Definitions

  • This disclosure relates to an outdoor unit and an air conditioner equipped with a cooler that cools a semiconductor element module.
  • the power supply current which is the current supplied to an air conditioner from an AC power source, contains harmonic currents. Harmonic currents are frequency components with frequencies higher than the fundamental wave frequency. To suppress interference caused by harmonic currents, international regulations have been established for electronic devices that generate harmonic currents. To comply with these regulations, converters take measures to suppress the harmonic currents contained in the power supply current by chopping at AC (Alternating Current) or DC (Direct Current).
  • Patent Document 1 discloses a power conversion device equipped with a three-phase PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) converter.
  • a three-phase PWM converter is a converter that performs AC chopping.
  • the use of any converter, not just a three-phase PWM converter, controls the power supply current to a sinusoidal waveform, making it easier to suppress power supply harmonics, which are harmonic currents contained in the power supply current. For this reason, converters are now being installed in the outdoor units of air conditioners.
  • converters are equipped with one or more semiconductor elements.
  • the converter's semiconductor elements, along with the inverter's semiconductor elements, are heat-generating components that generate heat when the compressor is running. Therefore, outdoor units equipped with converters must be able to cool the semiconductor element modules housing the semiconductor elements more efficiently than outdoor units without converters. Furthermore, because outdoor units are installed outdoors, they are prone to heat buildup inside due to exposure to direct sunlight, etc. Furthermore, due to the effects of global warming in recent years, summer days with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius have become the norm in Japan, and this climate change is causing the environmental conditions for outdoor units in the summer to worsen. While increasing the size of the outdoor unit is one solution, this would place greater restrictions on installation space, making it desirable to avoid such an increase.
  • the present disclosure has been made in light of the above, and aims to provide an outdoor unit that can efficiently cool semiconductor element modules while avoiding the outdoor unit becoming larger.
  • the outdoor unit of the present disclosure comprises mechanical components including a compressor for compressing a refrigerant, a fan that rotates when the compressor is operating, electrical components including a board mounting a semiconductor element module that houses semiconductor elements that generate heat when the compressor is operating, a cooler that cools the semiconductor element module, and a housing that houses the fan, mechanical components, electrical components, and cooler.
  • the fan and cooler are housed in a first compartment inside the housing, and the mechanical and electrical components are housed in a second compartment inside the housing.
  • the first and second compartments are separated by the board and a partition plate parallel to the side panels of the housing.
  • An air outlet is formed in the center of the part of the front panel of the housing that is located in the first compartment.

Description

この規制を遵守するため、コンバータでは、AC(Alternating Current:交流)又はDC(Direct Current:直流)でのチョッピングにより、電源電流に含まれる高調波電流を抑制する施策がとられる。
 下記特許文献1には、三相PWM(Pulse Width Modulation:パルス幅変調)コンバータを備えた電力変換装置が開示されている。

電流検出器5a,5bの一例は、ACCT(Alternating Current Current Transformer:交流変流器)である。
図1では、半導体素子Q1~Q6がIGBT(Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor:絶縁ゲート型バイポーラトランジスタ)である場合を示しているが、IGBTに代えてMOSFET(Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor:金属酸化物半導体電界効果トランジスタ)を用いてもよい。
また、IGBTに代えてIGCT(Integrated Gate Commutated Thyristor:集積化ゲート転流型サイリスタ)を用いてもよい。
プロセッサ201は、マイクロプロセッサ、マイクロコンピュータ、CPU(Central Processing Unit)、又はDSP(Digital Signal Processor)と称される演算手段であってもよい。また、メモリ202には、RAM(Random Access Memory)、ROM(Read Only Memory)、フラッシュメモリ、EPROM(Erasable Programmable ROM)、EEPROM(登録商標)(Electrically EPROM)といった不揮発性又は揮発性の半導体メモリ、磁気ディスク、フレキシブルディスク、光ディスク、コンパクトディスク、ミニディスク、DVD(Digital Versatile Disc)を例示することができる。
