Abstract

硫化物固体電解質は、リチウム(Li)元素、リン(P)元素、硫黄(S)元素及びハロゲン(X)元素を含み、X線回折パターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°にピークを有する。X線回折パターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°に観察される各ピークの半値幅がいずれも0.1°以上であることが好適である。ハロゲン(X)元素が少なくともヨウ素(I)元素を含むことも好適である。

Description

硫化物固体電解質及びそれを含む電池
 本発明は、硫化物固体電解質及びそれを含む電池に関する。
 近年、二酸化炭素の削減による地球温暖化防止に向けた取り組みとして、二次電池が注目されている。なかでも固体電池は、安全性と高エネルギー密度を兼ね備えた電池として実用化が期待されている。固体電池の各種性能を向上させることを目的として、固体電解質に関する様々な技術が提案されている。
 固体電解質に要求される特性の一つとして、固体電解質と活物質との接触の程度を高めて固体電池の抵抗を低下させる観点から、固体電解質の柔軟性の高さが挙げられる。固体電解質の中には柔軟性に乏しいものがあるところ、柔軟性の向上を目的として、特許文献1には、組成式Li8.29Sn0.6010.300.09で表され、X線回折図において回折角度2θが19.80°±0.50°、20.10°±0.50°、26.60°±0.50°及び29.30°±0.50°の位置に回折ピークを有する結晶相を有する硫化物固体電解質が提案されている。

 しかし、同文献に記載の固体電解質には柔軟性に関し更に改良の余地がある。
 したがって本発明の課題は、前述した従来技術よりも柔軟性が高い固体電解質を提供することにある。
 本発明は、リチウム(Li)元素、リン(P)元素、硫黄(S)元素及びハロゲン(X)元素を含み、
 X線回折パターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°にピークを有する、硫化物固体電解質を提供するものである。

 以下、本発明を、その好ましい実施形態に基づき説明する。本発明は硫化物固体電解質に係るものである。本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、リチウムイオン伝導性を有する。本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、その構成元素として、リチウム(Li)元素、リン(P)元素、硫黄(S)元素及びハロゲン(X)元素を含む。ハロゲン(X)元素としては、フッ素(F)元素、塩素(Cl)元素、臭素(Br)元素、及びヨウ素(I)元素を挙げることができる。ハロゲン(X)元素は、これらの元素のうちの1種であってもよく、あるいは2種以上の組み合わせであってもよい。本発明の硫化物固体電解質の一例として、組成式LiPS(アルジロダイト型結晶構造の結晶相を有する固体電解質、「X」は1種以上のハロゲン元素を示す。添え字a、b及びcの詳細については後述する。)で表される化合物が挙げられる。なかでも、アルジロダイト型結晶構造を有する結晶相を含む硫化物固体電解質は、イオン伝導性に優れることから好ましく用いることができる。アルジロダイト型結晶構造を有する結晶相を含む硫化物固体電解質の詳細については後述する。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、CuKα1線を用いてX線回折(XRD)測定したときのX線回折パターンにおいて、特定の回折角度の位置に回折ピークが観察される点に特徴の一つを有する。具体的には、本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、XRDパターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°に少なくとも回折ピークを有することが好ましい。この位置に回折ピークを有する本発明の硫化物固体電解質は圧縮に対する柔軟性が高く、圧縮を受けた場合に容易に変形しやすいものとなる。また、圧縮力を解放した場合にスプリングバックが生じにくい。その結果、本発明の固体電解質は活物質との接触が良好になる。このことに起因して、本発明の固体電解質を含む電池は、その内部抵抗が低くなる。したがって、本発明の固体電解質を含む電池はレート特性に優れたものとなる。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、上述のとおり、XRD測定をした場合に回折ピークが観察されるものであることから結晶性を有する。尤も、本発明の硫化物固体電解質の結晶性は比較的低いことが、圧縮に対する柔軟性が高くなることから好ましい。一般に物質の結晶性は、当該物質をXRD測定した場合に観察される回折ピークの半値幅で評価することができる。具体的には、回折ピークの半値幅が大きいほど結晶性が低いと評価することができる。この観点から、本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、XRDパターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°に観察される各ピークの半値幅がいずれも、それぞれ独立に、0.1°以上であることが好ましく、0.12°以上であることが更に好ましく、0.15°以上であることが一層好ましい。
 また、本発明の硫化物固体電解質にはある程度の結晶性が必要されることから、XRDパターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°に観察される各ピークの半値幅が、それぞれ独立に、1.5°以下であることが好ましく、1.4°以下であることが更に好ましく、1.3°以下であることが一層好ましい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質をXRD測定したときに、上述した位置に回折ピークが観察されるようにするためには、本発明の硫化物固体電解質がアルジロダイト型結晶構造を有する結晶相を含み、且つ、ハロゲン(X)元素として少なくともヨウ素(I)元素を含むことが有利であることが本発明者の検討の結果判明した。特に、本発明の硫化物固体電解質が組成式LiPS(添え字a、b及びcの詳細については後述する。)で表される結晶相を含むことが有利であることが判明した。尤もこのことは、本発明の硫化物固体電解質がX元素としてI元素のみを含有することに限定されることは意味しない。本発明の硫化物固体電解質が、X元素としてI元素以外のハロゲン元素を含むことは許容される。例えば本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、X元素としてI元素及びI元素以外の1又は2以上のハロゲン元素を含んでもよい。具体的には、本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、組成式LiPSClで表されるものであってもよく、組成式LiPSClBrで表されるものであってもよい。つまりX元素としてI元素及びCl元素を含んでいてもよく、X元素としてI元素、Cl元素及びBr元素を含んでいてもよい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、XRDパターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、25.6°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°、29.9°±0.3°及び30.6±0.4°に回折ピークを有してもよい。これらの位置に観察される回折ピークは、アルジロダイト型結晶構造を有する結晶相に由来する。更に、本発明においては、XRDパターンにおいて17.6°±0.3°に回折ピークを有していてもよい。前記位置に観察される回折ピークは、X元素としてI元素を含むときに出現すると考えられる。なお、前記回折ピークは、±0.2°の範囲であってもよく、±0.1°の範囲であってもよい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、該硫化物固体電解質に柔軟性を付与する観点から、X線回折パターンにおいて、2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°に観察される回折ピークに由来する結晶相の歪が、それぞれ独立に、0.3%以上であることが好ましく、0.35%以上であることが更に好ましく、0.40%以上であることが一層好ましい。本発明の硫化物固体電解質が複数の結晶相を含む場合には、少なくとも一つの結晶相の歪みが前記の条件を満たしていればよく、すべての結晶相の歪みが前記の条件を満たしていることが好ましい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質において、組成式LiPSClで表される結晶相が存在することは妨げられないが、当該結晶相の存在は少ないことが好ましい。この観点から、LiPSClで表される結晶相における代表的な回折ピークである2θ=25.6°±0.3°に観察される回折ピークの高さをIとし、LiPSで表される結晶相における代表的な回折ピークである2θ=24.9°±0.3°に観察される回折ピークの高さをIとしたとき、Iに対するIの比であるI/Iの値が0.5以下であることが好ましく、0.4以下であることが更に好ましく、0.3以下であることが一層好ましい。
 I/Iの値の下限値に特に制限はないが、例えば0.01以上であってもよく、0.02以上であってもよく、あるいは0.03以上であってもよい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、XRD測定において、アルジロダイト型結晶構造を有する結晶相に由来する回折ピークが観察されることに加えて、他の結晶相に由来する回折ピークが観察される場合がある。そのような回折ピークとしては、例えば硫化物固体電解質を製造するための原料に由来するピークが挙げられる。当該原料に由来するピークとしては、例えば硫化リチウム(LiS)に由来するピークが挙げられる。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質がアルジロダイト型結晶構造の結晶相を有する場合、該硫化物固体電解質は、上述のとおり、組成式(I):LiPSで表されることが、リチウムイオン伝導性の向上の観点から好ましい。この場合、Xは少なくともヨウ素元素を含むことが好ましい。
 組成式(I)において、Li元素のモル比を示すaは、例えば3.0以上であることが好ましく、なかでも4.0以上であることが好ましく、特に5.0以上であることが好ましい。また、aは、例えば6.5以下であることが好ましく、なかでも5.9以下であることが好ましく、特に5.6以下であることが好ましい。aがこの範囲であることにより、室温(25℃)近傍における立方晶系アルジロダイト型結晶構造がより安定となることで、構造中にリチウムイオン空孔を十分に導入することができ、結果としてリチウムイオン伝導性を効果的に高めることができる。
 組成式(I)においてbは、例えば3.5以上であることが好ましく、なかでも4.0以上であることが好ましく、特に、4.2以上であることが好ましい。また、bは、例えば5.5以下であることが好ましく、なかでも4.9以下であることが好ましく、特に4.7以下であることが好ましい。bが前記範囲内であることにより、室温(25℃)近傍におけるアルジロダイト型結晶構造がより安定となり、リチウムイオン伝導性が効果的に高くなる。
 組成式(I)においてcは、例えば0.1以上であることが好ましく、なかでも1.0以上であることが好ましく、1.1以上であることが更に好ましく、特に1.4以上であることが好ましい。また、cは、例えば2.5以下であることが好ましく、なかでも2.0以下であることが好ましく、特に1.8以下であることが好ましい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質がアルジロダイト型結晶構造の結晶相を有する場合、該硫化物固体電解質は、組成式(II):Li7-dPS6-dで表されるものであってもよい。この場合、Xは少なくともヨウ素元素を含むことが好ましい。組成式(II)で表される組成は、アルジロダイト型結晶相の化学量論組成である。
 組成式(II)において、dは、例えば0.4以上であることが好ましく、なかでも0.8以上であることが好ましく、特に1.2以上であることが好ましい。また、dは、例えば2.2以下であることが好ましく、なかでも2.0以下であることが好ましく、特に1.8以下であることが好ましい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質がアルジロダイト型結晶構造の結晶相を有する場合、該硫化物固体電解質は、組成式(III):Li7-d-2ePS6-d-eで表されるものであってもよい。この場合、Xは少なくともヨウ素元素を含むことが好ましい。組成式(III)で表される組成を有するアルジロダイト型結晶相は、例えば、組成式(II)で表される組成を有するアルジロダイト型結晶相とP(五硫化二リン)との反応により生成する。
 組成式(III)において、eは、組成式(II)で表される化学量論組成からのLiS成分のずれを示す値である。eは、例えば、-0.9以上であることが好ましく、なかでも-0.6以上であることが好ましく、特に-0.3以上であることが好ましい。また、eは、例えば(-d+2)以下であることが好ましく、なかでも(-d+1.6)以下であることが好ましく、特に(-d+1.0)以下であることが好ましい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質においては、P元素に対するすべてのX元素の原子数比X/Pが、例えば1.0以上であることが好ましく、1.1以上であることが更に好ましく、1.2以上であることが一層好ましく、1.4以上であることがより一層好ましい。また、原子数比X/Pは、例えば、2.5以下であることが好ましく、2.3以下であることが更に好ましく、2.2以下であることが一層好ましい。原子数比X/Pが前記範囲内であることでリチウムイオン伝導性が更に向上する。原子数比X/Pは、例えば高周波誘導結合プラズマ発光分光分析法(ICP発光分光分析法)、SEM―EDS分析によって測定できる。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は粒子の集合体であることが好ましい。この場合、表面積の増大に起因する抵抗増大の抑制する観点及び活物質との混合を容易にする観点から、レーザー回折散乱式粒度分布測定法による累積体積50容量%における体積累積粒径D50が好ましくは0.1μm以上、より好ましくは0.4μm以上、更に好ましくは0.6μm以上である。また加熱による結着、凝集、粒径成長を抑制する観点から、体積累積粒径D50は、好ましくは100μm以下、より好ましくは10μm以下、更に好ましくは5μm以下、特に好ましくは1μm以下である。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、固体の状態においてリチウムイオン伝導性を有するものである。本発明の固体電解質のリチウムイオン伝導率は、例えば、室温、すなわち25℃で、1.0mS/cm以上であることが好ましく、1.2mS/cm以上であることが更に好ましく、なかでも1.3mS/cm以上、とりわけ1.5mS/cm以上であることが好ましい。リチウムイオン伝導率は、後述する実施例に記載の方法を用いて測定できる。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、これと活物質とを含む電極合剤として用いることができる。あるいは、本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、これを含有する固体電解質層として用いることもできる。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質を用いることによって、例えば正極層と、負極層と、前記正極層及び前記負極層の間に位置する固体電解質層とを有し、且つ本発明の硫化物固体電解質を含有する固体電池を作製することができる。
 次に、本発明の硫化物固体電解質の好適な製造方法について説明する。本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、好適には、原料組成物をメカニカルミリングに付して得ることができる。前記の原料組成物は、固体電解質を構成する上述の各元素を含む原料の混合物のことである。原料組成物は、Li元素、P元素、S元素及びX元素のうちの少なくとも一種を含む化合物を一種又は二種以上含む。
 前記化合物は、例えばLi元素を含有する化合物、S元素を含有する化合物、P元素を含有する化合物、及びX元素を含有する化合物であり得る。
 また、前記化合物は、一つの化合物中に、Li元素、P元素、S元素及びX元素のうちの少なくとも二種以上の元素を含んでいてもよい。例えば前記化合物として、Li元素及びX元素を含む化合物や、P元素及びS元素を含む化合物や、Li元素及びS元素を含む化合物や、P元素及びX元素を含む化合物や、S元素及びX元素を含む化合物を用いることができる。
 Li元素及びX元素を含む化合物としては、例えばヨウ化リチウムや塩化リチウムなどのハロゲン化リチウムを用いることができる。
 P元素及びS元素を含む化合物としては、例えば三硫化ニリン(P)及び五硫化二リン(P)などの硫化リンを用いることができる。
 Li元素及びS元素を含む化合物としては、例えば硫化リチウム(LiS)を用いることができる。
 P元素及びX元素を含む化合物としては、例えばPXやPなどのハロゲン化リンを用いることができる。
 S元素及びX元素を含む化合物としては、例えばSX、SX、SX、S10などのハロゲン化硫黄を用いることができる。
 特に、前記原料組成物が、前記化合物として硫化リチウム、硫化リン、及びヨウ化リチウムや塩化リチウムなどのハロゲン化リチウムを含むことが、圧縮に対する柔軟性が高い硫化物固体電解質を首尾よく合成し得る点から好ましい。
 前記原料組成物を調製する場合、上述した組成式(I)から(III)のいずれかで表される組成となる量で各化合物を混合することが、圧縮に対する柔軟性が高い硫化物固体電解質が得られる点、及び硫化物固体電解質からの硫化水素の発生を抑制し得る観点から好ましい。
 上述の各化合物を混合して原料組成物を調製する。混合には、例えばアトライター、ペイントシェーカー、遊星ボールミル、ボールミル、ビーズミル、ホモジナイザー等を用いることができる。各原料の混合に際しての添加量は、目的とする硫化物固体電解質の組成を満たすように適宜調整される。
 混合の引き続きの操作としてメカニカルミリングを行い原料組成物中に含まれる各成分を反応させて、目的とする硫化物固体電解質を得る。このような方法で硫化物固体電解質を得ることで、当該硫化物固体電解質の結晶性が過度に高まることを効果的に抑制できる。したがって本製造方法においては、硫化物固体電解質の結晶性が高まる操作である、原料組成物の焼成による硫化物固体電解質の生成は行わないことが好ましい。
 メカニカルミリングによって硫化物固体電解質を得る場合には、遊星ボールミルを用いることが好ましい。遊星ボールミルを用いると、原料組成物を充填する容器が高速で自公転するので、原料組成物とともに容器内に入れる粉砕メディアであるボールと原料組成物との間に適度な衝撃エネルギーが発生し、低結晶性の硫化物固体電解質を首尾よく得ることができる。
 遊星ボールミルを用いてメカニカルミリングを行う条件として、装置の公転及び/又は自転回転数、ボールの直径、材質及び混合容器の体積に占めるボール体積比率、並びに混合時間等を調整する方法が挙げられる。
 例えば原料組成物を、200rpm以上、好ましくは300rpm以上、更に好ましくは350rpm以上の自転回転数で、好ましくは25時間以上、より好ましくは35時間以上、更に好ましく45時間以上処理する。
 粉砕メディアとしてのボールはZrO、Al、Si(窒化ケイ素)又はWC(タングステンカーバイド)製が好ましい。ボール径は例えば0.2mm以上10mm以下であることが好ましい。
 このようにして得られた硫化物固体電解質は、それ単独で又は他の固体電解質と混合して用いることができる。具体的には、硫化物固体電解質が、Li元素、P元素、S元素及びI元素からなる場合には、該硫化物固体電解質を、Li元素、P元素、S元素及びCl元素からなる硫化物固体電解質と混合して用いてもよい。
 硫化物固体電解質の別の製造方法として、好適には、原料組成物を加熱焼結させる固相反応を採用することもできる。この製造方法を採用する場合、原料組成物を焼成工程に付して固相反応を生じさせ、結晶質の焼成物を得る。焼成雰囲気は、例えばアルゴン雰囲気や窒素雰囲気などの不活性ガス雰囲気、及び硫化水素雰囲気を用いることができる。固体電解質に含まれる硫黄元素の割合を調整する観点からは、不活性ガス雰囲気を採用することが好ましい。焼成時間は臨界的でなく、目的とする組成の焼成物が得られる時間であればよい。具体的には、原料組成物の固相反応が十分に生じる程度の焼成時間であることが好ましい。焼成時間は、例えば30分以上であってもよく、2時間以上であってもよく、3時間以上であってもよい。一方、焼成時間は、例えば10時間以下であってもよく、5時間以下であってもよい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、固体電解質層、正極層又は負極層を構成する材料として用いることができる。具体的には、正極層と、負極層と、正極層及び負極層の間に位置する固体電解質層とを有する電池に、本発明の硫化物固体電解質を用いることができる。つまり本発明の硫化物固体電解質は固体電池に用いることができる。より具体的には、リチウム固体電池に用いることができる。リチウム固体電池は、一次電池であってもよく、あるいは二次電池であってもよい。電池の形状に特に制限はなく、例えばラミネート型、円筒型及び角型等の形状を採用することができる。「固体電池」とは、液状物質又はゲル状物質を電解質として一切含まない固体電池の他、例えば50質量%以下、30質量%以下、10質量%以下の液状物質又はゲル状物質を電解質として含む態様も包含する。
 固体電解質層に本発明の硫化物固体電解質が含まれる場合、該固体電解質層は、例えば硫化物固体電解質とバインダー及び溶剤からなるスラリーを基体上に滴下し、ドクターブレードなどで擦り切る方法、基体とスラリーとを接触させた後にエアーナイフで切る方法、スクリーン印刷法等で塗膜を形成し、その後加熱乾燥を経て溶剤を除去する方法等で製造できる。あるいは、粉末状の硫化物固体電解質をプレス等によって圧粉体とした後、適宜加工して製造することもできる。
 固体電解質層の厚さは、短絡防止と体積容量密度とのバランスから、典型的には5μm以上300μm以下であることが好ましく、なかでも10μm以上100μm以下であることが更に好ましい。
 本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、活物質ともに用いられて電極合剤を構成することもできる。電極合剤における硫化物固体電解質の割合は、典型的には10質量%以上50質量%以下である。電極合剤は、必要に応じて導電材等の他の材料を含んでもよい。上述したとおり、本発明の硫化物固体電解質は、圧縮に対する柔軟性が高いことから、活物質との密着性が良好になる。したがって、本発明の硫化物固体電解質を含む電極合剤を用いて製造された固体電池は内部抵抗が低いものとなる。
 電極合剤と結合剤と溶剤とを混合してペーストを作製し、アルミニウム箔等の集電体上に塗布、乾燥させることによって正極や負極などの電極を作製できる。
 正極層を構成する正極材としては、リチウムイオン電池の正極活物質として使用されている正極材を適宜使用可能である。例えばリチウムを含む正極活物質、具体的にはスピネル型リチウム遷移金属酸化物及び層状構造を備えたリチウム金属酸化物等を挙げることができる。正極材として高電圧系正極材を使用することで、エネルギー密度の向上を図ることができる。正極材には、正極活物質の他に、導電材を含ませてもよく、あるいは他の材料を含ませてもよい。
 負極層を構成する負極材としては、リチウムイオン電池の負極活物質として使用されている負極材を適宜使用可能である。本発明の硫化物固体電解質は電気化学的に安定であることから、リチウム金属又はリチウム金属に匹敵する卑な電位(約0.1V対Li/Li)で充放電する材料であるグラファイト、人造黒鉛、天然黒鉛、難黒鉛化性炭素(ハードカーボン)などの炭素系材料を負極材として使用できる。それによって固体電池のエネルギー密度を大きく向上させ得る。また、高容量材料として有望なケイ素又はスズを活物質として使用することもできる。負極材についても、負極活物質の他に導電材を含ませてもよく、あるいは他の材料を含ませてもよい。
 上述した実施形態に関し、本発明は更に以下の硫化物固体電解質及び電池を開示する。

 以下、実施例により本発明を更に詳細に説明する。しかしながら本発明の範囲は、かかる実施例に制限されない。特に断らない限り、「%」は「質量%」を意味する。
  〔実施例1〕
 以下の表1に示す原料質量比となるように、硫化リチウム(LiS)粉末と、五硫化二リン(P)粉末と、ヨウ化リチウム(LiI)粉末とをそれぞれ秤量した。これらの粉末にヘプタンを加えてスラリーを調製した。このスラリーをジルコニア容器に入れ、遊星ボールミル装置にセットした。粉砕メディアとして直径5mmのジルコニア製ボールを用いた。ボールミル装置の運転条件は370rpmとし、50時間にわたって湿式混合しメカニカルミリングを行った。混合後のスラリーを室温真空乾燥することでヘプタンを除去した。このようにして目的とする硫化物固体電解質の粉末(D50=10.0μm)を得た。
  〔実施例2〕
 以下の表1に示す原料質量比となるように、硫化リチウム(LiS)粉末と、五硫化二リン(P)粉末と、ヨウ化リチウム(LiI)粉末と、塩化リチウム(LiCl)粉末とをそれぞれ秤量し、遊星ボールミル装置で3時間粉砕混合して混合粉を調製した。混合粉から溶媒を除去した後に、混合粉を電気炉内にセットした。電気炉内に窒素ガスを1.0L/minで流通させながら、昇温速度200℃/hで加熱し、500℃で4時間焼成し、焼成物を得た。この焼成物をヘプタンと混合してスラリーとし、このスラリーを遊星ボールミル装置で粉砕した。混合後のスラリーを室温で真空乾燥することでヘプタンを除去して焼成粉を得た。この焼成粉を目開き53μmの篩を用いて篩い分けし、篩を通過した焼成物を硫化物固体電解質の粉末とした。秤量、混合、電気炉へのセット、電気炉からの取り出し、粉砕及び篩い分け作業はすべて、十分に乾燥されたArガス(露点-60℃以下)で置換されたグローブボックス内で実施した。このようにして目的とする硫化物固体電解質の粉末(D50=1.6μm)を得た。
  〔実施例3〕
 以下の表1に示す原料質量比となるように、硫化リチウム(LiS)粉末と、五硫化二リン(P)粉末と、塩化リチウム(LiCl)粉末とをそれぞれ秤量した。これ以外は実施例2と同様にして、目的とする硫化物固体電解質の粉末を得た。
  〔比較例1〕
 以下の表1に示す原料質量比となるように、硫化リチウム(LiS)粉末と、五硫化二リン(P)粉末と、塩化リチウム(LiCl)粉末とをそれぞれ秤量した。これ以外は実施例2と同様にして、目的とする硫化物固体電解質の粉末を得た。
  〔評価〕
 実施例及び比較例で得られた硫化物固体電解質について、以下に述べる方法でXRD測定を行った(ただし実施例3を除く)。その結果を以下の図1から図3に示す。併せて、半値幅及び結晶相の歪みの測定を行った。
 更に、実施例及び比較例で得られた硫化物固体電解質について、以下に述べる方法で圧縮に対する変形率及び圧縮を解放した後の弾性回復率を測定した。
 更に、実施例及び比較例で得られた硫化物固体電解質のイオン伝導率及び硫化物固体電解質を含む固体電池の特性を以下に述べる方法で測定した。それらの結果を以下の表1に示す。
  〔XRD測定〕
 株式会社リガク製のX線回折装置「Smart Lab SE」を用いてXRD測定を行った。測定条件は、大気非曝露、走査軸:2θ/θ、走査範囲:10°以上120°以下、ステップ幅0.02°、走査速度1°/minとした。
 X線源はCuKα1線とした。管電圧は40kV、管電流は80mAとした。
 〔半値幅の測定〕
 前記のXRD測定の結果を、株式会社リガク製のSmartLab StudioIIを用いて解析した。前記で得られたXRDパターンに対して、ピーク形状に分割型擬Voigt関数、バックグラウンドにB-スプラインを用いてピークプロファイルフィッティングを行った。該当するピークの「FWHM(°)」から、半値幅を得た。
  〔結晶相の歪の測定〕
 前記のXRD測定の結果を、Malvern Panalytical製のHighScore Plusを用いて解析した。Line profile analysisモードにおいて、得られたXRDパターンのバックグラウンド指定とピークサーチによるピークの特定とを行った。次に、プロファイル関数として擬Voigt関数を用いて、Default profile fitモードでprofile fitを行った。解析したい結晶相のピークを選択し、Williamson-Hallプロットの傾きから各結晶相の歪を算出した。
  〔圧縮に対する変形率〕
 図4に示す変形率測定装置10を用いて測定を行った。
 この装置の分解斜視図を図5に示す。同図に示すとおり、変形率測定装置10は、硫化物固体電解質の収容部13を備えている。収容部13は円柱状をしており、収容部13と同心円状の円柱の空間13s内に硫化物固体電解質を収容可能になっている。空間13sは収容部13を貫通している。
 変形率測定装置10は、第1の閉塞部材11及び第2の閉塞部材12を更に備えている。
 第1の閉塞部材11は、収容部13の空間13sの形状と相補形状を有する円柱状の第1の挿入部11aを有している。第1の挿入部11aは、円盤状をした基台11bの下面から垂下している。基台11bには、これを厚み方向に貫通する複数の貫通孔11cが形成されている。貫通孔11cには、後述するボルト14が挿通される。
 第2の閉塞部材12は、収容部13の空間13sの形状と相補形状を有する円柱状の第2の挿入部12aを有している。第2の挿入部12aは、円盤状をした基台12bの上面に立設されている。基台12bには、これを厚み方向に貫通する複数の貫通孔12cが形成されている。貫通孔12cには、後述するボルト14が挿通される。貫通孔12cは、貫通孔11cと同数設けられている。
 第1の閉塞部材11が有する第1の挿入部11aの高さH1と、第2の閉塞部材12が有する第2の挿入部12aの高さH2の和であるH1+H2の値は、収容部の高さ、すなわち空間13sの高さH3よりも大きくなっている。なお、図5では、第1の挿入部11aの高さH1の方が、第2の挿入部12aの高さH2よりも大きくなっている状態が示されているが、H1とH2の大小関係はこれに限られず、H1<H2であってもよく、あるいはH1=H2であってもよい。
 硫化物固体電解質の変形率を測定するには、先ず、図6に示すとおり、第2の閉塞部材12を、第2の挿入部12aが上方を向くように載置し、その状態下に、収容部13における空間13s内に第2の挿入部12aを挿入する。それによって空間13s内に、有底の収容空間Sが形成される。この収容空間Sは、空間13sの容積から第2の挿入部12aの容積を差し引いた容積を有する。この収容空間Sは、直径10mmの円柱状空間である。この収容空間S内に100mgの硫化物固体電解質SEを充填する。
 次に、図7に示すとおり、第1の閉塞部材11における第1の挿入部11aを、下方を向けて収容空間S内に挿入する。第1の挿入部11aが収容空間S内に完全に挿入された状態では、第1の挿入部11aのうち、基端部側が露出した状態になっている。これは、第1の挿入部11aの高さH1と、第2の挿入部12aの高さH2の和であるH1+H2の値が、空間13sの高さH3よりも大きくなっているからである。したがって、第1の挿入部11aが収容空間S内に完全に挿入された状態では、硫化物固体電解質SEは、第1の挿入部11aの上端面と、第2の挿入部12aの上端面との間で圧縮される。
 次に、4本のボルト14(図5参照)を、第1の閉塞部材11に形成された貫通孔11c及び第2の閉塞部材12に形成された貫通孔12cに挿通し、該ボルト14にナット15を螺合して締め付けて、変形率測定装置10を組み上げる。締め付けには図8に示すとおりレンチ16を用いる。上述したとおり、硫化物固体電解質SEは、第1の挿入部11aの上端面と、第2の挿入部12aの上端面との間で圧縮されているので、レンチ16による締め付けの程度を調整することで、硫化物固体電解質SEの圧縮の程度を調整できる。本測定では、レンチ16を用いた締め付けが0.1N・mのトルクで行われるようにした。
 上述のトルクによって各ボルト14の締め付けが完了したら、この状態を1分間保った後、第1の閉塞部材11における基台11bの上面と、第2の閉塞部材12における基台12bの下面との間の距離D(図4参照)をノギスによって測定する。
 次に、ボルト14による締め付け力を増し、10N・mのトルクで締め付けを行、硫化物固体電解質SEを更に圧縮する。この状態を1分間保った後、基台11bの上面と基台12bの下面との間の距離D(図4参照)をノギスによって測定する。
 このようにして得られたD及びDの値に基づき、〔1-D/D×100〕の計算式から硫化物固体電解質の変形率(%)を算出する。変形率は、その値が大きいほど圧縮に対する硫化物固体電解質の柔軟性が大きいことを意味する。
  〔圧縮を解放した後の弾性回復率〕
 距離Dを測定した後の変形率測定装置10において、ボルト14の締め付けを緩めてすべてのボルト14を取り外す。この状態で、基台11bの上面と基台12bの下面との間の距離Dをノギスによって測定する。
 このようにして得られたD及びDの値に基づき、(D-D)/D×100の計算式から圧縮を解放した後の硫化物固体電解質の弾性回復率(%)を算出する。弾性回復率は、その値が大きいほど硫化物固体電解質がスプリングバックしやすいことを意味する。
  〔イオン伝導率〕
 固体電解質を、十分に乾燥されたArガス(露点-60℃以下)で置換されたグローブボックス内で、約6t/cmの荷重を加え一軸加圧成形し、直径10mm、厚み約0.5mm~8mmのペレットからなるリチウムイオン伝導率の測定用サンプルを作製した。サンプルのリチウムイオン伝導率を、東陽テクニカ株式会社のインピーダンス測定装置であるソーラトロン1255Bを用いて測定した。測定は、温度25℃、周波数0.1Hz~1MHzの条件下、交流インピーダンス法によって行った。
  〔固体電池の特性〕
 正極活物質としてLiCo0.6Ni0.2Mn0.2を用い、負極活物質としてグラファイト(Gr)粉末を用いた。固体電解質粉末として、実施例1、2及び3並びに比較例1で得られた硫化物固体電解質を用いた。
 正極活物質、実施例1、2及び3並びに比較例1で得られた硫化物固体電解質及び導電助剤である導電性カーボンを70:27:3の質量比で乳鉢混合して正極合剤粉末を調製した。
 また、負極活物質と固体電解質とを質量比1:1の割合で乳鉢混合して負極合剤粉末を調製した。
 上下が開口したポリプロピレン製の円筒(開口径10.5mm、高さ18mm)の下側開口部を正極電極(SUS製)で閉塞し、その上に固体電解質を載せ、負極電極(SUS製)で閉塞した後、10MPaにて一軸プレスすることで固体電解質層を形成した。次に、負極電極を一旦取り外し、固体電解質層の上に負極合剤粉末を載せて再び負極電極で閉塞した。その後、前記円筒を上下反転させ、正極電極を一旦取り外し、固体電解質層の上に正極合剤粉末を載せて再び正極電極で閉塞した後、60MPaにて一軸プレスすることで、正極合剤、固体電解質層及び負極合剤の3層構造からなる面容量3mAh/cmの固体電池を作製した。
 作製した固体電池を用いて、以下のように充放電試験を実施した。詳細には、電池を充放電する環境温度を25℃となるようにセットした環境試験機内に電池を入れ、充放電できるように準備し、電池温度が環境温度になるまで静置した。
 次に、0.1C(0.3mA/cm)で4.5Vまで定電流定電位充電した後に、0.1C(0.3mA/cm)で2.5Vまで定電流放電し、これを3サイクル繰り返した。その後、充電状態(SOC)が50%になるまで充電を行った後、インピーダンス測定により、保存試験前の電荷移動抵抗値を測定した。
 電池の電荷移動抵抗は、正極層の固体電解質のイオン伝導率に比例することから、活物質と固体電解質の接触性を評価するために、(電池の電荷移動抵抗)/(固体電解質の抵抗)の値を算出した。これは、固体電解質が有するイオン伝導率を一定にしたときにどれだけ活物質と接触するかを示す指標である。
 表1に示す結果から明らかなとおり、各実施例で得られた硫化物固体電解質は、圧縮に対する柔軟性が高く、且つ、圧縮を解放した後のスプリングバックが小さいことが分かる。
 また、各実施例で得られた硫化物固体電解質を含む固体電池は十分な電池特性を有することが分かる。
 以上、詳述したとおり本発明によれば、従来技術よりも柔軟性が高く活物質との接触性が良好な固体電解質、及び内部抵抗が低い電池が提供される。

Claims (8)

  1.  リチウム(Li)元素、リン(P)元素、硫黄(S)元素及びハロゲン(X)元素を含み、
     X線回折パターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°にピークを有する、硫化物固体電解質。
  2.  X線回折パターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°に観察される各ピークの半値幅がいずれも、それぞれ独立に0.1°以上である、請求項1に記載の硫化物固体電解質。
  3.  ハロゲン(X)元素が少なくともヨウ素(I)元素を含む、請求項1に記載の硫化物固体電解質。
  4.  ハロゲン(X)元素がヨウ素(I)元素及び塩素(Cl)元素を含み、
     X線回折パターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、25.6°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°、29.9°±0.3°及び30.6±0.4°にピークを有する、請求項1に記載の硫化物固体電解質。
  5.  X線回折パターンにおいて2θ=24.9°±0.3°、29.2°±0.3°及び30.6°±0.4°に観察される回折ピークに由来する結晶相の歪が、それぞれ独立に、0.3%以上である、請求項1に記載の硫化物固体電解質。
  6.  2θ=25.6°±0.3°に観察されるピークの高さIが、2θ=24.9°±0.3°に観察されるピークの高さIに対して0.01以上0.5以下である、請求項1に記載の硫化物固体電解質。
  7.  アルジロダイト型結晶構造の結晶相を有する、請求項1に記載の硫化物固体電解質。
  8.  正極層と、負極層と、該正極層及び該負極層の間に位置する固体電解質層とを有する電池であって、
     請求項1ないし7のいずれか一項に記載の硫化物固体電解質を含有する、電池。
