Description

디스플레이 장치 및 그 제조 방법
본 개시는 디스플레이 장치 관련 기술 분야에 적용 가능하며, 예를 들어 LED(Light Emitting Diode)를 이용한 디스플레이 장치 및 그 제조 방법에 관한 것이다.
정보화 사회가 발전함에 따라 디스플레이 디바이스에 대한 요구도 다양한 형태로 증가하고 있으며, 이에 부응하여 근래에는 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display Device), PDP(Plasma Display Panel), ELD(Electro luminescent Display), VFD(Vacuum Fluorescent Display), OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode), 마이크로 LED(Micro Light Emitting Diode) 등 다양한 디스플레이 디바이스가 연구되어 사용되고 있다.
디지털 사이니지(Digital Signage)란, 일반적인 TV 뿐만 아니라, 기업들의 마케팅, 광고, 트레이닝 효과, 및 고객 경험을 유도할 수 있는 커뮤티케이션 툴(Communication tool)로 공항, 호텔, 병원, 지하철역 등의 공공 장소에서 방송 프로그램뿐만 아니라 특정 정보를 제공하는 디스플레이 디바이스이다.
디지털 사이니지는 옥내 또는 옥외의 일정한 장소 또는 가로 시설물(street furniture)등의 장치에 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display), PDP(Plasma Display Panel), OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode), 마이크로 LED(Light Emitting Diode) 등의 디스플레이 패널을 설치하여 다양한 콘텐츠와 상업 광고 등을 표출하는 매체로서 가정뿐만 아니라 아파트 엘리베이터, 지하철 역 내, 지하철 내, 버스 내, 대학교, 은행, 편의점, 할인점, 쇼핑몰 등 대중이 움직이는 동선에 설치될 수 있다.
최근, 디지털 사이니지가 대형화 초대형화되면서 디스플레이 패널의 화질을 개선시키기 위한 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다.
특히, 디스플레이 패널의 광학적 특성 향상을 위한 광학층이 구비될 수 있으나, 이러한 광학층에 포함되어 반사율을 감소시키기 위한 산란재에 의하여 스파클링 등의 왜곡현상이 발생할 수 있다.
따라서, 이와 같은 문제점들을 해결할 방안이 대두된다.
본 개시의 일 실시예에 의하면, 디스플레이 장치의 산란층을 구비하면서 화질저하 현상을 방지하거나 감소시킬 수 있는 디스플레이 장치 및 그 제조 방법을 제공하고자 한다.
한편, 본 개시의 일 실시예에 의하면, 디스플레이 장치의 산란층을 구비하면서 블랙감 저하를 방지하거나 감소시킬 수 있는 디스플레이 장치 및 그 제조 방법을 제공하고자 한다.
본 개시의 일 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치는, 기판; 상기 기판 상에 구획되어 다수의 단위 픽셀을 구성하는 다수의 발광 소자; 상기 개별 발광 소자 사이에 위치하는 블랙층; 상기 다수의 발광 소자를 덮도록 상기 기판 상에 형성되는 봉지층; 상기 봉지층 상에 위치하고 제1 필러입자를 포함하는 제1 산란층; 상기 제1 산란층 상에 위치하는 투명층; 및 상기 투명층 상에 위치하고 상기 제1 필러입자보다 크기가 큰 제2 필러입자를 포함하는 제2 산란층을 포함할 수 있다.
본 개시의 일 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치는, 기판 상에 구획되어 다수의 단위 픽셀을 구성하는 다수의 발광 소자, 상기 개별 발광 소자 사이에 위치하는 블랙층, 및 상기 다수의 발광 소자를 덮도록 상기 기판 상에 형성되는 봉지층을 포함하는 배선 기판; 상기 배선 기판 상에 위치하고 상기 단위 픽셀에 대응하는 위치에 위치하고 제1 필러입자를 포함하는 산란층; 상기 산란층 상에 위치하는 투명 접착층; 및 상기 투명 접착층 상에 위치하고 상기 제1 필러입자보다 크기가 큰 제2 필러입자를 포함하는 AG 코팅층을 포함할 수 있다.
본 개시의 일 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치의 제조 방법은, 기판, 상기 기판 상에 구획되어 다수의 단위 픽셀을 구성하는 다수의 발광 소자, 상기 개별 발광 소자 사이에 위치하는 블랙층, 및 상기 다수의 발광 소자를 덮도록 상기 기판 상에 형성되는 봉지층을 포함하는 배선 기판을 제공하는 단계; 상기 봉지층 상에 제1 필러입자가 분산된 제1 모재를 포함하는 제1 산란층을 형성하는 단계; 투명 기재의 제1 면 상에 위치하는 상기 제1 필러입자보다 크기가 큰 제2 필러입자가 분산된 제2 모재를 포함하는 제2 산란층, 및 상기 투명 기재의 제2 면 상에 위치하는 투명 접착층이 위치하는 광학층을 제공하는 단계; 및 상기 제1 산란층 상에 상기 광학층의 투명 접착층을 부착하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 예시적인 실시예에 의하면 다음과 같은 효과가 있다.
먼저, 본 개시의 실시예에 의하면, 디스플레이의 상비침(반사 현상)을 방지함과 동시에 스파클링과 같은 화질 불균일 현상을 감소시킬 수 있다.
한편, 픽셀과 가까운 곳에 위치하는 제1 산란층의 작용에 의하여 발광 소자의 시야각에 따른 광분포 불균일 현상을 개선할 수 있다.
한편, 본 개시의 일 실시예에 의하면, 디스플레이 장치의 산란층을 구비하면서 블랙감 저하를 방지하거나 감소시킬 수 있다.

도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, 디스플레이 장치(10)는 단위 픽셀(210)들을 포함하는 배선 기판(200) 상에 광학층(100)이 구비될 수 있다.
배선 기판(200)은 기판(230) 상에 배열되는 단위 픽셀(210)들에 의하여 영상을 구현할 수 있다. 이러한 단위 픽셀(210)을 이루는 서브픽셀(211, 212, 213)들 상에는 봉지층(240)이 형성될 수 있다. 도 1에는 세 개의 서브픽셀(211, 212, 213)을 포함하는 하나의 단위 픽셀(210)이 도시되어 있으나, 배선 기판(200)에는 많은 수의 단위 픽셀(210)들을 포함할 수 있다.
단위 픽셀(210)을 이루는 서브픽셀(211, 212, 213)들은 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에 의하여 이루어질 수 있다. 일례로, 단위 픽셀(210)은 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213)를 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 단위 픽셀(210)은 적색 발광 소자(211), 녹색 발광 소자(212) 및 청색 발광 소자(213)를 포함할 수 있다.
단위 픽셀(210)를 이루는 적색 발광 소자(211), 녹색 발광 소자(212) 및 청색 발광 소자(213)는 기판(230) 상에 배열되는 전극 패드(도시되지 않음) 상에 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 여기서 전극 패드 및 이 전극 패드들을 연결하는 배선 전극의 도시는 생략되어 있다.
이러한 배선 기판(200) 상에는 광학층(광학 필름; 100)이 위치할 수 있다. 광학층(100)은 광학 필름 적층체로 구성될 수 있다. 이하, 광학층과 광학 필름의 용어는 혼용하여 설명한다. 광학 필름(100)은 배선 기판(200) 상에 부착될 수 있다. 이러한 광학 필름(100)이 부착된 배선 기판(200)을 디스플레이 장치(10)라고 일컬을 수 있다.
별도로 도시되지 않았으나, 다수의 디스플레이 장치(10)가 결합되어 더 넓은 면적의 디스플레이 면적을 구현하는 모듈형 디스플레이 장치가 구현될 수 있다. 일례로, 디스플레이 장치(10)는 모듈형 디스플레이 장치를 이루는 하나의 디스플레이 모듈일 수 있다. 이와 같이, 다수의 디스플레이 장치(10)가 평행하게 결합되어 모듈형 디스플레이 장치를 이룰 수 있다. 이에 대한 자세한 설명은 생략한다.
개별 서브픽셀을 이루는 발광 소자(211, 212, 213) 사이에는 블랙층(250)이 위치할 수 있다. 이러한 블랙층(250)은 디스플레이 장치(10)의 블랙감을 향상시킬 수 있다. 일례로, 블랙층(250)은 디스플레이 장치(10)가 구동되지 않을 때 디스플레이 장치(10)가 블랙 색상을 띠도록 할 수 있다. 다른 예로, 블랙층(250)은 디스플레이의 대비비(contrast)를 향상시킬 수 있다. 이러한 블랙층(250)은 발광 소자(211, 212, 213) 사이에서 일정 면적을 차지하도록 패턴을 가질 수 있다.
기판(230) 상에는 다수의 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)를 덮도록 봉지층(240)이 위치할 수 있다. 이러한 봉지층(240)은 다수의 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)와 블랙층(250)이 형성된 기판(230)의 상면 상에 위치하여 기판(230)의 상면을 평탄화시킬 수 있다.
이와 같이, 봉지층(240)은 전극 패드(도시되지 않음)가 구비된 기판(230)의 상면 상에 배치될 수 있다. 봉지층(240)은 폴리이미드(PI, Polyimide), PET, PEN 등과 같이 절연성이 있고, 유연성 있는 재질로, 기판(230)과 일체로 이루어져 하나의 기판을 형성할 수 있다. 이와 같이, 전극 패드가 구비된 기판(230)은 전극 패드에 배선 전극(미도시)이 연결된 배선 기판(100)을 이룰 수 있다.
위에서 설명한 바와 같이, 이와 같은 배선 기판(200)의 단위 픽셀은 발광 소자에 의하여 구현될 수 있다. 본 발명의 실시예에서는 전류를 빛으로 변환시키는 반도체 발광 소자의 일 종류로서 발광 다이오드(Light Emitting Diode: LED)를 예시한다.
기판(230)은 유리나 폴리이미드(PI, Polyimide)를 포함할 수 있다. 플렉서블 디스플레이를 구현하기 위해서 기판(230)은 이외에도 절연성이 있고, 유연성 있는 재질이면, 예를 들어 PEN(Polyethylene Naphthalate), PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate) 등 어느 것이라도 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 기판(230)은 투명한 재질 또는 불투명한 재질 어느 것이나 될 수 있다.
단위 픽셀을 이루는 반도체 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)는 수 내지 수백 마이크로 크기를 가지는 마이크로 LED일 수 있다. 경우에 따라서, 반도체 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)는 마이크로 LED의 수십 배의 크기를 가지는 미니 LED일 수 있다. 여기서, 미니 LED는 마이크로 LED와 크기 외 적층 구조가 상이할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 미니 LED는 반도체 층을 성장하기 위한 성장 기판을 더 포함할 수 있다.
단위 픽셀을 이루는 반도체 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 일례로서 마이크로 LED 또는 미니 LED는 적색(R), 녹색(G), 및 청색(B) LED가 독립적으로 발광하는 형태뿐 아니라 하나의 LED에 적색(R), 녹색(G), 및 청색(B) 층으로 구성된 적층형 LED 형태를 가질 수 있다.
봉지층(240) 상에는 필러입자(262)를 포함하는 산란층(260)이 위치할 수 있다. 이러한 산란층(이하, 제1 산란층; 260)은 모재(261; 이하, 제1 모재) 내에 필러입자(262; 이하, 제1 필러입자)가 분산되어 구비될 수 있다.
제1 필러입자(262)는 디스플레이 장치(10)에서 광학적 특성을 가지는 기능을 가질 수 있다. 여기서 광학적 특성은 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 방출되는 빛을 굴절 또는 산란시키는 특성일 수 있다.
발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 방출되는 빛은 제1 필러입자(262)를 포함하는 제1 산란층(260)에서 굴절 또는 산란될 수 있다. 제1 필러입자(262)에서 산란되는 빛은 상측의 광학층(100)을 향하여 방출될 수 있다.
제1 산란층(260) 상에는 광학층(100)이 위치할 수 있다. 이러한 광학층(100)은 투명층(130, 110) 상에 제2 산란층(120)을 포함할 수 있다.
제2 산란층(120)은 제1 필러입자(262)보다 크기가 큰 필러입자(122; 이하, 제2 필러입자)를 포함할 수 있다. 제2 산란층(120)은 모재(121) 내에 제2 필러입자(122)를 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 제2 산란층(120)은 모재(121) 내에 제2 필러입자(122)들이 분산되어 구비될 수 있다. 모재(121)는 투명 수지 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 이와 같이, 모재(121)를 이루는 투명 수지 물질에 제2 필러입자(122)들이 분산되어 투명 기재(110) 상에 위치할 수 있다.
여기서, 투명 기재(110)는 투명하면서 PET, PEN 등과 같이 절연성이 있이 있는 재질을 포함할 수 있다.
투명 기재(110)는 투명 접착층(optically clear adhesive; OCA; 130)에 의하여 제1 산란층(260) 상에 위치할 수 있다. 일례로, 투명 접착층(130)은 투명 기재(110)와 제1 산란층(260) 사이에 위치하여 서로 접착시킬 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예로서, 제2 필러입자(122)는 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기보다 대략 10배의 크기를 가질 수 있다. 여기서, 크기라 함은 필러입자(122, 262)가 구형을 가진 경우, 필러입자(122, 262)의 직경을 의미할 수 있다. 한편, 일례로, 필러입자(122, 262)가 무정형을 가진 경우, 장변의 길이를 의미할 수 있다. 또한, 여기서 크기는 필러입자(122, 262)의 평균 크기를 의미할 수 있다.
일례로, 제2 산란층(120)은 광학층(100)의 외측에 위치하여 AG(anti glare) 층으로 기능할 수 있다. 말하자면 제2 산란층(120)은 외광에 대하여 산란하는 기능을 수행한다고 말할 수 있다. 이러한 제2 산란층(120)은 광학층(100) 표면에 거친 면(123)을 형성하여 외광이 일정하게 반사되는 것을 방지할 수 있다.
한편, 제2 산란층(120)의 거친 면(123)은 광학층(100)에서 내부 전반사가 발생하는 비율을 크게 낮출 수 있다. 제2 산란층(120)에 포함된 제2 필러입자(122)는 광학층(100) 표면에 거친 면(123)을 제공할 수 있다. 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 방출되는 빛의 적어도 일부는 제2 필러입자(122)에 의하여 산란될 수 있다.
일례로, 이러한 제2 필러입자(122)의 크기는 3 내지 6 ㎛일 수 있다. 제2 필러입자(122)는 Zr, Si, Ti, Zn, BaS, 및 그 산화물 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 제2 필러입자(122)는 Zr, Si, Ti, Zn, BaS, 및 그 산화물 중 적어도 하나의 물질로 제작될 수 있다. 일례로, 제2 필러입자(122)는 ZrO2 또는 TiO2로 형성될 수 있다(고굴절 물질). 다른 예로, 제2 필러입자(122)는 Hallow SiO2로 형성될 수 있다(저굴절 물질).
제1 산란층(260)은 모재(261) 내에 제1 필러입자(262)를 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 산란층(260)은 모재(261) 내에 제1 필러입자(262)들이 분산되어 구비될 수 있다. 모재(261)는 투명 수지 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 이와 같이, 모재(261)를 이루는 투명 수지 물질에 제1 필러입자(262)들이 분산되어 봉지층(240) 상에 코팅되어 형성될 수 있다.
일례로, 이러한 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기는 1 ㎛ 이하일 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기는 300 내지 800 nm일 수 있다.
제1 필러입자(262)는 Zr, Si, Ti, Zn, BaS, 및 그 산화물 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 필러입자(262)는 Zr, Si, Ti, Zn, BaS, 및 그 산화물 중 적어도 하나의 물질로 제작될 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 필러입자(262)는 고굴절 물질로 형성되는 경우, ZrO2 또는 TiO2로 형성될 수 있다. 다른 예로, 제1 필러입자(262)는 저굴절 물질로 형성되는 경우 Hallow SiO2로 형성될 수 있다.
일례로, 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량은 제1 산란층(260) 대비 0 초과 50 질량%를 가질 수 있다. 구체적인 예로, 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량은 제1 산란층(260) 대비 0 초과 30 질량%를 가질 수 있다. 제1 필러입자(262)가 존재하면 산란층으로 효과를 발휘할 수 있으나, 그 함량은 조절될 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량이 이보다 크면 광효율이 저하될 수 있다. 한편, 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량이 이보다 크면 제1 산란층(260)의 형성이 용이하지 않을 수 있다.
위에서 언급한 바와 같이, 제2 필러입자(122)는 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기보다 대략 10배의 크기를 가질 수 있다. 보다 구체적인 예로, 제2 필러입자(122)는 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기보다 3.5 ~ 20배의 크기를 가질 수 있다. 다른 예로, 제1 필러입자(262)와 제2 필러입자(122)의 크기 비율은 0.05 내지 0.15일 수 있다. 위에서 설명한 바와 같이, 제2 필러입자(122)는 AG 층의 거칠기를 구현할 수 있다. 한편, 제1 필러입자(262)는 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 방출된 빛이 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)보다 큰 면적으로 고르게 산란될 수 있도록 작용할 수 있다.
도 2를 참조하면, 제1 산란층(260)은 단위 픽셀(210)을 대응되는 면적을 가질 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 산란층(260)은 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213)에 대응되는 면적(제1 면적; a1) 또는 폭을 가질 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 제1 산란층(260)은 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213) 전체를 덮는 면적(a1)을 가질 수 있다. 이러한 제1 산란층(260)은 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213)에서 방출되는 빛이 고르게 산란되어 제1 면적(a1)의 크기 정도로 퍼져서 상측으로 출사될 수 있다.
디스플레이 장치(10)의 픽셀 배치는 점차 고정세로 되는 경향이 있고, 사이니지와 같은 디스플레이와 같은 경우에도 한변의 길이가 수 내지 수십 마이크로미터(㎛)인 마이크로 LED가 픽셀로 사용되고 있다. 일례로, 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 크기는 단변의 길이가 20 ㎛일 수 있다.
이때, AG 필름으로 기능할 수 있는 제2 산란층(120)만 구비되는 경우, 이러한 제2 산란층(120)에 포함된 제2 필러입자(122)의 크기는 3 내지 6 ㎛ 정도로서 이러한 제2 필러입자(122)의 크기는 광원으로 사용되는 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 크기를 고려하면 상대적으로 클 수 있다. 이에 따라 발광 면적당 제2 필러입자(122)의 개수 및 분포 형태에 편차가 크게 발생하여 화질 불균일 현상이 발생할 수 있다. 일례로, 디스플레이 화면에서 스파클링 현상이 발생할 수 있다.
그러나 본 개시의 실시예에 의하면, 픽셀(210)과 가까운 곳에서는 상대적으로 작은 크기의 필러입자(제1 필러입자; 262)를 가지는 산란층(제1 산란층; 260)을 위치시키고, 광학층(100)의 상부에 제2 필러입자(122)를 포함하는 제2 산란층(120)을 구비하여 디스플레이의 상비침(반사 현상)을 방지함과 동시에 스파클링과 같은 화질 불균일 현상을 감소시킬 수 있다.
한편, 픽셀(210)과 가까운 곳에 위치하는 제1 산란층(260)의 작용에 의하여 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 시야각에 따른 광분포 불균일 현상을 개선할 수 있다.
이와 같은 본 개시의 실시예에 의한 효과는 자세히 후술한다.
도 3은 본 개시의 제2 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치를 나타내는 단면 개략도이다. 도 4는 본 개시의 제2 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치를 나타내는 평면 개략도이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 디스플레이 장치(10)는 단위 픽셀(210)들을 포함하는 배선 기판(200) 상에 광학층(100)이 구비될 수 있다.
배선 기판(200)은 기판(230) 상에 배열되는 단위 픽셀(210)들에 의하여 영상을 구현할 수 있다. 이러한 단위 픽셀(210)을 이루는 서브픽셀(211, 212, 213)들 상에는 봉지층(240)이 형성될 수 있다.
단위 픽셀(210)을 이루는 서브픽셀(211, 212, 213)들은 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에 의하여 이루어질 수 있다. 일례로, 단위 픽셀(210)은 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213)를 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 단위 픽셀(210)은 적색 발광 소자(211), 녹색 발광 소자(212) 및 청색 발광 소자(213)를 포함할 수 있다. 도 3에는 세 개의 서브픽셀(211, 212, 213)을 포함하는 하나의 단위 픽셀(210)이 도시되어 있으나, 배선 기판(200)에는 많은 수의 단위 픽셀(210)들을 포함할 수 있다.

봉지층(240) 상에는 필러입자(262)를 포함하는 산란층(263)이 위치할 수 있다. 이러한 산란층(이하, 제1 산란층; 263)은 모재(261; 이하, 제1 모재) 내에 필러입자(262; 이하, 제1 필러입자)가 분산되어 구비될 수 있다.
제1 필러입자(262)는 디스플레이 장치(10)에서 광학적 특성을 가지는 기능을 가질 수 있다. 여기서 광학적 특성은 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 방출되는 빛을 굴절 또는 산란시키는 특성일 수 있다.
여기서, 본 실시예에 의한 제1 산란층(263)은 개별 발광 소자에 대응하는 면적(a2; 이하, 제2 면적) 또는 폭을 가질 수 있다.

위에서 언급한 바와 같이, 제2 필러입자(122)는 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기보다 대략 10배의 크기를 가질 수 있다. 보다 구체적인 예로, 제2 필러입자(122)는 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기보다 3.5 ~ 20배의 크기를 가질 수 있다. 다른 예로, 제1 필러입자(262)와 제2 필러입자(122)의 크기 비율은 0.05 내지 0.15일 수 있다. 위에서 설명한 바와 같이, 제2 필러입자(122)는 AG 층의 거칠기를 구현할 수 있다. 한편, 제1 필러입자(262)는 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 방출된 빛이 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)보다 큰 면적으로 고르게 산란될 수 있도록 작용할 수 있다.
위에서 언급한 바와 같이, 도 4를 참조하면, 제1 산란층(263)은 개별 발광 소자에 대응하는 면적(a2; 이하, 제2 면적) 또는 폭을 가질 수 있다. 즉, 제1 산란층(263)은 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213)를 각각 덮는 면적(a2)을 가질 수 있다.
이러한 제1 산란층(260)은 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213)에서 방출되는 빛이 각각 고르게 산란되어 제2 면적(a2)의 크기 정도로 퍼져서 상측으로 출사될 수 있다.
이와 같이, 제1 발광 소자(211), 제2 발광 소자(212), 및 제3 발광 소자(213)에 대응되는 패턴을 가지는 제1 산란층(263)은 서로 일정 간격(제1 간격; a3)을 두고 위치할 수 있다.
실질적으로 제1 산란층(263)의 면적(a2) 또는 폭은 해당 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 양측에 위치하는 이웃하는 두 블랙층((250) 사이의 면적 또는 폭에 대응될 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 산란층(263)의 면적(a2) 또는 폭은 해당 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 양측에 위치하는 이웃하는 두 블랙층(250) 사이와 일치하거나 더 클 수 있다.
이러한 제1 산란층(263) 사이의 간격(a3)에 의하여 이웃하는 두 발광 소자 사이에 위치하는 블랙층(250)이 개구될 수 있다. 디스플레이 관점에서, 이와 같이, 제1 산란층(263)은 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 방출되는 빛을 산란시키면서 블랙층(250)은 개구시키므로 제1 산란층(263)에 의하여 디스플레이의 블랙감 또는 대비비가 저하되는 것을 방지할 수 있다.
본 개시의 실시예에 의하면, 픽셀(210)과 가까운 곳에서는 상대적으로 작은 크기의 필러입자(제1 필러입자; 262)를 가지는 산란층(제1 산란층; 263)을 개별 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 위치에 대응되도록 패턴화하여 위치시키고, 광학층(100)의 상부에 제2 필러입자(122)를 포함하는 제2 산란층(120)을 구비하여 디스플레이의 상비침(반사 현상)을 방지함과 동시에 스파클링과 같은화질 불균일 현상을 감소시킬 수 있다. 이와 함께, 산란층(263)에 의하여 디스플레이의 블랙감 또는 대비비가 저하되는 것을 최소화할 수 있다.
한편, 픽셀(210)과 가까운 곳에 위치하는 제1 산란층(263)의 작용에 의하여 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)의 시야각에 따른 광분포 불균일 현상을 개선할 수 있다.
이와 같은 본 개시의 실시예에 의한 효과는 자세히 후술한다.
도 5는 제1 비교예에 의한 디스플레이 장치를 나타내는 단면 개략도이다. 도 6은 본 개시의 제1 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치를 나타내는 평면 개략도이다. 도 7은 제2 비교예에 의한 디스플레이 장치를 나타내는 단면 개략도이다.
위에서 설명한 바와 같이, 디스플레이 장치(1)의 픽셀 배치는 점차 고정세로 되는 경향이 있고, 사이니지와 같은 디스플레이와 같은 경우에도 한변의 길이가 수 내지 수십 마이크로미터(㎛)인 마이크로 LED가 픽셀로 사용되고 있다.
도 5는 제1 비교예로서, 배선 기판(30)에서 기판(31) 상에 발광 소자(32) 및 블랙층(34)이 배치된 상태에서 봉지층(33)을 포함하는 경우, 그리고 이러한 배선 기판(30) 상에 AG 필름(21)이 구비되는 광학층(20)이 위치하는 경우를 나타내고 있다. 이러한 AG 필름(21)은 투명 기재(24) 상에 위치하여 투명 접착층(25)에 의하여 배선 기판(30)에 부착될 수 있다.
이때, 도 5에서 도시하는 제1 비교예에서와 같이, AG 필름(21; 또는 산란층)만 구비되는 경우, 이러한 산란층(21)에 포함된 필러입자(22)의 크기는 3 내지 6 ㎛ 정도로서 이러한 필러입자(22)의 크기는 광원으로 사용되는 발광 소자(32)의 크기를 고려하면 상대적으로 클 수 있다(도 6 참고). 이에 따라 발광 면적당 필러입자(22)의 개수 및 분포 형태에 편차가 크게 발생하여 화질 불균일 현상이 발생할 수 있다. 일례로, 디스플레이 화면에서 스파클링 현상이 발생할 수 있다.
이러한 스파클링 현상은 상대적으로 큰 크기의 필러입자(22)에 의하여 디스플레이 화면이 매끄럽지 않게 보이는 현상을 의미한다.
한편, 도 7에서 도시하는 제2 비교예와 같이, 필러입자(22)를 포함하지 않는 필름(26)을 구비하는 경우, 디스플레이 화면은 매끄럽게 형성될 수 있으나, 디스플레이 표면에서 외광이 반사되는 상비침 현상이 발생할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 디스플레이 표면에서 거울과 같은 반사가 발생하여 디스플레이 시인성이 저하될 수 있다.
도 8 및 도 9는 필러입자 크기에 따른 디스플레이 균일성을 나타내는 도식도이다.
도 8은 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에 의하여 이루어지는 디스플레이 발광면에서 50㎛의 크기 10°각도의 원뿔형 입자 구조를 가지는 경우의 발광 맵(luminance map)을 나타내고 있다. 또한, 도 9는 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에 의하여 이루어지는 디스플레이 발광면에서 10㎛의 크기 10°각도의 원뿔형 입자 구조를 가지는 경우의 발광 맵(luminance map)을 나타내고 있다.
일례로, 도 8의 발광 맵은 제1 비교예에 대응될 수 있고, 도 9의 발광 맵은 본 개시의 제1 실시예 또는 제2 실시예에 대응될 수 있다.
도 8에서, 각 발광 소자(32) 상의 음영은 필러입자(22)에 의하여 각 발광 소자(22)에서 발광되는 빛이 산란된 패턴을 나타내고 있다.
한편, 도 9에서, 각 발광 소자(211, 212, 213) 상의 음영은 필러입자(262)에 의하여 각 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에서 발광되는 빛이 산란된 패턴을 나타내고 있다.
도 9에서는 각 발광 소자(211, 212, 213) 상에서 음영의 패턴이 실질적으로 고르게 발생됨을 알 수 있다. 그러나, 도 8에서는 각 발광 소자(32) 상에서 이러한 음영의 패턴이 서로 차이가 발생하는 것을 알 수 있다.
이와 같이, 디스플레이에서 산란재로 이용되는 필러입자(262)의 크기는 상대적으로 작은 크기를 가지는 것이 유리함을 알 수 있다.
도 10 및 도 11은 본 개시의 실시예에 의하여 화질 불균일 현상이 저감되는 효과를 나타내는 그래프이다.
도 10은 비교예(제1 비교예)와 본 개시의 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 화면의 정면 각도에서 휘도 표준편차(σ)를 나타내고 있다. 즉, 도 10은 디스플레이를 정면에서 바라보았을 때의 휘도 표준편차(σ)를 나타내고 있다.
본 개시의 실시예에서는 제1 산란층(260)에 제1 필러입자(262)로 ZrO2를 사용하고, 이러한 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량을 각각 5wt%(중량비)와 30wt%로 함유한 경우의 휘도 표준편차(σ)를 나타내고 있다.
이와 같이, 디스플레이의 정면에서 볼 때, 본 개시의 실시예에 의하면, 스파클링이 제1 비교예에 비하여 저감되었음을 알 수 있다.
도 10을 참조하면, 제1 필러입자(262)를 5wt% 사용한 경우 휘도 표준편차는 더 작을 수 있으나, 광산란 효과는 제1 필러입자(262)를 30wt% 사용한 경우에 더 우수할 수 있다.
여기서 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기는 500 nm인 경우에 의한 데이터를 나타내고 있다. 여기서, 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기는 평균 입자 크기를 의미할 수 있다. 제1 필러입자(262)의 크기는 이하의 설명에도 동일하게 적용될 수 있다.
도 11은 비교예(제1 비교예)와 본 개시의 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 화면의 측면 각도에서 휘도 표준편차(σ)를 나타내고 있다. 즉, 도 10은 디스플레이를 측면에서 바라보았을 때의 측면 각도에 따른 휘도 표준편차(σ)를 나타내고 있다.
여기서, AGLR 35%라고 표기된 데이터는 제1 비교예에 의한 결과를 나타낸다. 여기서, 산란제의 함량은 35wt%임을 나타낸다.
또한, AGLR 35%_ZrO2 5wt%라고 표기된 데이터는 본 개시의 실시예에서는 제1 산란층(260)에 제1 필러입자(262)로 ZrO2를 사용하고, 이러한 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량을 5wt%(중량비) 사용한 경우에 해당한다. 한편, AGLR 35%_ZrO2 30wt%라고 표기된 데이터는 본 개시의 실시예에서는 제1 산란층(260)에 제1 필러입자(262)로 ZrO2를 사용하고, 이러한 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량을 30wt%(중량비) 사용한 경우에 해당한다.
도 11을 참조하면, 제1 비교예의 경우, 각도에 따라 휘도편차가 크게 증가하는 것을 알 수 있다. 이때, 대략 10도의 각도에서 휘도편차가 급격이 증가하는 것을 알 수 있다.
반면, 본 개시의 실시예에 의하면, 두 경우 모두 각도에 따라 휘도편차가 크게 증가하지 않는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
도 12는 본 개시의 실시예에 의한 시야각 개선 효과를 나타내는 그래프이다.
도 12를 참조하면, 본 개시의 실시예에서 제1 산란층(260)에 제1 필러입자(262)로 ZrO2를 5wt% 사용한 경우, 그리고 제1 필러입자(262)로 ZrO2를 30wt% 사용한 경우의 시야각 개선 효과를 나타내고 있다.
위에서 도 10 및 도 11을 참조하면 휘도 표준편차의 관점에서 ZrO2를 5wt% 사용한 경우가 우수함을 알 수 있으나, 시야각 60°에서의 휘도 표준편차를 고려하면 시야각 개선 효과는 ZrO2를 30wt% 사용한 경우에 더 우수함을 알 수 있다.
도 13은 본 개시의 실시예에 의한 시야각 휘도편차를 나타내는 그래프이다. 도 14는 도 13의 정규화(normalized)된 그래프이다.
도 13을 참조하면, 백색광(white)에 대하여 시야각별 휘도 표준편차(세로축)를 고려하면, 제1 비교예(refer)에 의한 경우보다 본 개시의 실시예에 의한 경우에 시야각별 휘도 표준편차의 관점에서 우수함을 알 수 있다.
도 13의 경우를 정규화하여 나타낸 결과에 의하면, 시야각 60°에서 제1 비교예보다 ZrO2를 5wt% 사용한 경우에 휘도 표준편차가 19% 포인트 감소한 것을 확인할 수 있다. 또한, ZrO2를 5wt% 사용한 경우에 비하여 ZrO2를 30wt% 사용한 경우에 휘도 표준편차가 31.5% 포인트 더 감소한 것을 확인할 수 있다.
이상과 같이, 제1 필러입자(262)로 ZrO2를 사용한 경우 함량이 증가함에 따라 휘도 표준편차가 감소함을 알 수 있다. 이에 따라, 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량이 증가함에 따라 화질 균일성이 향상됨을 알 수 있다. 한편, 위에서 언급한 바와 같이, 이러한 제1 필러입자(262)의 함량은 50wt% 이하로 이용될 수 있다.
도 15 내지 도 19는 본 개시의 실시예들에 의한 제조 방법을 나타내는 단면 개략도이다.
이하, 도 15 내지 도 19를 참조하여, 본 개시의 실시예들에 의한 제조 방법을 단계적으로 설명한다.
이러한 본 개시의 실시예들에 의한 제조 방법은 크게, 배선 기판(200)을 제공하는 단계, 광학층(100)을 제공하는 단계, 그리고 배선 기판(200)과 광학층(100)을 합착하는 단계(도 19)를 포함할 수 있다.
먼저, 도 15 및 도 16을 참조하면, 기판(230), 기판(230) 상에 구획되어 다수의 단위 픽셀(210)을 구성하는 다수의 발광 소자(211, 212, 213), 개별 발광 소자(211, 212, 213) 사이에 위치하는 블랙층(250), 및 다수의 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)를 덮도록 기판(230) 상에 형성되는 봉지층(240)을 포함하는 배선 기판(200)을 제공하는 과정이 수행될 수 있다.
일례로, 도 15를 참조하면, 기판(230) 상에 다수의 단위 픽셀(210)을 구성하는 다수의 발광 소자(211, 212, 213) 및 개별 발광 소자(211, 212, 213) 사이에 위치하는 블랙층(250)을 형성할 수 있다.
이후, 도 16을 참조하면, 다수의 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)를 덮도록 기판(230) 상에 형성되는 봉지층(240)을 형성할 수 있다.
다음, 도 17을 참조하면, 제1 실시예에 의하면, 봉지층(240) 상에 제1 필러입자(262)가 분산된 제1 모재(261)를 포함하는 제1 산란층(260)을 형성할 수 있다.
제1 산란층(260)은 단위 픽셀(210)에 대응되는 면적(a1)을 가질 수 있다.
제1 산란층(260)은 스크린 프린팅, 슬릿코팅, 스핀코팅, 도트 프린팅, 필름 라미네이션 중 적어도 어느 하나의 공정으로 형성될 수 있다. 한편, 제2 산란층(120)도 스크린 프린팅, 슬릿코팅, 스핀코팅, 도트 프린팅, 필름 라미네이션 중 적어도 어느 하나의 공정으로 형성될 수 있다.
한편, 도 18을 참조하면, 제2 실시예에 의하면, 봉지층(240) 상에 제1 필러입자(262)가 분산된 제1 모재(261)를 포함하는 제1 산란층(263)을 형성할 수 있다.
제1 산란층(263)은 단위 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에 대응되는 면적(a2)을 가질 수 있다. 일례로, 제1 산란층(263)은 개별 발광 소자(211, 212, 213)에를 국부적으로 덮는 면적(a2)을 가질 수 있다. 즉, 제1 산란층(263)은 제1 간격(a3)을 가지고 서로 분할되어 구비될 수 있다.
도 19를 참조하면, 투명 기재(110)의 일측면 상에 제1 필러입자(262)보다 크기가 큰 제2 필러입자(122가 분산된 제2 모재(121)를 포함하는 제2 산란층(120)을 포함하고, 투명 기재(110)의 타측면 상에 투명 접착층(130)이 포함된 광학층(100)을 준비할 수 있다.
이와 같은 배선 기판(200)을 제공하는 과정과 광학층(100)을 제공하는 과정은 서로 독립적으로 수행될 수 있다.
이러한 배선 기판(200) 상에 투명 접착층(130)이 배선 기판(200)을 향하도록 광학층(100)을 합착할 수 있다. 이와 같이, 배선 기판(200)과 광학층(100)이 합착되면 도 3 및 도 4를 참조하여 설명한 제2 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치(10)가 제작될 수 있다. 한편, 광학층(100)은 도 17에서 도시한 상태의 배선 기판(200)과 합착되어 제1 실시예에 의한 디스플레이 장치(10)가 제작될 수 있다.
이상에서 실시예들에 설명된 특징, 구조, 효과 등은 본 발명의 적어도 하나의 실시예에 포함되며, 반드시 하나의 실시예에만 한정되는 것은 아니다. 나아가, 각 실시예에서 예시된 특징, 구조, 효과 등은 실시예들이 속하는 분야의 통상의 지식을 가지는 자에 의해 다른 실시예들에 대해서도 조합 또는 변형되어 실시 가능하다. 따라서 이러한 조합과 변형에 관계된 내용들은 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.
또한, 이상에서 실시예를 중심으로 설명하였으나 이는 단지 예시일 뿐 본 발명을 한정하는 것이 아니며, 본 발명이 속하는 분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 본 실시예의 본질적인 특성을 벗어나지 않는 범위에서 이상에 예시되지 않은 여러 가지의 변형과 응용이 가능함을 알 수 있을 것이다. 예를 들어, 실시예에 구체적으로 나타난 각 구성 요소는 변형하여 실시할 수 있는 것이다. 그리고 이러한 변형과 응용에 관계된 차이점들은 첨부된 청구 범위에서 규정하는 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.
본 발명에 의하면 LED(Light Emitting Diode)를 이용한 디스플레이 장치 및 그 제조 방법을 제공할 수 있다.

Claims (15)

  1. 기판;
    상기 기판 상에 구획되어 다수의 단위 픽셀을 구성하는 다수의 발광 소자;
    상기 개별 발광 소자 사이에 위치하는 블랙층;
    상기 다수의 발광 소자를 덮도록 상기 기판 상에 형성되는 봉지층;
    상기 봉지층 상에 위치하고 제1 필러입자를 포함하는 제1 산란층;
    상기 제1 산란층 상에 위치하는 투명층;
    상기 투명층 상에 위치하고 상기 제1 필러입자보다 크기가 큰 제2 필러입자를 포함하는 제2 산란층을 포함하는
    디스플레이 장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2 산란층은 투명 기재 상에 위치하는
    디스플레이 장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 투명 기재는 투명 접착층에 의하여 상기 봉지층에 접착된
    디스플레이 장치.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 필러입자와 상기 제2 필러입자의 크기 비율은 0.05 내지 0.15인
    디스플레이 장치.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 필러입자는 Zr, Si, Ti, Zn, BaS, 및 그 산화물 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는
    디스플레이 장치.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 필러입자의 함량은 상기 제1 산란층 대비 0 초과 50 질량% 이하인
    디스플레이 장치.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 필러입자의 크기는 300 내지 800 nm인
    디스플레이 장치.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 산란층은 상기 단위 픽셀을 대응되는 면적을 가지는
    디스플레이 장치.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 산란층은 상기 개별 발광 소자에 대응하는 면적을 가지는
    디스플레이 장치.
  10. 제9항에 있어서, 각 제1 산란층은 제1 간격을 가지고 위치하는
    디스플레이 장치.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 제1 간격은 상기 블랙층이 개구되는 폭을 정의하는
    디스플레이 장치.
  12. 기판, 상기 기판 상에 구획되어 다수의 단위 픽셀을 구성하는 다수의 발광 소자, 상기 개별 발광 소자 사이에 위치하는 블랙층, 및 상기 다수의 발광 소자를 덮도록 상기 기판 상에 형성되는 봉지층을 포함하는 배선 기판을 제공하는 단계;
    상기 봉지층 상에 제1 필러입자가 분산된 제1 모재를 포함하는 제1 산란층을 형성하는 단계;
    투명 기재의 제1 면 상에 위치하는 상기 제1 필러입자보다 크기가 큰 제2 필러입자가 분산된 제2 모재를 포함하는 제2 산란층, 및 상기 투명 기재의 제2 면 상에 위치하는 투명 접착층이 위치하는 광학층을 제공하는 단계; 및
    상기 제1 산란층 상에 상기 광학층의 투명 접착층을 부착하는 단계를 포함하는
    디스플레이 장치의 제조 방법.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 배선 기판을 제공하는 단계와 상기 광학층을 제공하는 단계는 독립적으로 수행되는
    디스플레이 장치의 제조 방법.
  14. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 제1 산란층을 형성하는 단계는, 상기 개별 발광 소자를 국부적으로 덮는 면적을 가지도록 수행되는
    디스플레이 장치의 제조 방법.
  15. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 제1 산란층을 형성하는 단계는, 상기 단위 픽셀에 대응되는 면적을 가지도록 수행되는
    디스플레이 장치의 제조 방법.
