Abstract

Description

太陽電池
 本開示は太陽電池に関し、特に、フィルム状の基板を用いた太陽電池に関する。
 特許文献1には、フィルム状の基板を用いた太陽電池が開示されている。特許文献1に記載された太陽電池は、基板の端部を180°折り曲げることによって、端子電極を裏面側に向けている。

 しかしながら、基板の材料として弾性変形しにくい材料を用いた場合、基板を折り曲げると、折り曲げ部分の曲率半径が大きくなるという問題があった。
 本開示においては、フィルム状の基板を用いた太陽電池において、基板の折り曲げ部分の曲率半径を縮小する技術が説明される。
 本開示の一側面による太陽電池は、主領域及び端子領域を含み、第1の表面及び第1の表面の反対側に位置する第2の表面を有するフィルム状の基板と、基板の主領域の第1の表面上に設けられた光電変換層と、基板の端子領域の第2の表面上に設けられた第1の電極層と、基板を貫通して設けられ、光電変換層と第1の電極層を接続する第1のビア導体と、を備え、基板の第1の表面には、第1の電極層と重なる位置に第1のハーフカット溝が設けられている。
 本開示によれば、フィルム状の基板を用いた太陽電池において、基板の折り曲げ部分の曲率半径を縮小する技術が提供される。

 以下、添付図面を参照しながら、本開示に係る技術の実施形態について詳細に説明する。
 図1(a)は、本開示に係る技術の一実施形態による太陽電池100の外観を示す略平面図である。また、図1(b)は、図1(a)に示すA-A線に沿った略断面図である。
 図1(a)に示すように、本実施形態による太陽電池100は、フィルム状の基板10と、基板10の表面11上に設けられた光電変換層21~24とを有している。基板10は、ポリエチレンナフタレートなどの絶縁性材料からなるフレキシブルなフィルム状部材であり、光電変換層21~24の支持体として機能する。基板10の厚みは、例えば75~90μmである。基板10は、主領域10Aと端子領域10B,10Cを含む。光電変換層21~24は、基板10の主領域10Aの表面11に設けられている。
 図2は、太陽電池100の模式的な断面図である。
 図2に示すように、基板10の表面11には、光電変換層21~24と、光電変換層21~24を覆う封止樹脂層80が設けられている。図1(b)においては、光電変換層21~24と封止樹脂層80が省略されている。光電変換層21~24は、入射光を電力に変換する半導体素子であり、基板10の主領域10Aの表面11の外周部を除くほぼ全面に形成されている。封止樹脂層80は、光電変換層21~24の受光面を保護するための保護部材であり、ポリイミドなどの熱硬化性樹脂材料からなる。
 光電変換層21~24は、例えばこの順に直列に接続されている。光電変換層21の端子50は、基板10を貫通して設けられたビア導体51に接続される。光電変換層24の図示しない端子についても、基板10を貫通して設けられた図示しないビア導体に接続される。光電変換層21,24の端子は、着色された樹脂61,62で覆われることにより隠蔽される。光電変換層21と光電変換層22を接続する接続部や、光電変換層23と光電変換層24を接続する接続部についても、着色された樹脂63,64によって隠蔽しても構わない。
 基板10の端子領域10Bには、表面11側に電極層41が設けられ、表面11の反対側に位置する表面12側に電極層31が設けられている。同様に、基板10の端子領域10Cには、表面11側に電極層42が設けられ、表面12側に電極層32が設けられている。電極層31の一方の端部は主領域10Aに達しており、ビア導体51を介して光電変換層21の端子50に接続されている。同様に、電極層32の一方の端部は主領域10Aに達しており、図示しないビア導体を介して光電変換層24の図示しない端子に接続されている。さらに、電極層31の他方の端部は、基板10を貫通して設けられたビア導体52を介して電極層41に接続されている。同様に、電極層32の他方の端部は、基板10を貫通して設けられた図示しないビア導体を介して電極層42に接続されている。
 電極層31,32,41,42の材料としては、フレキシブルな導電ペーストを用いても構わないし、図3に示すように、導電性接着剤91と金属箔92の積層体を用いても構わない。
 本実施形態においては、基板10の表面11にハーフカット溝71,72が設けられている。ハーフカット溝71は、光電変換層21と電極層41の間に設けられ、ハーフカット溝72は、光電変換層24と電極層42の間に設けられている、図1(a)に示す例では、ハーフカット溝71が主領域10Aと端子領域10Bの境界に沿って設けられ、ハーフカット溝72が主領域10Aと端子領域10Cの境界に沿って設けられている。ハーフカット溝71,72の深さは、ハーフカット溝71,72が設けられた部分における基板10の強度が確保される範囲内であり、例えば、基板10の厚さの半分程度である。
 このようなハーフカット溝71,72を設けることにより、基板10の材料としてポリエチレンナフタレートなど弾性変形しにくい材料を用いた場合であっても、ハーフカット溝71,72に沿って基板10を容易に折り曲げることが可能となる。つまり、ハーフカット溝71,72に沿って基板10を折り曲げれば、折り曲げ部分の曲率半径を大幅に縮小することが可能となる。また、ハーフカット溝71,72に沿って基板10を折り曲げても、主領域10Aはほとんど変形しないことから、光電変換層21~24にダメージが加わりにくくなる。
 図4は、本実施形態による太陽電池100を折り曲げた状態を示す模式的な断面図である。
 図4に示す例では、ハーフカット溝71に沿って約90°折り曲げられた端子領域10Bが、基板210と基板220の間に挿入されている。そして、太陽電池100の電極層31が基板210に設けられた電極パターン211に接続され、太陽電池100の電極層41が基板220に設けられた電極パターン221に接続される。このように、実施形態による太陽電池100は、端子領域10Bの両面側から接続が可能である。但し、本発明においてこの点は必須でなく、基板10の表面11側の電極層41,42を省略しても構わない。また、ハーフカット溝71,72についても、主領域10Aと端子領域10B、10Cの境界に沿って設ける点は必須でなく、少なくとも電極層31,32と重なる位置に設けられていれば足りる。したがって、ハーフカット溝71,72がそれぞれ端子領域10B、10C内に設けられていても構わない。
 図5(a)は、第1の変形例による太陽電池101の外観を示す略平面図である。また、図5(b)は、図5(a)に示すA-A線に沿った略断面図である。
 図5(a),(b)に示すように、第1の変形例による太陽電池101は、端子領域10Bの表面11に別のハーフカット溝73,75がさらに設けられ、端子領域10Cの表面11に別のハーフカット溝74,76がさらに設けられている点において図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と相違している。その他の基本的な構成は、図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と同一であることから、同一の要素には同一に符号を付し、重複する説明は省略する。
 ハーフカット溝71,73,75は互いに平行に延在し、ハーフカット溝72,74,76は互いに平行に延在している。これにより、端子領域10B,10Cを同方向に多段階に折り曲げることが可能となる。その結果、端子領域10B,10Cをより大きく折り曲げることができるだけでなく、ハーフカット溝71~76それぞれの折り曲げ角度を緩和することも可能となる。
 図6は、第2の変形例による太陽電池102の外観を示す略平面図である。
 図6に示すように、第2の変形例による太陽電池102は、端子領域10Bの表面11に別のハーフカット溝77がさらに設けられている点において、図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と相違している。その他の基本的な構成は、図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と同一であることから、同一の要素には同一に符号を付し、重複する説明は省略する。
 ハーフカット溝71とハーフカット溝77は互いに垂直に延在している。図6に示す符号Sはスリットであり、この部分においては基板10が切断されている。これにより、端子領域10Bを異なる方向に多段階に折り曲げることが可能となる。
 図7は、第3の変形例による太陽電池103の外観を示す略平面図である。
 図7に示すように、第3の変形例による太陽電池103は、端子領域10Bの表面11に別のハーフカット溝78がさらに設けられている点において、図6に示した太陽電池102と相違している。その他の基本的な構成は、図6に示した太陽電池102と同一であることから、同一の要素には同一に符号を付し、重複する説明は省略する。
 ハーフカット溝77とハーフカット溝78は互いに平行に延在している。これにより、端子領域10Bをハーフカット溝71,77,78に沿って多段階に折り曲げることが可能となる。
 図8は、第4の変形例による太陽電池104の外観を示す略平面図である。
 図8に示すように、第4の変形例による太陽電池104は、端子領域10Bが主領域10Aに囲まれており、端子領域10Bと主領域10Aの境界に沿ってハーフカット溝79が設けられている点において、図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と相違している。その他の基本的な構成は、図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と同一であることから、同一の要素には同一に符号を付し、重複する説明は省略する。
 図8に示す符号Sはスリットであり、この部分においては基板10が切断されている。つまり、主領域10Aに囲まれた端子領域10Bは、その3辺がスリットSによって主領域10Aから分断され、1辺がハーフカット溝79を介して主領域10Aに接続されている。これにより、端子領域10Bをハーフカット溝79に沿って折り曲げることが可能となる。
 図9は、第5の変形例による太陽電池105の外観を示す略平面図である。
 図9に示すように、第5の変形例による太陽電池105は、端子領域10B,10Cのエッジの延長線上に位置する主領域10Aの一部に、スリットSが設けられている点において図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と相違している。その他の基本的な構成は、図1(a),(b)に示した太陽電池100と同一であることから、同一の要素には同一に符号を付し、重複する説明は省略する。
 スリットSは、主領域10Aと端子領域10B,10Cの境界に位置するハーフカット溝71,72の端部から、主領域10A側に向かって形成されている。これにより、ハーフカット溝71,72に沿って基板10を折り曲げると、スリットSが形成されている分、基板10の折り曲げ部分が内側に移動することから、折り曲げ部分の平面視における突出が抑制される。
 スリットSの長さは、基板10の厚み以上であることが好ましい。これは、スリットSの長さが基板10の厚みよりも短いと、ほぼ直角に折り曲げた場合であっても、折り曲げ部分が平面視で主領域10Aから突出するからである。また、スリットSの長さは、基板10の厚みの1.1倍~1.5倍であることがより好ましい。これは、スリットSの長さを基板10の厚みの1.1倍以上とすることにより、折り曲げ部分がほとんど突出しなくなるからであり、スリットSの長さを基板10の厚みの1.5倍以下とすることにより、光電変換層の面積減少を最小限に抑えることが可能となるからである。
 以上、本開示に係る技術の実施形態について説明したが、本開示に係る技術は、上記の実施形態に限定されることなく、その主旨を逸脱しない範囲で種々の変更が可能であり、それらも本開示に係る技術の範囲内に包含されるものであることはいうまでもない。
 本開示に係る技術には、以下の構成例が含まれるが、これに限定されるものではない。
 本開示の一側面による太陽電池は、主領域及び端子領域を含み、第1の表面及び第1の表面の反対側に位置する第2の表面を有するフィルム状の基板と、基板の主領域の第1の表面上に設けられた光電変換層と、基板の端子領域の第2の表面上に設けられた第1の電極層と、基板を貫通して設けられ、光電変換層と第1の電極層を接続する第1のビア導体と、を備え、基板の第1の表面には、第1の電極層と重なる位置に第1のハーフカット溝が設けられている。これによれば、第1のハーフカット溝に沿って基板を折り曲げることにより、折り曲げ部分の曲率半径を縮小することが可能となる。
 上記の太陽電池において、第1のハーフカット溝は、主領域と端子領域の境界に沿って設けられていても構わない。これによれば、第1のハーフカット溝に沿って基板を折り曲げることにより、基板の平面サイズを小型化することが可能となる。
 上記の太陽電池は、基板の端子領域の第1の表面上に設けられた第2の電極層と、基板を貫通して設けられ、第1の電極層と第2の電極層を接続する第2のビア導体と、をさらに備えていても構わない。これによれば、基板の両面側から接続が可能となる。
 上記の太陽電池において、第1のハーフカット溝は、光電変換層と第2の電極層の間に設けられていても構わない。これによれば、第2の電極層が第1のハーフカット溝によって分断されることがない。
 上記の太陽電池において、基板の端子領域の第1の表面には、第2のハーフカット溝がさらに設けられていても構わない。これによれば、基板を多段階に折り曲げることが可能となる。この場合、第1のハーフカット溝と第2のハーフカット溝は、互いに平行に延在しても構わないし、互いに異なる方向に延在しても構わない。前者によれば、端子領域をより大きく折り曲げることができるだけでなく、第1及び第2のハーフカット溝の折り曲げ角度を緩和することも可能となる。後者によれば、端子領域を異なる方向に多段階に折り曲げることが可能となる。
 上記の太陽電池において、端子領域は、主領域に囲まれていても構わない。これによれば、電極層を光電変換層の直下に配置することが可能となる。
 上記の太陽電池において、基板は、主領域と端子領域の境界から、主領域側に向かって端子領域のエッジの延長線上に形成されたスリットを有していても構わない。これによれば、ハーフカット溝に沿って基板を折り曲げた場合に、折り曲げ部分の平面視における突出を抑制することが可能となる。

Claims (9)

  1.  主領域及び端子領域を含み、第1の表面及び前記第1の表面の反対側に位置する第2の表面を有するフィルム状の基板と、
     前記基板の前記主領域の前記第1の表面上に設けられた光電変換層と、
     前記基板の前記端子領域の前記第2の表面上に設けられた第1の電極層と、
     前記基板を貫通して設けられ、前記光電変換層と前記第1の電極層を接続する第1のビア導体と、
    を備え、
     前記基板の前記第1の表面には、前記第1の電極層と重なる位置に第1のハーフカット溝が設けられている、
    太陽電池。
  2.  前記第1のハーフカット溝は、前記主領域と前記端子領域の境界に沿って設けられている、
    請求項1に記載の太陽電池。
  3.  前記基板の前記端子領域の前記第1の表面上に設けられた第2の電極層と、
     前記基板を貫通して設けられ、前記第1の電極層と前記第2の電極層を接続する第2のビア導体と、
    をさらに備える、
    請求項1に記載の太陽電池。
  4.  前記第1のハーフカット溝は、前記光電変換層と前記第2の電極層の間に設けられている、
    請求項3に記載の太陽電池。
  5.  前記基板の前記端子領域の前記第1の表面には、第2のハーフカット溝がさらに設けられている、
    請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の太陽電池。
  6.  前記第1のハーフカット溝と前記第2のハーフカット溝は、互いに平行に延在する、
    請求項5に記載の太陽電池。
  7.  前記第1のハーフカット溝と前記第2のハーフカット溝は、互いに異なる方向に延在する、
    請求項5に記載の太陽電池。
  8.  前記端子領域は、前記主領域に囲まれている、
    請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の太陽電池。
  9.  前記基板は、前記主領域と前記端子領域の境界から、前記主領域側に向かって前記端子領域のエッジの延長線上に形成されたスリットを有する、
    請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の太陽電池。
