーザ光の干渉を回避することができる。
 本実施の形態におけるエンコーダは、インクリメンタル方式のエンコーダである。すなわち、Z相の信号により回転軸の回転数を検出し、信号強度が大きくなったり小さくなったりする信号の変化に基づいて1回転内の回転角度を検出することができる。エンコーダとしては、この形態に限られず、アブソリュート方式のエンコーダにも本実施の形態の構成を適用することができる。アブソリュート方式のエンコーダは、径方向および周方向に沿ってビット列に対応する開口部が形成される。例えば、径方向にビット列に対応する開口部を形成する方式としてバイナリー方式またはグレイコード方式を採用することができる。また、周方向に沿ってビット列に対応する開口部を形成する方式として、連続する複数の点のビット列を測定するM系列の方式などを採用することができる。
 本実施の形態のエンコーダは、開口部が形成された固定板およびレーザ光の向きを変えるレンズを有しないが、この形態に限られない。開口部が形成された固定部材および光学系のレンズのうち少なくとも一方が配置されていても構わない。
 本実施の形態のエンコーダは、可動板としての回転板が回転するロータリーエンコーダであるが、この形態に限られない。可動板としての移動板が所定の方向に移動するリニアエンコーダにも、本実施の形態における構成を適用することができる。
 上記の通りに説明した少なくとも一つの実施の形態によれば、1つの部材に対する他の部材の相対的な位置を検出する精度に優れ、構造が簡易なエンコーダを提供することができる。
 本開示について詳述したが、本開示は上述した個々の実施形態に限定されるものではない。これらの実施形態は、本開示の要旨を逸脱しない範囲で、または、請求の範囲に記載された内容とその均等物から導き出される本開示の趣旨を逸脱しない範囲で、種々の追加、置き換え、変更、部分的削除等が可能である。また、これらの実施形態は、組み合わせて実施することもできる。例えば、上述した実施形態において、各動作の順序や各処理の順序は、一例として示したものであり、これらに限定されるものではない。また、上述した実施形態の説明に数値又は数式が用いられている場合も同様である。
 上記の実施の形態および変形例に関して以下の付記を開示する。
 (付記1)
 レーザ光を発振する発光素子を含む光源と、
 光源から出射されたレーザ光に作用する光作用部を含む可動板と、
 可動板から到達するレーザ光を検出する受光素子を含む受光部材と、を備え、
 光作用部は、レーザ光を透過するための開口部またはレーザ光を反射するための反射部を有し、
 発光素子は、フォトニック結晶を有し、レーザ光のパラメータを調整可能な半導体レーザ素子を含み、
 半導体レーザ素子は、可動板に照射されたレーザ光の幅が光作用部の幅と略同じになるようにレーザ光を出射するように形成されている、エンコーダ。
 (付記2)
 レーザ光のパラメータは、出射角度、拡がり角、波長、および位相のうち、少なくとも一つを含む、付記1に記載のエンコーダ。
 (付記3)
 半導体レーザ素子は、光源の出射面におけるレーザ光の幅が可動板の光作用部の幅よりも小さくなるように、出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている、付記2に記載のエンコーダ。
 (付記4)
 光源は、複数の発光素子を含み、
 可動板は、光作用部が移動する方向に並んだ複数の光作用部を含み、
 発光素子は、可動板に照射されたレーザ光のピッチが光作用部のピッチと略同じになるように、出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている、付記2または3に記載のエンコーダ。
 (付記5)
 光源は、複数の相信号に対応するレーザ光を発振する複数の発光素子を有し、
 可動板は、複数の相信号に対応するように形成された複数の光作用部を有し、
 受光部材は、複数の相信号に対応するレーザ光を検出する複数の受光素子を有し、
 それぞれの発光素子は、予め定められた相信号に対応する波長のレーザ光を発振するように形成されており、
 それぞれの受光素子は、予め定められた相信号に対応する波長のレーザ光を検出するように形成されている、付記1に記載のエンコーダ。

Claims (5)

  1.  レーザ光を発振する発光素子を含む光源と、
     前記光源から出射されたレーザ光に作用する光作用部を含む可動板と、
     前記可動板から到達するレーザ光を検出する受光素子を含む受光部材と、を備え、
     前記光作用部は、レーザ光を透過するための開口部またはレーザ光を反射するための反射部を有し、
     前記発光素子は、フォトニック結晶を有し、レーザ光のパラメータを調整可能な半導体レーザ素子を含み、
     前記半導体レーザ素子は、前記可動板に照射されたレーザ光の幅が前記光作用部の幅と略同じになるようにレーザ光を出射するように形成されている、エンコーダ。
  2.  レーザ光のパラメータは、出射角度、拡がり角、波長、および位相のうち、少なくとも一つを含む、請求項1に記載のエンコーダ。
  3.  前記半導体レーザ素子は、前記光源の出射面におけるレーザ光の幅が前記可動板の前記光作用部の幅よりも小さくなるように、出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている、請求項2に記載のエンコーダ。
  4.  前記光源は、複数の前記発光素子を含み、
     前記可動板は、前記光作用部が移動する方向に並んだ複数の前記光作用部を含み、
     前記発光素子は、前記可動板に照射されたレーザ光のピッチが前記光作用部のピッチと略同じになるように、出射角度および拡がり角のうち少なくとも一方が調整されている、請求項2または3に記載のエンコーダ。
  5.  前記光源は、複数の相信号に対応するレーザ光を発振する複数の前記発光素子を有し、
     前記可動板は、複数の相信号に対応するように形成された複数の前記光作用部を有し、
     前記受光部材は、複数の相信号に対応するレーザ光を検出する複数の前記受光素子を有し、
     それぞれの前記発光素子は、予め定められた相信号に対応する波長のレーザ光を発振するように形成されており、
     それぞれの前記受光素子は、予め定められた相信号に対応する波長のレーザ光を検出するように形成されている、請求項1に記載のエンコーダ。
