Description

모듈 단위 전력 변환 장치, 이를 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법
본 발명은 모듈 단위 전력 변환 장치, 이를 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법에 관한 것이다.
최근 태양광 발전 시스템은 음영이 생기는 경우 등 특정 조건에서의 PV 모듈의 성능을 개선하고, 전력 생산 효율을 높일 수 있도록 모듈 단위 전력 변환 장치(혹은 모듈 단위 전력 조절 장치)(Module Level Power Electronics, MLPE)를 도입하고 있다.
현재는 태양광 발전 시스템의 운전 전후로 MLPE의 상태를 진단하는 기능 및 알고리즘이 널리 사용되고 있으나, PV 모듈인PV(Photovoltaic) 모듈까지 진단할 수 있는 기술은 부족한 상황이다.
따라서 태양광 발전 시스템의 발전량이 저하되었을 때 외부 요소에 의한 것인지 또는 MLPE나 PV 모듈에 의한 것인지 그 정확한 원인을 파악하기 어렵다. 정확한 원인 파악을 위해서는 구성 각각을 분석해야 하므로 비효율적일 뿐 아니라, 문제 해결(troubleshooting)에 혼돈이 발생하는 경우가 빈번하다.
이러한 상황에서 PV 모듈과 MLPE를 분리하여 진단하는 기존 방식과 달리 통합적으로 문제 원인을 분석할 수 있는 방안이 필요한 실정이다.
본 발명의 목적은 통합적으로 발전량 저하 등 상태를 진단 가능한 태양광 발전 시스템 및 방법을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 목적은 추가 구성 없이 전류-전압 곡선을 추출할 수 있는 태양광 발전 시스템 및 방법을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 복수의 모듈 단위 전력 변환 장치(Module Level Power Electronics, MLPE)를 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법에 있어서, 상기 MLPE의 제1 모드에서 최대 전력점 추적(Maximum Power Point Tracking, MPPT) 제어를 수행하는 동작; 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단과 인버터의 전력 연결을 해제하여 상기 제1 모드를 제2 모드로 전환하는 동작; 상기 제2 모드로 전환된 후 MLPE 내에 구비된 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 제어하는 동작; 상기 제2 모드에서의 상기 복수의 MLPE에 연결된 각 PV 모듈의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 추출하는 동작; 을 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법이 제공된다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 제1 모드를 제2 모드로 전환하는 동작은, 제1 시점에 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단이 개방되어 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단과 인버터의 전력 연결을 해제하는 동작일 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 DC-DC 컨버터는, 상기 출력단에 병렬로 연결되고 제1 저항과 직렬 연결되며, 상기 제1 시점 이후의 제2 시점으로부터 소정의 시간동안 온 동작하여 전류 패스를 형성함으로써, 제1 시점에 존재하는 잔여 전력을 소진할 수 있도록 동작하는 제3 스위치를 추가적으로 포함하며, 상기 제3 스위치는 상기 제1 모드에서 오프 동작할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 제2 시점 이후의 제3 시점부터 상기 MLPE의 DC-DC 컨버터의 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치를 제어하며, 상기 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치는 상기 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비가 점점 증가하도록 제어되는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 DC-DC 컨버터는, 상보적으로 온(on) 혹은 오프(off) 동작하는 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치를 포함하며, 상기 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치는 상기 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 조정할 수 있도록 온 혹은 오프될 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 제어하는 동작은, 상기 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티 사이클이 경과할 때마다 기설정된 수치로 듀티비가 증가하도록 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 제어할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 제2 모드의 제3 시점부터 상기 듀티비가 점차 증가하도록 제어됨에 따라, 상기 PV 모듈의 출력 전압은 감소하고 출력 전류는 증가할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 DC-DC 컨버터는, 상기 태양광 모듈의 출력 양단과 병렬 연결된 커패시터, 상기 커패시터와 병렬 연결된 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치를 포함하며, 상기 제1 스위치가 오프될 경우 제2 스위치가 온되어 상기 DC-DC 컨버터가 개방되고, 상기 제1 스위치가 온 될 경우 상기 제2 스위치가 오프되어 PV 모듈의 출력 양단이 단락되도록 동작할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 DC-DC 컨버터의 제3 스위치가 온되는 제3 시점에서, I-V 곡선의 기울기는, PV 모듈의 등가 회로도에서의 션트 저항의 손실에 대응할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 듀티비가 점점 증가함에 따라 개방 전압이 0이 될 때의 I-V 곡선의 기울기는, PV 모듈의 등가 회로도에서의 직렬 저항의 손실에 대응할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 태양광 발전 시스템에 있어서, 태양광 발전 시스템의 모듈 단위 전력 변환 장치(Module Level Power Electronics, MLPE)로서, DC-DC 컨버터; 및 상기 MLPE가 제1 모드에서 출력단에 연결된 인버터와 전력 연결을 해제하여 최대 전력점 추적(Maximum Power Point Tracking, MPPT) 제어를 수행하고, 제2 모드에서 전류(I)-전압(V) 곡선을 추출하도록 제어하며, 상기 제2 모드에서 상기 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 제어하면서 측정되는 PV 모듈의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 I-V 곡선을 추출하는 프로세서를 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE가 제공된다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는, 제1 시점에 상기 MLPE의 모드를 상기 제1 모드를 제2 모드로 전환하고,, 상기 제1 시점에 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단이 개방되어 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단과 인버터의 전력 연결이 해제되도록 상기 MLPE를 제어할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 DC-DC 컨버터는, 상보적으로 온 혹은 오프 동작하는 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치를 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 DC-DC 컨버터는, 상기 출력단에 병렬로 연결되고, 온 동작하여 전류 패스를 형성하는 제3 스위치 및 상기 제3 스위치와 직렬 연결되는 제1 저항을 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는, 상기 제2 모드에서 상기 제3스위치가 온 동작하도록 제어할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는, 상기 제3스위치가 온 동작하는 제2 시점으로부터 소정의 시간 이후인 제3 시점부터 상기 제1 스위치의 듀티비를 0에서 1로 단계적으로 증가하도록 제어할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는, 상기 제2 모드에서 상기 PV 모듈의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 출력 전력을 식별하고, 상기 출력 전압 및 출력 전력을 이용하여 전력(P)-전압(V) 곡선을 추출할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는, 식별한 상기 출력 전력 중 최대값을 최대 전력점(Maximum Power Point, MPP)으로 식별할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는, I-V 곡선의 특성 정보에 기초하여 추출된 상기 I-V 곡선에 대응하는 PV 모듈의 상태를 진단할 수 있다.
본 발명에 있어서, 상기 복수의 MLPE는 상호간 직렬 연결되고, 각 MLPE는 상기 복수의 PV 모듈 중 적어도 하나의 PV 모듈과 연결되는 것을 특징으로 할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 태양광 발전 시스템의 토폴로지 변화 없이 PV 모듈의 I-V 곡선 추출이 가능한 바, 추가적인 비용이 발생하지 않아 경제적이고, 태양광 발전 시스템의 상태 진단을 통해 PV 모듈의 발전량이 심각하게 열화되기 전에 예방 및 대응할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 결과적으로 발전량 저하를 사전 예방하여 시스템 효율을 높이면서, 추가 비용 없이 운용 가능하여 시스템 관점에서 균등화 발전비용(Levelized Cost of Energy, LCOE)를 낮추는 효과를 창출할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 상대적으로 발전량에 영향이 미미한 일출 및 일몰 시간 대에도 I-V 곡선 추출이 가능한 바, 발전에 영향을 미치지 않고 효율적으로 태양광 발전 시스템의 상태를 진단할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, I-V 곡선을 통해 태양광 발전 시스템의 상태 진단 뿐 아니라 MPPT 제어 등 다양한 기능 구현이 가능하다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 목적에 따라 PV 모듈의 열화 경향성 및 설치 환경에 따른 변화를 분석할 수 있어, 사이트 특성 별 제어 최적화를 위한 데이터 수집이 가능하다.

이하, 본 발명에 따른 바람직한 실시 형태를 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 상세하게 설명한다. 첨부된 도면과 함께 이하에 개시될 상세한 설명은 본 발명의 예시적인 실시형태를 설명하고자 하는 것이며, 본 발명이 실시될 수 있는 유일한 실시형태를 나타내고자 하는 것이 아니다. 도면에서 본 발명을 명확하게 설명하기 위해서 설명과 관계없는 부분은 생략할 수 있고, 명세서 전체를 통하여 동일 또는 유사한 구성 요소에 대해서는 동일한 참조 부호를 사용할 수 있다.
도 1a 및 도 1b는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 태양광 발전 시스템의 일 예를 도시한 구성도이다.
도 1a에 도시한 바와 같이, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 태양광 발전 시스템은, 복수의 PV 모듈(10), 주제어기(100)를 포함하는 인버터(400), 복수의 MLPE(Module Level Power Electronics)(200) 및 서버(300)를 포함하여 구성될 수 있다. 혹은, 도 1b에 도시한 바와 같이, 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 태양광 발전 시스템은, 복수의 PV 모듈(10), 주제어기(100), 복수의 MLPE(Module Level Power Electronics)(200), 인버터(400) 및 서버(300)를 포함하여 구성될 수 있다.
즉, 일 실시예에 따른 태양광 발전 시스템은, 도 1a 와 같이 인버터(400)에 주제어기(100)를 포함하여 구성될 수 있고, 혹은 다른 실시예에 따르면 도 1b와 같이 주제어기(100) 및 그리드(20) 사이에 인버터(400)를 포함하여 구성될 수 있다. 여기서, 인버터(400)는 복수의 PV 모듈(10)에서 발전된 직류 전력을 교류 전력으로 변환시키고 변환된 교류 전력을 그리드(20)로 전송할 수 있다. 이하에서는 설명의 편의를 위해 도 1a와 같이 주제어기(100)가 인버터(400)에 포함된 실시예를 기준으로 설명하기로 한다. 또한, 이하에서는 복수의 PV 모듈(10) 및 복수의 MLPE(200)를 통칭하지만, PV 모듈(10)들 및 MLPE(200)들은 서로 별개이며 서로 다른 종류 혹은 모델로 구성될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따르면, 복수의 PV 모듈(10) 각각은 모듈 단위의 태양광 발전 패널을 의미할 수 있다. 또한, 복수의 태양과 패널(10)은 직렬 및 병렬 중 적어도 하나로 연결될 수 있고, 복수의 MLPE(200)는 복수의 PV 모듈(10)에 각각 구비될 수 있다. 또한, 하나의 PV 모듈(10)에 하나의 MLPE(200)가 연결될 수도 있고, 복수의 PV 모듈(10)에 하나의 MLPE(200)가 연결될 수도 있다. MLPE(200)는 PV 모듈(10)의 발전량, 온도 및 고장 정보를 포함하는 발전 정보를 주제어기(100)로 송신하고, 전력 효율을 최적화하기 위한 동작 지령을 주제어기(100)로부터 수신할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, MLPE(200)는 PV 모듈(10) 각각에 연결되어, 각 연결된 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압을 최적화하는 구성으로, DC 옵티마이저(Optimizer)로 구현될 수 있다. 보다 상세히, MLPE(200)는 태양광 패널(10) 각각에 연결되어 각 연결된 태양광 패널(10)의 출력 전력(출력 전압)을 최적화하는 장치로서, MLPE(200)는 후술하는 MPPT 동작을 통해 각 연결된 PV 모듈의 출력 전압을 최적화하여 출력할 수 있다. 이를 위해, MLPE(200)는 PV 모듈(10), 인버터(400), 부하, 그리드(20) 등으로부터 수신하는 각종 데이터를 분석하여 MLPE(200)의 상태를 자체적으로 모니터링하거나, 인버터(400)에 의해 모니터링될 수 있다.
이때, MLPE(200)는 태양광 발전 시스템(1)이 최대 전력을 발생시킬 때의 해당 전력 및 전압을 추적하는 최대 전력점 추적(Maximum Power Point Tracking, MPPT) 제어를 통해 각 연결된 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압을 최적화할 수 있다. MPPT 동작은 태양광 일사량, 기온, 부하 등의 조건이 변화할 때 태양광 발전 시스템(1)이 최대 전력점 근접에서 작동하도록 PV 모듈(10) 혹은 복수의 PV 모듈(10)들로 구성된 어레이가 받는 임피던스를 계속적으로 조정하기 위해 구현된 알고리즘이다. MLPE(200)에 대한 구체적인 구성은 도 2를 참조하여 설명한다.
이때, MLPE(200)는 도 1에 도시된 바와 같이 PV 모듈(10)에 일대일 대응(n=1)하여 연결될 수 있으나, 태양광 발전 시스템(1)이 채택하는 구조에 따라 다대일, 다대다로 설치될 수 있으며, 그 설치 형태는 어느 하나에 한정되지 않는다. 다른 실시예로, n개(n은 2이상의 자연수)의 PV 모듈 및 n개의 MLPE로 이루어진 하나의 그룹이 복수개 직렬 연결된 형태로 구성될 수 있다.
MLPE(200)는 복수로 구비되어 상호 간 직렬 연결되고, 직렬 연결된 복수의 MLPE(200)의 양 끝단에는 인버터(400) 혹은 주제어기(100)가 연결된다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 인버터(400)는 PCS(Power Conversion System) 내 장착되어 PV 모듈(10)에서 생산된 전력을 부하나, 그리드(20)으로 공급하기 위해 전력 변환을 수행하는 구성이다. 상술한 바와 같이, 인버터(400)는 도 1a에 도시된 바와 같이 주제어기(100)를 포함하도록 구비될 수 있고, 혹은 도 1b와 같이 주제어기(100)와 별도로 구비될 수도 있다. 이하에서는, 설명의 편의를 위해 도 1a와 같이 인버터(400)가 주제어기(100)를 포함하는 실시예를 기준으로 설명하기로 하며, 인버터(400)의 동작은 주제어기(100)의 동작으로도 이해될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따른 인버터(400)는 PV 모듈(10), MLPE(200), 부하, 그리드(20) 등으로부터 수신하는 각종 데이터를 분석하여 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 운전 상황을 모니터링 한다. 인버터(400) 또한 MLPE(200)와 같이 MPPT 동작을 수행하며 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 전력 생산 효율을 최대화할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 추가되는 구성 없이 MLPE(200)만으로 MLPE(200) 자체의 상태를 진단할 뿐 아니라, PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류의 측정에 따른 I-V 곡선을 추출하여 PV 모듈(10)의 상태 진단이 가능할 수 있다.
또한, I-V 곡선은 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 상태에 따라 다양한 형태로 나타날 수 있으며, 많은 연구를 통해 그 곡선의 형태에 따른 특성이 정립되어 왔다. 따라서, I-V 곡선은 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 상태 진단에 필요한 중요한 인자로서, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면 MLPE(200)의 동작으로 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있으며, 추출되는 곡선과 형태에 따른 곡선 특성을 이용하여 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 상태를 진단할 수 있다.
추출된 I-V 곡선은 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 상태 진단 뿐 아니라, MPPT 제어에도 활용될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 태양광 발전 시스템(1)을 구성하는 다양한 MLPE(200)의 토폴로지 변화없이 PV 모듈(10)의 I-V 곡선 추출이 가능한 바, 추가적인 비용이 발생하지 않아 경제적이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 결과적으로 발전량 저하를 사전 예방하여 시스템 효율을 높이면서, 추가 비용 없이 운용 가능하여 시스템 관점에서 균등화 발전비용(Levelized Cost of Energy, LCOE)를 낮추는 효과를 창출할 수 있다.
이하, 도면들을 참조하여 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 동작에 대해 구체적으로 설명한다.
도 2는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 MLPE의 구성을 도시한 블럭도이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, MLPE(200)는 DC-DC 컨버터(210) 및 프로세서(220)를 포함할 수 있다.
DC-DC 컨버터(210)는 PV 모듈(10)로부터 인가되는 전압(PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압)을 강압하는 벅(buck) 컨버터로 구현될 수 있으며, DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 일 예는 도 5에 도시되어 있다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, DC-DC 컨버터(210)는 프로세서(220)에 의해 하나의 주기(duty cycle)에서 DC-DC 컨버터(210)가 on으로 동작하는 비율인 듀티비가 제어될 수 있다.
프로세서(220)는, 예를 들어, 전력 제어용 MCU(Microcontroller Unit)를 포함할 수 있다. 프로세서(220)는 프로그램 등 소프트웨어를 실행하여 MLPE(200)의 적어도 하나의 다른 구성요소(예: 하드웨어 또는 소프트웨어 구성요소)를 제어할 수 있고, 다양한 데이터 처리 또는 연산을 수행할 수 있다.
프로세서(220)는 인버터(400)와 직렬 통신을 하거나, 전력선 통신(Power Line Communication, PLC)을 수행하여 전력 최적화에 필요한 제어 신호 등을 수신할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비를 제어하여 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압, MLPE(200)의 출력 전압을 조절할 수 있다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 셧 다운 신호에 따라 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비를 제어하여 MLPE(200)의 출력 전압을 변환(조절)할 수 있다. 이때, DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비 제어는 프로세서(220)에서 직접 수행하거나, 혹은 주제어기(100) 또는 인버터(400)의 명령에 따라 수행할 수 있다.
도 3은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 MLPE의 동작 흐름도를 도시한 도면이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 MLPE(200)의 출력단에 연결된 인버터(400)와 전력 연결을 해제하여 MPPT 제어를 수행하는 제1 모드에서 전류(I)-전압(V) 곡선을 추출하는 제2 모드로 전환한다(S10).
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 제1 모드는 프로세서(220)가 일반적인 상황에서 MPPT 제어를 수행하는 모드이고, 제2 모드는 복수의 MLPE의 출력단과 인버터의 전력 연결을 해제하여 복수의 MLPE에 연결된 각 PV 모듈의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 추출하는 모드일 수 있다.
MLPE(200)는 기본적으로 MPPT 제어를 수행하고 있으며, 전력 전달을 위해 인버터(400)와 전기적으로 연결되어 있다. 한편, MLPE(200)는 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 측정하기 위해 외부로부터 들어오는 전류 흐름을 차단할 필요가 있다. 따라서, 프로세서(220)는 제1 모드에서 제2 모드로 전환하기 위해 인버터(400)와의 전력 연결을 해제한다. 프로세서(220)는 MLPE(200)의 출력단을 개방하여 인버터(400)와의 전력 연결을 해제할 수 있다.
이때, 프로세서(220)는 제1 모드에서 제2 모드로의 전환을 요청하는 신호를 수신하거나, 기 정의된 주기(예: 1일 1회 등)에 따라 혹은 기 정의된 시기(예: 저녁 7시 등)에 따라 모드 전환을 능동적으로 수행할 수 있다. 이 외에도 제1 모드에서 제2 모드로 전환하는 동작은 다양하게 트리거될 수 있으며, 어느 하나에 한정되지 않는다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 제2모드에서 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비를 조정 및 제어하면서 측정되는 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 I-V 곡선을 추출한다(S20).
앞서 서술한 바와 같이, 프로세서(220)는 MLPE(200)의 출력단을 개방하여 인버터(400)와의 전력 연결을 해제하는 바, 전류 흐름이 끊긴 상태가 된다. 그러나, PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 측정하기 위해서는 전류가 흐를 수 있어야 하는 바, 프로세서(220)는 전류 패스를 형성하기 위해 DC-DC 컨버터(210)를 제어한다. 이는 이하의 도 5에 도시된 DC-DC 컨버터를 참조하여 구체적으로 설명하기로 한다.
프로세서(220)는 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비를 0에서 1로 혹은 1에서 0으로 제어할 수 있고, 태양광 발전 시스템(1) 내부에서 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 측정하는 측정 장치로부터 MLPE(200)에 연결된 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압값 및 출력 전류값(이하, 측정값이라고도 한다.)을 수신할 수 있다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 듀티비 제어에 따른 제1 모드 및 제2 모드에서의 측정값은 이하의 도 6에 도시되어 있다.
한편, 프로세서(220)는 듀티비 제어에 따라 측정값을 실시간으로 수신하여, 실시간으로 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있다. 다만, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니고, 듀티비 제어에 따라 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 측정한 뒤 측정값을 한번에 수신하여 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있다. I-V 곡선은 PV 모듈 단위, 어레이 단위 등으로 추출할 수 있으며, 추출되는 I-V 곡선의 일 예는 이하의 도 7에 도시되어 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 I-V 곡선의 형태에 따른 특성을 포함하는 I-V 곡선의 특성 정보에 기초하여 추출된 I-V 곡선에 대응하는 PV 모듈의 상태를 진단할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 측정값을 이용하여 PV 모듈(10)의 전력을 구할 수 있는 바, 이를 이용하여 최대 전력점(Maximum Power Point, MPP)을 추종할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 상태 진단을 통해 PV 모듈(10)의 발전량이 심각하게 열화되기 전에 예방 및 대응할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 상대적으로 발전량에 영향이 미미한 일출 및 일몰 시간 대에도 I-V 곡선 추출이 가능한 바, 발전에 영향을 미치지 않고 효율적으로 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 상태를 진단할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, PV 모듈 별 실제 I-V 곡선을 추출하기 때문에 상태 진단의 정확도가 높다.
도 4는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 PV 모듈의 등가 회로도를 도시한 도면이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, PV 모듈(10)의 출력단은 MLPE(200)와 연결된다. 또한, PV 모듈(10)의 출력단에 걸리는 전압(VPV)과 출력단에 흐르는 전류(IPV)는 MLPE(200)에 의해 측정될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, MLPE(200)가 추출하는 I-V 곡선의 형태는 PV 모듈(10)의 등가 회로도에 도시된 션트 저항(Rsh)과 직렬 저항(Rs)에 영향을 받을 수 있다. 따라서, 추출되는 I-V 곡선의 형태에 따라 션트 저항(Rsh)과 직렬 저항(Rs)의 열화 등 이상 여부를 확인할 수 있다. 구체적인 예시는 도 7을 참조하여 설명한다.
도 5는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 DC-DC 컨버터의 회로도를 도시한 도면이다.
DC-DC 컨버터(210)는 상보적으로 온 혹은 오프 동작하는 제1 스위치(S1) 및 제2 스위치(S2)를 포함한다. 프로세서(220)는 제1 스위치(S1)의 듀티비를 0에서 1로 단계적으로 증가하도록 제어할 수 있다. 이때, 프로세서(220)는 제2 스위치(S2)가 제1 스위치(S1)와 반대로 동작하도록 제어한다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 듀티비는 각 듀티 싸이클마다 일정 수치로 증가하도록 제어될 수 있다. 구체적인 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 제2 모드의 후술하는 제3 시점(t3, I-V 곡선의 추출을 시작하는 시점) 이후의 듀티 싸이클에서 점진적으로 듀티비가 일정 수치로 증가하도록 제1 스위치(S1)를 제어할 수 있다.
한편, 앞서 도 3의 S20과 관련하여 서술한 바와 같이, 본 발명에서는 I-V 곡선을 추출하는 제2 모드로 전환 시 인버터(400)와의 전력 연결을 해제하기 때문에 전류 패스를 형성해야 듀티비 제어가 가능해진다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, DC-DC 컨버터(210)는 평소 운전 중 필요에 따라 인버터(400)의 잔여 전력을 제거하기 위해 MLPE(200)의 출력단에 병렬로 연결되고, 제1 저항(R1)과 직렬 연결되는 제3 스위치(S3)를 더 구비하고 있다. 정상 운전 시(MPPT 제어를 수행하는 제1 모드)에는 제3스위치(S3)는 오프 동작을 하여 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 동작에 영향을 주지 않는다. 그러다, 잔여 전력 제거가 필요한 경우, 프로세서(220)는 제3스위치(S3)를 온 동작시켜 저항(R1)을 통해 잔여 전력을 소모시킨다. 즉, 제3 스위치(S3)는 후술하는 제1 시점(t1, 제1 모드에서 제2 모드로 전환되는 시점)으로부터 소정의 시간이 경과된 제2 시점(t2, 제3 스위치가 온 동작하는 시점)에 온 동작하여 전류 패스를 형성하고, 제1 시점(t1)에 존재하는 잔여 전력을 소진할 수 있도록 동작할 수 있다.
보다 상세히, 본 발명에서는 이러한 기능을 위해 구비된 제3 스위치(S3)를 활용하여 제2 모드 전환을 위해 인버터(400)와 전력 연결을 해제한 제1 시점(t1) 후에도 전류 패스를 형성시킨다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 제2 모드에서 전류 패스를 형성하기 위해 제3스위치(S3)가 온 동작하도록 제어한다. 제3스위치(S3)가 온 동작하는 경우, PV 모듈(10)에 전류가 흐르게 되고 저항(R1)을 통해 전력을 소모함에 따라 변화하는 전압(VPV)과 전류(IPV)를 측정할 수 있다.
이때, DC-DC 컨버터 회로는 도 5에 도시된 것으로 한정되지 않으며, 인버터와 전력 연결이 해제된 후에도 전류 패스를 형성할 수 있고, PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압이 듀티비 제어에 따라 조절되도록 설계되면 족하다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 장비, 시스템 그리고 회로 등의 추가 요소가 없이 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있으므로, 비용 절감이 가능하다.
이하, 도 6의 타이밍 다이어그램을 참조하여 시간에 따른 동작을 설명한다.
도 6은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 타이밍 다이어그램을 도시한 도면이다.
도 6에 도시된 타이밍 다이어그램은 위에서부터 차례로 시간에 따른 제3 스위치(S3)의 게이트 전압(VGS3), 제1 스위치(S1)의 듀티(D), PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압(VPV), PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전류(IPV), PV 모듈(10)의 전력(PPV)을 나타낸다. 도 6을 참고하면, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 제1 모드느 MPPT 모드이고, 제2 모드는 I-V 모드일 수 있다.
이때, 제3스위치(S3)의 게이트 전압(VGS3)이 0V인 경우 제3스위치(S3)는 오프 동작하고, 임계값 이상의 전압이 게이트에 인가되면 온 동작한다.
이하, 시간에 따른 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 동작을 살펴본다.
먼저, MLPE(200)는 제1모드(MPPT mode)에서 MPPT 제어를 수행하고 있다. 따라서, PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압(VPV), 출력 전류(IPV), 전력(PPV)은 모두 최대 전력점(MPP)에서 동작하고 있으며, 제3스위치(S3)의 게이트 전압(VGS3)은 0V로 오프 동작한다.
프로세서(220)는 제1 시점(t1)에 MLPE(200)의 출력단을 개방하여 인버터(400)와의 전력 연결을 해제하여, 제1 모드(MPPT mode)에서 제2 모드(I-V Curve Extracting mode)로 전환한다(Output open).
또한, 프로세서(220)는 제2 시점(t2)에 제2모 드에서 제3 스위치(S3)가 온 동작하도록 제어하여 전류 패스를 형성시킨다(S3 on). 이때, 프로세서(220)는 제1 스위치(S1)의 듀티비를 0으로 설정하여 제1 스위치(S1)가 오프 동작하도록 제어하고, 제2 스위치(S2)는 제1 스위치(S1)에 대한 상보 동작으로 온 동작하도록 제어한다. 이때, DC-DC 컨버터(210)는 개방 상태에 놓이게 된다. PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압(VPV)은 일정 값으로 측정되나, 출력 전류(IPV)는 0이게 된다. 이 출력 전압을 개방 전압(Voc)이라 한다.
이후, 프로세서(220)는 제1 스위치(S1)의 듀티비를 단계적으로 증가시키면서 듀티비 제어를 수행한다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티 사이클이 경과할 때마다 기설정된 수치로 듀티비가 증가하도록 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 제어할 수 있다. 이때, 프로세서(220)는 제3스위치(S3)의 온 동작 제어와 함께 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비 제어를 바로 수행하지 않고, 소정의 시간(t2 내지 t3) 간격을 둔다.
이는 DC-DC 컨버터(210) 내부의 캐패시터(C1, C2)나 인덕터(L1)에 잔여 전력이 남아 있을 수 있는 바, 저항(R1)을 통해 잔여 전력을 소모함으로써 보다 정확하게 PV 모듈(10)의 전압 및 전류를 측정하기 위함이다.
따라서, 프로세서(220)는 제3스위치(S3)가 온 동작하는 시점(이하, 제2 시점(t2)이라 한다.)으로부터 소정의 시간 이후의 시점(이하, 제3 시점(t3)이라 한다.)부터 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비를 제어한다(Start scan).
구체적으로, 프로세서(220)는 제3 시점(t3) 이후 제1 스위치(S1)의 듀티비를 0에서 1로 단계적으로 증가하도록 제어할 수 있다. 제1 스위치(S1)의 듀티비가 1일 때, PV 모듈(10)은 단락되어 출력 전압(VPV)은 0으로 측정되고, 출력 전류(IPV)는 한계값에 도달하게 된다. 이 출력 전류을 단락 전류(Isc)라 한다.
프로세서(220)가 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 듀티비를 제어하는 동안, 측정 장치는 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압(VPV) 및 출력 전류(IPV)를 측정하여 도 6의 타이밍 다이어그램과 같이 도시할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 측정된 출력 전압(VPV) 및 출력 전류(IPV)를 이용하여 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있다. 앞서 서술한 바에 따르면, 실시간으로 출력 전압(VPV) 및 출력 전류(IPV)값을 수신하는 경우, 프로세서(220)는 개방 전압(Voc) 지점에서부터 단락 전류(Isc) 지점을 따라 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있다.
다른 예로, 프로세서(220)는 타이밍 다이어그램을 이용하여 최대 전력점(MPP)을 추종할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 프로세서(220)는 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 출력 전력을 식별하고, 식별한 출력 전력 중 최대값을 MPP로 식별할 수 있다.
이하, 추출된 I-V 곡선을 이용하여 태양광 발전 시스템의 상태를 분석하는 방법을 살펴본다.
도 7a 및 도 7b는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전류-전압 곡선을 도시한 도면이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 I-V 곡선의 특성 정보에 기초하여 추출된 I-V 곡선에 대응하는 PV 모듈(10)의 상태를 진단할 수 있다. 다만, 이에 한정되지 않으며, 프로세서(220)는 서버나 모니터링용 전자장치 등 외부 장치가 태양광 발전 시스템(1)의 상태를 진단하도록 추출된 I-V 곡선을 전송할 수 있다. 모니터링용 전자장치는, 예를 들어, 데스크탑, 노트북, 스마트 폰 등으로 구현될 수 있다.
도 7a는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따라 추출된 I-V 곡선의 일 예이다. 도 7a를 참조하면, 제3 시점(t3)부터 추출한 I-V 곡선을 예시하고 있으며, Scan 방향은 시간에 따라 추출된 값의 시계열적인 순서 방향을 의미할 수 있다. 앞서 상술한 바와 같이, 제1 시점에 출력 전압은 개방 전압(Voc)이고 출력 전류는 0이다. 또한, DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 제1 스위치(S1)의 듀티비가 점차 증가하여 1이 되었을 때 , 최종적으로 출력 전압이 0이 되었을 때의 출력 전류는 단락 전류이며, 출력 전압은 0이 된다.
도 7a를 참조하면, 그래프 상의 점은 각 듀티 사이클의 시작점을 도시한 점일 수 있다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 각 튜티 사이클의 시작점 혹은 종료점에 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류 값을 획득하여 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있다. 도 7a에서는 설명의 편의를 위하여 점들 간의 각격이 이격되어 있는 것으로 표시하였지만, 본 발명의 실시예에 따르면 연속에 가까운 I-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있도록 DC-DC 컨버터(210)의 제1 스위치(S1)를 제어하는 듀티 사이클이 충분히 짧을 수 있다.
이하, 도 7b 를 참조하여 I-V 곡선의 특성을 살펴보면, 다음과 같다.
예를 들어, 앞서 도 4에 도시된 바와 같이, PV 모듈(10)의 션트 저항(Rsh)이 낮아지면, 누설 전류 패스가 생기는 것과 마찬가지로 I-V 곡선이 단락 전류(Isc) 부근에서 곡선의 기울기가 커질 수 있다. 따라서, I-V 곡선이 단락 전류(Isc) 부근에서 곡선의 기울기가 커지면(710), PV 모듈(10)의 션트 저항(Rsh)에 열화 등 이상이 존재함을 알 수 있다.
다른 예로, PV 모듈(10)의 직렬 저항(Rs)이 커지면, 전류의 흐름을 방해하는 것과 같이 곡선 인자(Fill Factor, FF)가 감소하므로 개방 전압(Voc) 부근에서 곡선의 기울기가 감소할 수 있다. 따라서, 개방 전압(Voc) 부근에서 곡선의 기울기가 감소하면(720), PV 모듈(10)의 직렬 저항(Rs)에 열화 등 이상이 존재함을 알 수 있다.
이때, 곡선 인자는 최대 전력점(MPP)에서의 전압과 전류의 곱(VmppХImpp) 을 개방 전압(Voc)과 단락 전류(Isc)의 곱으로 나눈 값이다. 즉, 면적(730)을 면적(740)으로 나눈 값으로도 볼 수 있다. 곡선 인자가 1에 가까울수록 해당 PV 모듈(10)의 품질은 좋은 것으로 판단할 수 있다. 곡선 인자 값에 따라 PV 모듈(10)의 수명이나 효율 등 품질을 파악할 수 있다.
또 다른 예로, MPP 부근에서 I-V 곡선의 형태에 따라 PV 모듈(10)간의 미스매칭(mismatching)이나, 연결 오류, 음영(shading) 상태 등을 파악할 수 있다.
이 외에도, I-V 곡선의 특성은 지속적인 연구를 통해 밝혀질 수 있으며, I-V 곡선을 이용한 태양광 발전 시스템의 상태 진단 방식은 다양하게 존재할 수 있다.
도면에 도시되지는 않았으나, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 전력(P)-전압(V) 곡선을 추출할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 프로세서(220)는 PV 모듈(10)의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 출력 전력을 식별하고, 식별한 출력 전압 및 출력 전력을 이용하여 P-V 곡선을 추출할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 프로세서(220)는 추출된 I-V 곡선 혹은 P-V 곡선을 이용하여 최대 전력점을 식별할 수 있어 MPPT 제어가 가능하다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 필요에 따라 간헐적이고 능동적으로 I-V 곡선 추출이 가능한 바 효율적이다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, I-V 곡선을 통해 상태 진단 뿐 아니라 MPPT 제어 등 다양한 기능 구현이 가능하다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 추출된 I-V 곡선을 통해 PV 모듈의 특성을 파악하여 능동형 사전 진단 기능 구현이 가능하다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 목적에 따라 PV 모듈의 열화 경향성 및 설치 환경에 따른 변화를 분석할 수 있어, 사이트 특성 별 제어 최적화를 위한 데이터 수집이 가능하다.

  1. 복수의 모듈 단위 전력 변환 장치(Module Level Power Electronics, MLPE)를 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법에 있어서,
    상기 MLPE의 제1 모드에서 최대 전력점 추적(Maximum Power Point Tracking, MPPT) 제어를 수행하는 동작;
    상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단과 인버터의 전력 연결을 해제하여 상기 제1 모드를 제2 모드로 전환하는 동작;
    상기 제2 모드로 전환된 후 MLPE 내에 구비된 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 제어하는 동작; 및
    상기 제2 모드에서의 상기 복수의 MLPE에 연결된 각 PV 모듈의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 추출하는 동작;
    을 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제1 모드를 제2 모드로 전환하는 동작은, 제1 시점에 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단이 개방되어 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단과 인버터의 전력 연결을 해제하는 동작인, 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법.

    상기 태양광 모듈의 출력 양단과 병렬 연결된 커패시터,
    상기 커패시터와 병렬 연결된 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치를 포함하며,
    상기 제1 스위치가 오프될 경우 제2 스위치가 온되어 상기 DC-DC 컨버터가 개방되고,
    상기 제1 스위치가 온 될 경우 상기 제2 스위치가 오프되어 PV 모듈의 출력 양단이 단락되도록 동작하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법.
  9. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 DC-DC 컨버터의 제3 스위치가 온되는 제3 시점에서, I-V 곡선의 기울기는, PV 모듈의 등가 회로도에서의 션트 저항의 손실에 대응하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법.
  10. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 듀티비가 점점 증가함에 따라 개방 전압이 0이 될 때의 I-V 곡선의 기울기는, PV 모듈의 등가 회로도에서의 직렬 저항의 손실에 대응하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 동작 방법.
  11. 태양광 발전 시스템에 있어서,
    태양광 발전 시스템의 모듈 단위 전력 변환 장치(Module Level Power Electronics, MLPE)로서,
    DC-DC 컨버터; 및
    상기 MLPE가 제1 모드에서 출력단에 연결된 인버터와 전력 연결을 해제하여 최대 전력점 추적(Maximum Power Point Tracking, MPPT) 제어를 수행하고, 제2 모드에서 전류(I)-전압(V) 곡선을 추출하도록 제어하며,
    상기 제2 모드에서 상기 DC-DC 컨버터의 듀티비를 제어하면서 측정되는 PV 모듈의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 I-V 곡선을 추출하는 프로세서를 포함하는 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  12. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 프로세서는, 제1 시점에 상기 MLPE의 모드를 상기 제1 모드를 제2 모드로 전환하고,, 상기 제1 시점에 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단이 개방되어 상기 복수의 MLPE의 출력단과 인버터의 전력 연결이 해제되도록 상기 MLPE를 제어하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  13. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 DC-DC 컨버터는,
    상보적으로 온 혹은 오프 동작하는 제1 스위치 및 제2 스위치를 포함하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  14. 제 13 항에 있어서,
    상기 DC-DC 컨버터는,
    상기 출력단에 병렬로 연결되고, 온 동작하여 전류 패스를 형성하는 제3 스위치 및 상기 제3 스위치와 직렬 연결되는 제1 저항을 포함하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  15. 제 14 항에 있어서,
    상기 프로세서는,
    상기 제2 모드에서 상기 제3스위치가 온 동작하도록 제어하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  16. 제 15 항에 있어서,
    상기 프로세서는,
    상기 제3스위치가 온 동작하는 제2 시점으로부터 소정의 시간 이후인 제3 시점부터 상기 제1 스위치의 듀티비를 0에서 1로 단계적으로 증가하도록 제어하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  17. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 프로세서는,
    상기 제2 모드에서 상기 PV 모듈의 출력 전압 및 출력 전류를 이용하여 출력 전력을 식별하고,
    상기 출력 전압 및 출력 전력을 이용하여 전력(P)-전압(V) 곡선을 추출하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  18. 제 17 항에 있어서,
    상기 프로세서는,
    식별한 상기 출력 전력 중 최대값을 최대 전력점(Maximum Power Point, MPP)으로 식별하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  19. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 프로세서는,
    I-V 곡선의 특성 정보에 기초하여 추출된 상기 I-V 곡선에 대응하는 PV 모듈의 상태를 진단하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
  20. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 복수의 MLPE는 상호간 직렬 연결되고, 각 MLPE는 상기 복수의 PV 모듈 중 적어도 하나의 PV 모듈과 연결되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 태양광 발전 시스템의 MLPE.
