- Backplane mask typically refers to the mask used in OLED devices.
- the OLED panel includes pixel circuitry and driving circuitry; the pixel circuitry controls the OLED device's light emission.
- the BP mask plays a crucial role in panel manufacturing, ensuring the proper functioning of the pixel circuitry by precisely controlling the layout and connections of the circuitry, thereby achieving high-quality image display.
- the inventors of this application discovered that as the size of OLED display panels continues to increase, the corresponding mask (e.g., a metal mask) also becomes larger, easily leading to significant mask sagging during use. Furthermore, when using a method of splicing multiple masks, gaps exist between the spliced masks, potentially compromising the flatness and thickness uniformity of the film layers on the masks. When photomasks are spliced together, gaps of varying sizes can cause the film layer on the photomask to thin to different degrees at different locations, or even lead to localized breakage of the film layer, thus preventing complete coverage of the photomask. For example, when the film layer on the photomask serves as a protective layer, localized breakage can compromise the surface properties of the photomask, affecting its lifespan.
