  • Comparative Examples 1-2 to 1-6 show that when inks having a total content of cellulose nanofibers and layered compounds of less than 1% by mass are used, the gas barrier properties are hardly exhibited. The following two reasons are considered to be the causes of this. [1] If the total content of the cellulose nanofibers and the layered compound is less than 1% by mass, the ejection properties in the inkjet method are not excellent, and a uniform gas barrier film cannot be formed. Description

インクジェットインク及び印刷物製造方法
 本発明は、インクジェットインク及び印刷物製造方法に関する。
 より詳しくは、ガスバリア性を有する塗膜の生産性が良好なインクジェットインク、及び当該インクジェットインクを用いた印刷物製造方法に関する。
 食品、医薬品、精密機器等のために用いられる包装材料には、内容物を保護するために、酸素や水蒸気等の気体を遮断するガスバリア性が求められる。包装資材にガスバリア性を付与するための材料として、従来、アルミニウム、ポリ塩化ビニリデン、ポリビニルアルコール等が用いられてきた。
 また、包装資材にガスバリア性を付与するための新たな材料として、セルロースナノファイバーが注目されている。セルロースナノファイバーを構成するセルロースは、地球上で生産されるバイオマス材料の約半分を占める。セルロースナノファイバーは、生分解性を有することに加え、強度、弾性率、寸法安定性、耐熱性、結晶性などの物理特性にも優れている。そのため、セルロースナノファイバーは、機能性材料への応用が期待されている。非特許文献1では、このセルロースナノファイバーと無機層状鉱物を複合化した塗膜を作製することで、より高い酸素ガスバリア性が発現することが報告されている。また、特許文献1及び2では、バリア性の更なる向上と塗膜の耐湿性の向上を可能とする技術が開示されている。これらの技術では、ガスバリア膜形成用塗工液に、セルロースナノファイバーと無機層状鉱物に加え、水溶性高分子、サイズ剤、架橋剤、助剤などが併用されている。
 しかしながら、これらの従来のガスバリア膜形成用塗工液の成分や性状は、バーコーター方式やグラビアコーター方式等による塗布を想定したものであった。これらの塗布方式では、多様な基材への塗工量変更に際し毎度の版替えが必要となる。また、これらの塗布方式では、包材にガスバリア性以外の機能を付与したいときに、包材を積層構造にする必要がある。そのため、従来のガスバリア膜形成用塗工液を用いた場合、ガスバリア膜を有する包材等の生産プロセスが複雑になり、生産性が低いという問題があった。また、ガスバリア膜と他の機能膜を積層構造となるように連続印刷で形成しようとすると、他の機能膜形成用塗工液がガスバリア性に影響することがある。例えば、ガスバリア膜形成用塗工液を塗工した直後に接着剤を塗工すると、両方の材料が混ざり合ったりし、本来のガスバリア性が発現しないことがある。そのため、ガスバリア膜と他の機能膜を積層構造となるように連続印刷で形成すると、ガスバリア性の品質安定性に問題が出やすい。

 本発明は、上記問題・状況に鑑みてなされたものであり、その解決課題は、ガスバリア性を有する塗膜の生産性が良好なインクジェットインク、及び当該インクジェットインクを用いた印刷物製造方法を提供することである。
 本発明者は、上記課題を解決すべく、上記課題の原因等について検討した。その結果、本発明者は、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の合計含有量の下限と、インクの粘度の上限を限定することで、上記課題を解決できることを見いだした。これに基づき、本発明者は、本発明に至った。上記課題は、以下の手段により解決される。
 1.基材上に塗膜を形成するためのインクジェットインクであって、
 ガスバリア膜形成用であり、
 セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物とを含有し、
 前記セルロースナノファイバーと前記層状化合物の合計含有量が、1質量%以上であり、
 せん断速度1000(1/S)時の25℃における粘度が、100mPa・s以下である
 インクジェットインク。
 2.沸点200℃以下の親水性有機溶剤を5~30質量%の範囲内で含有する
 第1項に記載のインクジェットインク。
 3.中和剤を含有し、
 25℃におけるpHが、5~10の範囲内である
 第1項に記載のインクジェットインク。
 4.前記層状化合物の分散剤を含有する
 第1項に記載のインクジェットインク。
 5.インクジェットインクを用いた印刷物製造方法であって、
 基材に、第1項から第4項までのいずれか一項に記載のインクジェットインクをインクジェット方式で吐出し、塗膜を形成する工程を有する

 本発明の上記手段により、ガスバリア性を有する塗膜の生産性が良好なインクジェットインク、及び当該インクジェットインクを用いた印刷物製造方法を提供できる。
 本発明の効果の発現機構又は作用機構については、明確にはなっていないが、以下のように推察している。
 従来は、ガスバリア膜形成用塗工液を用いて基材にガスバリア性を付与する際、塗工液の全面ベタ塗布が慣例となっていた。これは、酸素や水蒸気などの侵入経路となる隙間をなくすためである。また、ガスバリア性を付与するためにインクジェット方式を活用する思想がなかった。これらを理由として、従来、塗工液を塗布する際には、インクジェット方式ではなく、バーコーター方式やグラビアコーター方式等が採用されていた。これによって、上述のとおり、従来技術には、ガスバリア膜を有する包材等の生産プロセスが複雑になり、生産性が低いという問題があった。また、ガスバリア膜と他の機能膜を積層構造となるように連続印刷で形成する従来技術には、ガスバリア性の品質安定性に問題が出やすいという問題があった。
 これに対し、本発明は、基材にガスバリア性を付与でき、かつ、インクジェット方式で塗布するのに適している組成物(インクジェットインク)である。具体的には、本発明のインクジェットインクは、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の両方を、合計含有量が1質量%以上となるように含有する。これによって、本発明のインクジェットインクは、基材に、高いガスバリア性を比較的少ない塗布量で付与できる。塗布量が少なくて済むことは、乾燥負荷の低減や、乾燥工程の短縮化につながる。また、本発明のインクジェットインクは、せん断速度1000(1/S)時の25℃における粘度が100mPa・s以下である。これによって、本発明のインクジェットインクは、インクジェット方式での塗布が可能となる。当該条件における粘度が100mPa・sを超える場合は、インクジェット方式での吐出性が悪く、塗布できない。
 インクジェット方式での塗布が可能であることにより、従来の塗布方式での版替え操作が不要となる。また、インクジェット方式によるパターニングでガスバリア性とその他の機能を基材の同一面に付与し、包材の積層数を減らすことができる。これによって、ガスバリア性の有する塗膜や、当該塗膜を有する包材等の印刷物の生産性を、良好にできる。

 本発明のインクジェットインクは、基材上に塗膜を形成するためのインクジェットインクであって、ガスバリア膜形成用であり、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物とを含有し、前記セルロースナノファイバーと前記層状化合物の合計含有量が、1質量%以上であり、せん断速度1000(1/S)時の25℃における粘度が、100mPa・s以下である。この特徴は、下記実施形態に共通する又は対応する技術的特徴である。
 本発明のインクジェットインクの実施形態としては、沸点200℃以下の親水性有機溶剤を5~30質量%の範囲内で含有することが好ましい。親水性有機溶剤は、インクの粘度調整や、インクジェット吐出時のノズル面の乾燥防止に寄与する。親水性有機溶剤は、沸点が200℃以下であることによって、塗膜中に残存しにくくなり、塗膜のガスバリア性を阻害しにくくなる。また、親水性有機溶剤の沸点が200℃以下であると、親水性有機溶剤が残存することを防ぐためのインクの乾燥条件が厳しくなくて済む。
 本発明のインクジェットインクの実施形態としては、インクとインクジェットヘッドとのマテリアル・コンパチビリティの観点から、中和剤を含有し、25℃におけるpHが、5~10の範囲内であることが好ましい。
 本発明のインクジェットインクの実施形態としては、前記層状化合物の分散剤を含有することが好ましい。これによって、層状化合物の水への分散安定性が高くなり、ガスバリア膜の緻密性が増す。これにより、ガスバリア膜のガスバリア性がより向上する。
 本発明の印刷物製造方法は、インクジェットインクを用いた印刷物製造方法であって、基材に、本発明のインクジェットインクをインクジェット方式で吐出し、塗膜を形成する工程を有する。
 本発明の印刷物製造方法の実施形態としては、前記インクジェット方式において、ノズルのメニスカスを1kHz以上で常時揺らすことが好ましい。これによって、ガスバリア性のばらつきが小さい塗膜を形成しやすくなる。
 以下、本発明とその構成要素、及び本発明を実施するための形態・態様について詳細な説明をする。なお、本願において、「~」は、その前後に記載される数値を下限値及び上限値として含む意味で使用する。
[本発明のインクジェットインクの概要]
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、基材上に塗膜を形成するためのインクジェットインクであって、ガスバリア膜形成用であり、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物とを含有し、前記セルロースナノファイバーと前記層状化合物の合計含有量が、1質量%以上であり、せん断速度1000(1/S)時の25℃における粘度が、100mPa・s以下である。
 以下、インクジェットインクを、単に「インク」ともいう。
 本発明のインクは、ガスバリア膜形成用である。「ガスバリア膜形成用」とは、ガスバリア性を有する塗膜を形成することを用途とすることを意味する。「ガスバリア膜」及び「ガスバリア性を有する塗膜」は、当該膜を有する基材のガスバリア性を向上させることができる膜のことをいう。ガスバリア性は、例えば酸素透過度[cm3/(m2・day・atm)]で評価できる。
 本発明のインクは、セルロースナノファイバー及び層状化合物を両方とも含有する。これによって、それぞれを単体で含有する場合よりも、高いガスバリア性を発現する。
 インクにおけるセルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の含有比は、インクの粘度やチキソ性、要求するガスバリア性に応じて選択できる。当該含有比は、「セルロースナノファイバーの質量:層状化合物の質量」で、1:100~100:1の範囲内が好ましく、1:10~10:1の範囲内がより好ましく、1:5~5:1の範囲内が更に好ましい。
[インクジェットインクの物性]
 セルロースナノファイバー及び層状化合物を含有するインクは、せん断力がかかると粘度が低下するチキソトロピー性を有する。このチキソトロピー性を制御することで、インクの吐出性能を好適に制御できる。インクジェット方式では、インク吐出時に、インクにせん断力がかかる。チキソトロピー性を有するインクでは、高いせん断力がかかっているときの粘度が特に重要である。
 本発明のインクは、せん断速度1000(1/s)時の25℃における粘度が、100mPa・s以下である。これによって、本発明のインクジェットインクは、インクジェット方式での塗布が可能となる。当該粘度が100mPa・sを超える場合は、インクジェット方式での吐出性が悪く、塗布できない。インクの当該条件における粘度は、吐出性の観点から、50mPa・s以下が好ましく、25mPa・s以下がより好ましい。インクの当該条件における粘度の下限は、特に限定されないが、吐出性の観点から、5mPa・s以上が好ましい。
[インクジェットインクの組成]
 本発明のインクの必須成分及び任意成分を以下説明する。
(セルロースナノファイバー)
 本発明のインクは、セルロースナノファイバーを含有する。
 セルロースナノファイバーは、セルロースをナノファイバー化したものである。本発明においては、公知のセルロースナノファイバーを使用できる。セルロースナノファイバーは、一般的に、セルロースの未変性での機械的処理、化学変性処理、酵素変性での生物的合成などで製造される。本発明においては、いずれの方法で製造されたセルロースナノファイバーでも好適に使用できる。
 未変性での機械的処理で製造されるセルロースナノファイバーは、未変性セルロースナノファイバーともいう。未変性セルロースナノファイバーは、未変性のセルロース繊維が機械的に解繊処理されたものである。解繊処理方法としては、高圧ホモジナイザー法(ゴーリン式)、マイクロフリュイダイザー法(対抗噴流衝突法)、砥石によるグラインダー法、ボールミル粉砕法、水中カウンターコリジョン法(ACC法)等が挙げられる。
 化学変性処理で製造されるセルロースナノファイバーは、化学変性セルロースナノファイバーともいう。化学変性セルロースナノファイバーは、セルロースに置換基が導入されたものである。化学変性セルロースナノファイバーとしては、セルロースのヒドロキシ基をカルボキシメチル化したもの、2,2,6,6-テトラメチル-1-ピペリジン-N-オキシル(TEMPO)に代表されるN-オキシラジカルを触媒として酸化してカルボキシ基を導入したもの、リン酸基又はリン酸基由来の置換基を有するもの、セルロース繊維のヒドロキシ基の一部に亜リン酸のエステル基が導入されているもの、ザンテート化セルロースから得られたもの等が挙げられる。カルボキシ基、リン酸エステル基、又は亜リン酸エステル基が導入された化学変性セルロースナノファイバーは、金属塩型及び酸型のいずれでもよい。
 酵素変性での生物的合成で製造されるセルロースナノファイバーは、酵素変性セルロースナノファイバーともいう。酵素変性セルロースナノファイバーは、酵素を用いて処理されたセルロースナノファイバーである。酵素変性セルロースナノファイバーとしては、セルラーゼ系酵素を用いて、機械的に解繊されたセルロースナノファイバー等が挙げられる。酵素を用いた処理は、解繊前、解繊と同時、及び解繊後のいずれの段階において行ってもよい。セルロースナノファイバーは、微生物によって合成されるバクテリアセルロースであってもよい。
 セルロースナノファイバーの平均繊維径は、200nm以下である。セルロースナノファイバーの平均繊維径は、好ましくは1~200nm、より好ましくは1~100nm、更に好ましくは1~50nmである。
 セルロースナノファイバーの平均アスペクト比は、好ましくは10~2000、より好ましくは10~500、更に好ましくは100~350である。「アスペクト比」とは、繊維長を繊維径で除した値である。
 繊維径が細く、かつアスペクト比が小さい短繊維セルロースナノファイバーの方が、繊維間の水素結合が弱く、インクの粘度上昇を抑えられる。そのため、インクジェット吐出安定性の観点からは、短繊維セルロースナノファイバーが好ましい。
 セルロースナノファイバーとしては、例えば以下のものを好適に利用できる。

 インクにおけるセルロースナノファイバーの含有量が高くなり過ぎると、インクの高粘度化及びゲル化が顕著となり、インクジェット方式での吐出安定性が悪くなる。そのため、セルロースナノファイバーの含有量は、5質量%以下が好ましく、3質量%以下がより好ましい。一方、必要なガスバリア性を少ないインク塗布量で付与する観点からは、セルロースナノファイバーの含有量は少な過ぎない方がよい。そのため、セルロースナノファイバーの含有量は、0.25質量%以上が好ましく、0.5%質量以上がより好ましい。
 セルロースナノファイバーは、親水性セルロースからの解繊プロセス上、水分散体として製造されることが多い。そのため、セルロースナノファイバーの水分散体を層状化合物と混合し、水性インクジェットインクとすることが、インク調製プロセスの観点から好ましい。また、セルロースナノファイバーの乾燥体を水に再分散させて用いてもよい。
 セルロースナノファイバーは、二種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
(層状化合物)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、層状化合物を含有する。
 層状化合物は、ガスバリア膜形成用塗工液に用いる際には、層間で剥離し、ナノシートとなって分散する。層状化合物のナノシートの大きさ、形状及び組成は、層状化合物の種類によって様々である。代表的な層状化合物のナノシートの厚さは、約1nmである。ナノシートの長手方向の平均長さは、層状化合物の産地及び合成手法等によって様々である。ナノシートの長手方向の平均長さは、一般には、例えば、合成スメクタイトで40~50nm、天然のモンモリロナイトで200~400nm、合成雲母及びヘクトライトで0.1~10μm、天然雲母又はハイドロタルサイトの合成品で特に大きなものでは数十μmである。ナノシートの多くは永久電荷を有し、その電荷を補償するために、多くの場合、無機イオンがナノシートの層の間に存在して電気的中性を保持している。
 本発明では、層状化合物として、セルロースナノファイバーと併用して塗膜のガスバリア性を発現する層状化合物を自由に使用できる。例えば、層状化合物として、層状の構造を有する結晶性の無機化合物を用いることができる。
 層状化合物は、例えば無機層状化合物である。無機層状化合物は、板状無機結晶が積層された層状物質である。
 無機層状化合物の例としては、タルク、カオリナイト族、スメクタイト族、マイカ族等に代表される粘土鉱物を挙げることができる。粘土鉱物の具体例としては、カオリナイト、モンモリロナイト、ベントナイト、サポナイト、ヘクトライト、バイデライト、スティブンサイト、マガディアイト、アイラライト、カネマイト、ノントロナイト、バーミキュライト、ハロイサイト、テトラシリシックマイカ、ハイドロタルサイト等の粘度鉱物が挙げられる。なかでも、モンモリロナイト、雲母、ベントナイト、バイデライト、サポナイト、スティブンサイト及びヘクトライトの少なくとも一種が好ましい。
 無機層状化合物として粘土鉱物以外の化合物を用いることもできる。粘土鉱物以外の無機層状化合物としては、例えば層状の構造を有する、チタン酸塩、ニオブ酸塩、マンガン酸塩、リン酸塩、酸化スズ、酸化コバルト、酸化銅、酸化鉄、酸化ニッケル、酸化白金、酸化ルテニウム、酸化ロジウム等の金属酸化物が挙げられる。粘土鉱物以外の層状化合物として、上述の金属酸化物の成分元素の複合酸化物を用いることもできる。粘土鉱物以外の無機層状化合物として、グラファイトを用いることもできる。
 層状化合物は、天然のものでもよく、合成されたものでもよい。
 層状化合物は、二種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
 層状化合物のナノシートの長手方向の平均長さは、10~2000nmの範囲内が好ましく、10~500nmの範囲内がより好ましい。これによって、ガスバリア性、インク中での分散安定性、塗膜における分散性、及びインクジェットノズル内での詰まり防止を両立しやすくなる。層状化合物のナノシートは、長手方向に長いほど、気体が塗膜を透過する際の気体の拡散経路が長くなるため、ガスバリア性が高くなりやすい。一方、層状化合物のナノシートは、長手方向に長いほど、層間相互作用をする表面積が大きくなるため、剥離や分散が難しくなる。
 層状化合物のナノシートの平均長さ及び平均厚さは、例えば、電子顕微鏡や原子間力顕微鏡を用いて測定できる。層状化合物のナノシートの平均厚さは、例えば、所定の断面で測定される厚さの50個の平均値である。層状化合物のナノシートの平均長さは、ナノシートを平面視したときに最大径として測定される長さの50個の平均値である。層状化合物のナノシートのアスペクト比は、長さを厚さで除した値として求められる。
 層状化合物としては、例えば、天然のベントナイトを精製したクニピア-F、クニピア-G、合成サポナイトとしてスメクトン-SA、合成スティブンサイトとしてスメクトン-ST、合成ヘクトライトとしてスメクトン-SWN(いずれもクニミネ工業社製)、合成層状ケイ酸塩であるラポナイト(ビッグケミー社製)、合成マイカPDM-5B(トピー工業社製)、精製された天然ベントナイトであるベンゲル(豊順洋行製)等を用いることができる。また、層状化合物は、層状鉱物に対して有機化合物を複合化したものであってもよい。層状鉱物に対して有機化合物を複合化したものの例としては、長鎖アルキル基を有する第4級アンモニウムイオンをイオン交換によって層間にインターカレートした複合体が挙げられる。当該複合体の市販品としては、ベントン27、ベントン38(エレメンティススペシャリティーズ社製)等があげられる。
 インクにおける層状化合物の含有量が高くなり過ぎると、高粘度化及びゲル化が顕著となり、インクジェット方式での吐出安定性が悪くなる。そのため、層状化合物の含有量は、5質量%以下が好ましく、3質量%以下がより好ましい。一方、必要なガスバリア性を少ないインク塗布量で付与する観点からは、層状化合物の含有量は少な過ぎない方がよい。そのため、層状化合物の含有量は、0.25質量%以上が好ましく、0.5質量%以上がより好ましい。
(水)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、好適には分散媒として水を含有する水性インクである。
 インクが含有する水は、特に限定されず、例えばイオン交換水、蒸留水、又は純水であり得る。
 インクにおける水の含有量は、特に限定されず、他の成分の残部を構成する。
(親水性有機溶剤)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、インクの粘度調整や、インクジェット吐出時のノズル面の乾燥防止のために、親水性有機溶剤を含有することが好ましい。
 インクが含有する親水性有機溶剤としては、例えば、アルコール類、多価アルコール類、アミン類、アミド類、グリコールエーテル類、炭素数が4以上である1,2-アルカンジオール類などが挙げられる。
 アルコール類としては、例えば、メタノール、エタノール、1-プロパノール、2-プロパノール、1-ブタノール、2-ブタノール、2-メチル-1-プロパノール、t-ブタノール、3-メトキシ-1-ブタノール、3-メトキシ-3-メチルブタノール、1-オクタノール、2-オクタノール、n-ノニルアルコール、トリデシルアルコール、n-ウンデシルアルコール、ステアリルアルコール、オレイルアルコール、ベンジルアルコール等が挙げられる。
 多価アルコール類としては、例えば、エチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、テトラエチレングリコール、エチレンオキサイド基の数が5以上のポリエチレングリコール、プロピレングリコール、ジプロピレングリコール、トリプロピレングリコール、プロピレンオキサイド基の数が4以上のポリプロピレングリコール、ブチレングリコール、ヘキサンジオール、ペンタンジオール、グリセリン、ヘキサントリオール、チオジグリコール等が挙げられる。
 アミン類としては、例えば、エタノールアミン、ジエタノールアミン、トリエタノールアミン、N-メチルジエタノールアミン、N-エチルジエタノールアミン、モルホリン、N-エチルモルホリン、エチレンジアミン、ジエチレンジアミン、トリエチレンテトラミン、テトラエチレンペンタミン、ポリエチレンイミン、ペンタメチルジエチレントリアミン、テトラメチルプロピレンジアミン等が挙げられる。
 アミド類としては、例えば、ホルムアミド、N,N-ジメチルホルムアミド、N,N-ジメチルアセトアミド等が挙げられる。
 グリコールエーテル類としては、例えば、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノプロピルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル等が挙げられる。
 炭素数が4以上である1,2-アルカンジオール類としては、例えば、1,2-ブタンジオール、1,2-ペンタンジオール、1,2-ヘキサンジオール、1,2-ヘプタンジオール等が挙げられる。
 親水性有機溶剤は、二種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
 親水性有機溶剤の沸点は、200℃以下であることが好ましい。有機溶剤が塗膜中に残存すると、ガスバリア性が向上しにくくなる。沸点が200℃以下である親水性有機溶剤は、塗膜中に残存しにくい。また、親水性有機溶剤の沸点が200℃以下であると、親水性有機溶剤が残存することを防ぐためのインクの乾燥条件が厳しくなくて済む。
 塗膜中への残存量を少なくする観点から、インクにおける親水性有機溶剤の含有量は、30質量%以下が好ましく、20質量%以下がより好ましい。一方、インクジェット吐出時のノズル面の乾燥防止の観点からは、インクにおける親水性有機溶剤の含有量は、5質量%以上が好ましい。
(中和剤)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、必要に応じて中和剤を含有することが好ましい。層状化合物、特に層状粘土鉱物は、その大きい表面電荷からpH10~11程度のアルカリ性であることが多い。そのため、層状化合物を含有するインクは、pHが高くなりやすい。インクとインクジェットヘッドとのマテリアル・コンパチビリティの観点からは、インクのpHは、高過ぎない方が好ましい。インクのpHを適度に調整することによって、インクジェットヘッドの部材、接着剤等をインク成分が腐食したり溶解したりすることを防ぐことができる。そのため、インクは中和剤を更に含有し、25℃におけるpHが5~10の範囲内に調整されることが好ましく、6~9の範囲内に調整されることがより好ましい。
 中和剤の種類は特に限定されないが、クエン酸等の弱酸性で取り扱いやすい酸性中和剤であることが好ましい。
 インクが中和剤を含有する場合は、層状化合物の表面電荷が中和され、層状化合物の分散性が低下することがある。そのため、中和剤は、層状化合物の分散剤としても機能するものも好ましい。層状化合物の分散剤としても機能する酸性中和剤の例としては、ピロリン酸二水素二ナトリウム、エチドロン酸二ナトリウム等が挙げられる。中和剤と後述の層状化合物の分散剤を併用することも好ましい。
(層状化合物の分散剤)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、必要に応じて層状化合物の分散剤を含有することが好ましい。層状化合物の分散剤は、層状化合物の水への分散安定性を高め、緻密なガスバリア膜を形成しガスバリア性の向上に寄与する。層状化合物の分散剤は、上述のとおり、インクが中和剤を含有する場合に特に有用である。中和剤と分散剤を併用したインクを調製する際には、層状化合物の水分散体に対し、先に分散剤を添加し攪拌した後に中和剤を添加し、系のpHを調整することが好ましい。
 層状化合物の分散剤としては、例えばリン酸塩系分散剤、ポリカルボン酸塩系分散剤等が挙げられる。
 リン酸塩系分散剤は、層状化合物の粒子側面に吸着し、リン酸塩が持つマイナス電荷に基づく静電反発力によって、層状化合物の分散安定性を高めると考えられる。リン酸塩系分散剤としては、具体的には、オルソリン酸ナトリウム、ピロリン酸ナトリウム(二リン酸ナトリウム)、ピロリン酸二水素二ナトリウム、エチドロン酸四ナトリウム、エチドロン酸二ナトリウム、トリポリリン酸ナトリウム(三リン酸ナトリウム)、テトラリン酸ナトリウム、ヘキサメタリン酸ナトリウム、ポリリン酸ナトリウム、リン酸三ナトリウム、リン酸二水素ナトリウムなどが挙げられる。好ましいリン酸塩系分散剤としては、ピロリン酸ナトリウム、ピロリン酸二水素二ナトリウム、トリポリリン酸ナトリウム、エチドロン酸二ナトリウム、ヘキサメタリン酸ナトリウム等が挙げられる。
 ポリカルボン酸塩系分散剤は、層状化合物の粒子側面に吸着し、ポリカルボン酸塩(カルボン酸塩)が持つマイナス電荷に基づく静電反発力によって、層状化合物の分散安定性を高めると考えられる。ポリカルボン酸塩系分散剤は、例えば、ナトリウムなどの無機カチオン(金属カチオン)やアンモニウムなどの有機カチオンといったカチオンと、カルボン酸と、の塩の重合体である。ポリカルボン酸塩系分散剤の例としては、ポリ(メタ)アクリル酸塩、ポリ(メタ)アクリル酸塩/マレイン酸塩共重合体などが挙げられる。ポリカルボン酸塩系分散剤の例には、ポリカルボン酸ナトリウム、ポリカルボン酸アンモニウム等が含まれる。ポリカルボン酸ナトリウムの例には、ポリ(メタ)アクリル酸ナトリウム、(メタ)アクリル酸ナトリウム/マレイン酸ナトリウム共重合体等が含まれる。ポリカルボン酸アンモニウムの例には、ポリ(メタ)アクリル酸アンモニウム、(メタ)アクリル酸アンモニウム/マレイン酸アンモニウム共重合体等が含まれる。
 インクにおけるリン酸塩系分散剤の含有量は、層状化合物100質量部に対して、1~100質量部の範囲内が好ましく、10~60質量部の範囲内がより好ましく、20~40質量部の範囲内が更に好ましい。
 インクにおけるポリカルボン酸塩系分散剤の含有量は、層状化合物100質量部に対して、1~100質量部の範囲内が好ましく、10~60質量部の範囲内がより好ましく、20~40質量部の範囲内が更に好ましい。
 分散剤の含有量が上記下限値以上であることによって、層状化合物の分散安定化の効果が安定して発揮される。これにより、層状化合物の微細な分散状態が得られやすくなり、また、水分散型重合体との混合において凝集を引き起こしにくくなる。ここでの水分散型重合体とは、主にセルロースナノファイバーであるが、ポリビニルアルコール等の水溶性樹脂や水分散性樹脂も含む。分散剤の含有量が上記上限値以下であることによって、水分散液のイオン強度が高過ぎることによる分散剤等の塩析を、防ぐことができる。
(セルロースナノファイバーの分散剤)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、必要に応じてセルロースナノファイバーの分散剤を含有することが好ましい。セルロースナノファイバーの分散剤としては、親水基を有する化合物を使用できる。親水基の例としては、ヒドロキシ基、アミノ基、カルボキシ基、スルホ基、リン酸基等が挙げられる。
 セルロースナノファイバーの分散剤は、親水基を有するモノマーや、界面活性剤であり得る。親水基を有するモノマーの例としては、プロピレングリコール、N-ビニルアセトアミド等が挙げられる。界面活性剤は、親水性の置換基を有する部位と疎水性の置換基を有する部位とが共有結合した化学構造を有する化合物のことをいう。
(界面活性剤)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、必要に応じて界面活性剤を含有することが好ましい。これにより、インクの吐出安定性の向上や、基材に着弾した液滴の広がり(ドット径)の制御ができる。
 界面活性剤は、本発明の効果を損なうことのない範囲であれば、特に制限なく用いることができるが、ノニオン性界面活性剤が好ましい。イオン性界面活性剤は層状化合物の永久電荷と相互作用し、界面活性能が発現しにくくなるためである。
 本発明においては、静的な表面張力の低下能が高いフッ素系又はシリコーン系界面活性剤;動的な表面張力の低減能が高いジオクチルスルホサクシネートなどのアニオン界面活性剤;比較的低分子量のポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルフェニルエーテル、アセチレングリコール類、プルロニック型界面活性剤(「プルロニック」は登録商標)、ソルビタン誘導体などのノニオン界面活性剤;が好ましく用いられる。フッ素系又はシリコーン系界面活性剤と、動的な表面張力の低減能が高い界面活性剤と、を併用して用いることも好ましい。
 シリコーン系の界面活性剤は、好ましくはポリエーテル変性ポリシロキサン化合物である。
 シリコーン系の界面活性剤の市販品の例としては、信越化学工業製のKF-351A、及びKF-642、ビッグケミー社製のBYK345、BYK347及びBYK348、エボニック社製のTEGOWET250等が挙げられる。
 フッ素系の界面活性剤は、通常の界面活性剤の疎水基の炭素に結合した水素の代わりに、その一部又は全部をフッ素で置換したものを意味する。フッ素系の界面活性剤は、分子内にパーフルオロアルキル基を有するものが好ましい。
 フッ素系の界面活性剤の市販品の例としては、大日本インキ化学工業社製のメガファック(Megafac)F、旭硝子社製のサーフロン(Surflon)、ミネソタ・マイニング・アンド・マニファクチュアリング・カンパニー社製のフルオラッド(Fluorad)FC、インペリアル・ケミカル・インダストリー社製のモンフロール(Monflor)、イー・アイ・デュポン・ネメラス・アンド・カンパニー社製のゾニルス(Zonyls)、ファルベベルケ・ヘキスト社製のリコベット(Licowet)VPF等が挙げられる。
 インクにおける界面活性剤の含有量は、特に限定されないが、0.1~5.0質量%の範囲内が好ましい。
(その他の樹脂)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、塗膜のガスバリア性や基材への定着性を向上させるために、セルロースナノファイバー以外の樹脂を更に含有していてもよい。以下、セルロースナノファイバー以外の樹脂を「その他の樹脂」ともいう。その他の樹脂としては、水溶性樹脂や、セルロースナノファイバー以外の水分散性樹脂が挙げられる。
 インクが含有するその他の樹脂は、一種でも二種以上でもよい。
 インクは、その他の樹脂として、ポリビニルアルコール系重合体及びその誘導体からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも一種のポリビニルアルコール樹脂を含有することが好ましい。ポリビニルアルコール樹脂のケン化度は、95%以上が好ましい。ポリビニルアルコール樹脂の重合度は、300~2400が好ましく、450~2000がより好ましい。ポリビニルアルコール樹脂は、ケン化度や重合度が高い程、吸湿膨潤性が低くなる。ポリビニルアルコール樹脂のケン化度が95%以上であると、充分なガスバリア性が得られやすい。ポリビニルアルコール樹脂の重合度が300以上であると、ガスバリア性及び皮膜凝集強度に優れやすい。ポリビニルアルコール樹脂の重合度が2400以下であると、インクの粘度の上昇を抑制し、他の成分と均一に混合しやすく、ガスバリア性や密着強度の低下といった不具合を抑制しやすい。ポリビニルアルコール樹脂のケン化度及び重合度は、JIS K 6726:1994に記載の方法により測定できる。
 ポリビニルアルコール樹脂以外のその他の樹脂としては、ポリエステル樹脂、ポリウレタン樹脂、ポリアクリル樹脂等が挙げられる。
 ポリエステル樹脂は、多価アルコール成分と多価カルボン酸成分とを用いて得ることができる。多価カルボン酸成分は、多価カルボン酸、多価カルボン酸無水物、多価カルボン酸エステル等であり得る。
 上記多価アルコール成分の例としては、2価のアルコール(ジオール)が挙げられる。2価のアルコール(ジオール)としては、炭素数2~36の範囲内のアルキレングリコール(エチレングリコール、1,2-プロピレングリコール、1,3-プロピレングリコール、1,4-ブチレングリコール、1,6-ヘキサンジオール等)、炭素数4~36の範囲内のアルキレンエーテルグリコール(ジエチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、ジプロピレングリコール、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリプロピレングリコール、ポリブチレングリコール等)、炭素数6~36の範囲内の脂環式ジオール(1,4-シクロヘキサンジメタノール、水素添加ビスフェノールA等)、前記脂環式ジオールの炭素数2~4の範囲内のアルキレンオキシド(エチレンオキシド(以下、EOと略記する。)、プロピレンオキシド(以下、POと略記する。)、ブチレンオキシド(以下、BOと略記する。))付加物(付加モル数1~30の範囲)ビスフェノール類(ビスフェノールA、ビスフェノールF、ビスフェノールS等)の炭素数2~4の範囲内のアルキレンオキシド(EO、PO、BO等)付加物(付加モル数2~30の範囲)等が挙げられる。これらは、一種単独で使用してもよいし、二種以上を併用してもよい。
 上記多価カルボン酸成分の例としては、2価のカルボン酸(ジカルボン酸)が挙げられる。2価のカルボン酸(ジカルボン酸)としては、炭素数4~36の範囲内のアルカンジカルボン酸(コハク酸、アピジン酸、セバシン酸等)、アルケニルコハク酸(ドデセニルコハク酸等)、炭素数4~36の範囲内の脂環式ジカルボン酸(2量化リノール酸等)、炭素数4~36の範囲内のアルケンジカルボン酸(マレイン酸、フマル酸、シトラコン酸、メサコン酸等)、炭素数8~36の範囲内の芳香族ジカルボン酸(フタル酸、イソフタル酸、テレフタル酸又はこれらの誘導体、ナフタレンジカルボン酸等)等が挙げられる。これらは、一種単独で使用してもよいし、二種以上を併用してもよい。
 ポリエステル樹脂の数平均分子量としては、1000~50000の範囲内が好ましく、2000~20000の範囲内がより好ましい。
 ポリエステル樹脂としては、市販品を使用してもよい。市販品としては、例えば、ポリエステル樹脂が水系溶剤に分散している分散液を用いてもよい。ポリエステル樹脂の分散液の市販品としては、以下のものが例示できる。例示において、括弧内には当該商品(分散液)が含有するポリエステル樹脂の数平均分子量を示す。これらは、一種単独で使用してもよいし、二種以上を併用してもよい。
 ポリエステル樹脂の分散液の市販品として、エリーテルKA-5034(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:8500)、エリーテルKA-5071S(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:8500)、エリーテルKA-1449(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:7000)、エリーテルKA-0134(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:8500)、エリーテルKA-3556(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:8000)、エリーテルKA-6137(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:5000)、エリーテルKZA-6034(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:6500)、エリーテルKT-8803(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:15000)、エリーテルKT-8701(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:13000)、エリーテルKT-9204(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:17000)、エリーテルKT-8904(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:17000)、エリーテルKT-0507(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:17000)、エリーテルKT-9511(ユニチカ社製、数平均分子量:17000)、バイロナールMD-2000(東洋紡社製、数平均分子量:18000)等が挙げられる。
 ポリウレタン樹脂としては、親水基を有するものを用いることができる。上記親水基の例には、カルボキシ基(-COOH)及びその塩、スルホン酸基(-SO3H)及びその塩等が含まれる。上記塩の例には、アルカリ金属塩、アミン塩等が含まれる。アルカリ金属塩の例には、ナトリウム塩、カリウム塩等が含まれる。親水基の中では、カルボキシ基又はその塩であることが好ましい。
 ポリウレタン樹脂は、その分子内に水溶性官能基を有する自己乳化型ポリウレタンが水系溶剤に分散した分散液、又は界面活性剤を併用して強力な機械剪断力の下で乳化した強制乳化型ポリウレタンが水系溶剤に分散した分散液であることが好ましい。分散液におけるポリウレタン樹脂は、ポリオールと有機ポリイソシアネート及び親水基含有化合物との反応により得ることができる。
 ポリウレタン樹脂の分散液の調製に使用し得るポリオールの例には、ポリエステルポリオール、ポリエーテルポリオール、ポリカーボネートポリオール、ポリオレフィン系ポリオール等が含まれる。
 ポリエステルポリオールの例には、低分子ポリオールとポリカルボン酸との縮合物が含まれる。低分子ポリオールの例には、エチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、1,2-プロピレングリコール、1,3-プロピレングリコール、ネオペンチルグリコール、1,3-ブタンジオール、1,4-ブタンジオール、3-メチルペンタンジオール、ヘキサメチレングリコール、1,8-オクタンジオール、2-メチル-1,3-プロパンジオール、ビスフェノールA、水添ビスフェノールA、トリメチロールプロパン、シクロヘキサンジメタノール等が含まれる。ポリカルボン酸の例には、コハク酸、グルタル酸、アジピン酸、セバシン酸、フタル酸、イソフタル酸、テレフタル酸、トリメリット酸、テトラヒドロフラン酸、エンドメチンテトラヒドロフラン酸、ヘキサヒドロフタル酸等が含まれる。
 ポリエーテルポリオールの例には、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリプロピレングリコール、ポリエチレンポリテトラメチレングリコール、ポリプロピレンポリテトレメチレングリコール、ポリテトラメチレングリコール等が含まれる。
 ポリカーボネートポリオールの例には、炭酸誘導体とジオールとの反応物が含まれる。炭酸誘導体の例には、ジフェニルカーボネート、ジメチルカーボネート、ホスゲン等が含まれる。ジオールの例には、エチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、1,2-プロピレングリコール、1,3-プロピレングリコール、ネオペンチルグリコール、1,3-ブタンジオール、1,4-ブタンジオール、3-メチルペンタンジオール、ヘキサメチレングリコール、1,8-オクタンジオール、2-メチル-1,3-プロパンジオール、ビスフェノールA、水添ビスフェノールA、トリメチロールプロパン、シクロヘキサンジメタノール等が含まれる。
 ポリウレタン樹脂の分散液の調製に使用し得る有機ポリイソシアネートの例には、芳香族イソシアネート、脂肪族イソシアネート、脂環族イソシアネート等が含まれる。芳香族イソシアネートの例には、トリレンジイソシアネート(TDI)、ジフェニルメタンジイソシアネート(MDI)、ポリメリックMDI、キシリレンジイソシアネート(XDI)、テトラメチルキシリレンジイソシアネート(TMXDI)等が含まれる。脂肪族イソシアネートの例には、ヘキサメチレンジイソシアネート(HMDI)等が含まれる。脂環族イソシアネートの例には、ソホロンジイソシアネート(IPDI)、4,4′-ジシクロヘキシルメタンジイソシアネート(水素添加MDI、H12MDI)等が含まれる。これらは、一種類のみを単独で使用してもよく、二種類以上を併用してもよい。
 ポリウレタン樹脂の分散液の調製に使用し得る親水基含有化合物の例には、カルボン酸含有化合物、カルボン酸含有化合物の誘導体、スルホン酸含有化合物、スルホン酸含有化合物の誘導体等が含まれる。カルボン酸含有化合物の例には、2,2-ジメチロールプロピオン酸、2,2-ジメチロールブタン酸、2,2-ジメチロール酪酸、2,2-ジメチロール吉草酸、グリシン等が含まれる。カルボン酸含有化合物の誘導体の例には、カルボン酸含有化合物のナトリウム塩、カルボン酸含有化合物のカリウム塩、カルボン酸含有化合物のアミン塩等が含まれる。スルホン酸含有化合物の例には、タウリン(アミノエチルスルホン酸)、エトキシポリエチレングリコールスルホン酸等が含まれる。スルホン酸含有化合物の誘導体の例には、スルホン酸含有化合物のナトリウム塩、スルホン酸含有化合物のカリウム塩、スルホン酸含有化合物のアミン塩等が含まれる。
 ポリウレタン樹脂は、公知の方法により得ることができる。例えば、上述したポリオールと有機ポリイソシアネートと、親水基含有化合物とを混合し、30~130℃で30分~50時間反応させることにより、ポリウレタン樹脂を得ることができる。
 ポリウレタン樹脂は、鎖伸長剤により伸長してポリマー化することで、親水基を有するポリウレタン樹脂となる。鎖伸長剤としては、水及び/又はアミン化合物であることが好ましい。鎖伸長剤として水やアミン化合物を用いることにより、遊離イソシアネートと短時間で反応して、イソシアネート末端プレポリマーを効率よく伸長させることができる。
 鎖伸長剤としてのアミン化合物の例には、脂肪族ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリヒドラジノ化合物等が含まれる。脂肪族ポリアミンの例には、エチレンジアミン、トリエチレンジアミン等が含まれる。芳香族ポリアミンの例には、メタキシレンジアミン、トルイレンジアミン等が含まれる。ポリヒドラジノ化合物の例には、ヒドラジン、アジピン酸ジヒドラジド等が含まれる。
 鎖伸長剤と併用して、ポリマー化を大きく阻害しない程度で、ジブチルアミンなどの1価のアミンや、メチルエチルケトオキシム等を、反応停止剤として用いてもよい。
 ポリウレタン樹脂の合成においては、イソシアネートと不活性であり、ウレタンプレポリマーを溶解しうる溶媒を用いてもよい。これらの溶媒の例には、ジオキサン、メチルエチルケトン、ジメチルホルムアミド、テトラヒドロフラン、N-メチル-2-ピロリドン、トルエン、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート等が含まれる。反応段階で使用されるこれらの親水性有機溶媒は、最終的に除去されるものが好ましい。
 ポリウレタン樹脂の合成においては、反応を促進させるために、アミン触媒、スズ系触媒、チタン系触媒等の触媒を添加してもよい。アミン触媒の例には、トリエチルアミン、N-エチルモルフォリン、トリエチルジアミン等が含まれる。スズ系触媒の例には、ジブチルスズジラウレート、ジオクチルスズジラウレート、オクチル酸スズ等が含まれる。チタン系触媒の例には、テトラブチルチタネート等が含まれる。
 ポリウレタン樹脂の数平均分子量は、例えば50000~10000000である。本発明において、樹脂の数平均分子量(Mn)は、ゲル浸透クロマトグラフィー(GPC)で測定される値である。数平均分子量(Mn)は、例えば、株式会社島津製作所製「RID-6A」を用いて、ポリスチレン標準試料で作成した検量線から求めることができる。このとき、カラムには東ソー株式会社製「TSK-GEL」を、溶媒にはテトラヒドロフラン(THF)を用いる。カラム温度は40℃とする。
 ポリウレタン樹脂は市販品を用いてもよい。ポリウレタン樹脂の市販品としては、例えば、上記ポリウレタン樹脂が水系溶媒に分散する分散液を用いてもよい。
 ポリウレタン樹脂の分散液の市販品の例には、WBR-016U(大成ファインケミカル株式会社製)、スーパーフレックス620、スーパーフレックス650、スーパーフレックス500M、スーパーフレックスE-2000(いずれも第一工業製薬株式会社製、「スーパーフレックス」は同社の登録商標)、パーマリンUC-20(三洋化成工業株式会社製、「パーマリン」は同社の登録商標)、パラサーフUP-22(大原パラヂウム化学株式会社製)、エバファノールHA-560(日華化学社製)等が含まれる。
 ポリアクリル樹脂としては、(メタ)アクリル酸エステル成分の重合体、複数種の(メタ)アクリル酸エステル成分の共重合体、(メタ)アクリル酸エステル成分とそれ以外の重合性成分との共重合体が挙げられる。それ以外の重合性成分の例としては、スチレン成分が挙げられる。なお、本明細書において、(メタ)アクリル酸は、アクリル酸及びメタクリル酸の総称である。
 (メタ)アクリル酸エステル成分の例には、(メタ)アクリル酸メチル、(メタ)アクリル酸エチル、(メタ)アクリル酸プロピル、(メタ)アクリル酸ブル、(メタ)アクリル酸-2-ヒドロキシエチル、(メタ)アクリル酸-2-ヒドロキシプロピル、(メタ)アクリル酸-4-ヒドロキブチル、(メタ)アクリル酸シクロヘキシル、(メタ)アクリル酸テトラヒドロフルフリル、(メタ)アクリル酸イソボルニル、(メタ)アクリル酸ベンジル、(メタ)アクリル酸-2-ヒドロキシブチル、(メタ)アクリル酸ベンジル、(メタ)アクリル酸グリシジル、(メタ)アクリル酸、ジ(メタ)アクリル酸(ジ)エチレングリコール、ジ(メタ)アクリル酸-1,4-ブタンジオ-ル、ジ(メタ)アクリル酸-1,6-ヘキサンジオ-ル、トリ(メタ)アクリル酸トリメチロ-ルプロパン、ジ(メタ)アクリル酸グリセリン、(メタ)アクリル酸-2-エチルヘキシル、(メタ)アクリル酸ラウリル、(メタ)アクリル酸ステアリル、(メタ)アクリルアミド等が含まれる。
 スチレン成分の例には、スチレン、4-メチルスチレン、4-ヒドロキシスチレン、4-アセトキシスチレン、4-アセチルスチレン、スチレンスルホン酸等が含まれる。これらの成分は、一種類のみを単独で使用してもよく、二種類以上を併用してもよい。
 ポリアクリル樹脂の数平均分子量(Mn)は、1000~50000であることが好ましく、2000~20000であることがより好ましい。
 ポリアクリル樹脂としては、市販品を用いてもよい。ポリアクリル樹脂の市販品としては、例えば、上記ポリアクリル樹脂が水系溶媒に分散する分散液を用いてもよい。
 ポリアクリル樹脂の分散液の市販品の例には、デルペット60N、80N(旭化成株式会社製、「デルペット」は同社の登録商標)、ダイヤナールBR52、BR80、BR83、BR85、BR88(三菱ケミカル株式会社製、「ダイヤナール」は同社の登録商標)、KT75(デンカ株式会社製)、ビニブラン2680、2682、2684、2685(日信化学工業株式会社製、「ビニブラン」は同社の登録商標)、モビニール6800D(ジャパンコーティングレジン社製)等が含まれる。
(その他の成分)
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、本発明の効果を損なうことのない範囲で必要に応じて、その他の成分を更に含有していてもよい。その他の成分の例には、サイズ剤、架橋剤、助剤、粘度調整剤、比抵抗調整剤、皮膜形成剤、紫外線吸収剤、酸化防止剤、退色防止剤、防ばい剤、防錆剤等が含まれる。
 これらの成分は、例えばインクの吐出安定性、インクのインクジェット部材への適合性、インクの保存安定性、塗膜のガスバリア性、塗膜の耐湿性、塗膜の密着性、塗膜の強度、塗膜の耐擦性等の向上を目的として、用いられ得る。
[インクジェットインクの調製方法]
 本発明のインクジェットインクを調製する際には、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物を同時に分散することが難しい。そのため、いずれか一方の水分散体を調製した後に、その水分散体にもう一方の粉体、乾燥体又は水分散体を混合する方法が好ましい。例えば、セルロースナノファイバーの水分散体に対し、層状化合物の粉体を混合し分散する方法が好ましい。または、層状化合物の水分散体に対し、セルロースナノファイバーの乾燥体を混合し分散する方法が好ましい。または、セルロースナノファイバーの水分散体と層状化合物の水分散体をそれぞれ準備し、二種の水分散体を混合する方法がより好ましい。
 セルロースナノファイバーや層状化合物の水分散体には、上述の分散剤が添加されていることが好ましい。
 層状化合物の水分散体に分散剤を添加する場合は、あらかじめ層状化合物を水に浸漬し、攪拌した後に分散剤を添加することが好ましい。これにより、層状化合物の層間に水が十分に浸透するため、層状化合物が分散しやすくなる。
 水分散体やインクの調製には、スターラー、ホモミキサー、ディスパー、超音波分散機、ボールミル、サンドミル、ラインミル、高圧ホモジナイザー等の分散機を使用できる。
 分散機としてホモミキサー又はディスパーを用いる場合には、周速を、例えば400m/s以上、好ましくは800m/s以上、かつ、好ましくは2000m/s以下に設定する。これにより、各成分を十分に分散しやすくなる。
[印刷物製造方法]
 本発明の印刷物製造方法は、基材に、本発明のインクジェットインクをインクジェット方式で吐出し、塗膜を形成する工程を有する。「印刷物」とは、基材に塗膜が印刷されたもののことをいい、包材等のその他の加工がされたものを含む。
 基材は、インクジェットインクを塗布できるものであれば、特に限定されない。基材として、例えば、紙、フィルム、シート、織布、不織布等の薄状物を用いることができる。基材は、複数の層を有するものであってもよい。基材の厚さは、特に制限されない。
 インクジェット方式によるインクの塗工回数は、通常1回であるが、必要に応じて複数回でもよい。複数回塗工する場合には、前の塗工によって形成された塗膜が湿潤状態のうちに次の塗膜を形成する、いわゆるウェット・オン・ウェット方式で塗工することが好ましい。乾燥前の塗膜の厚さは、特に制限されないが、例えば1~500μmの範囲内である。
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、セルロースナノファイバー及び層状化合物を含有し、これによって低せん断時には高粘度のチキソトロピー性を有する。そのため、当該インクを用いたインクジェット方式による塗膜の形成には、インク循環機構を備えるインクジェットヘッドを好適に利用できる。
 インクジェットヘッドは、インク循環機構を備えるものが好ましい。インクジェットヘッドは、オンデマンド方式及びコンティニュアス方式のいずれでもよい。オンデマンド方式のインクジェットヘッドの例には、シングルキャビティー型、ダブルキャビティー型、ベンダー型、ピストン型、電気-機械変換方式、電気-熱変換方式等が含まれる。電気-機械変換方式には、シェアーモード型及びシェアードウォール型が含まれる。電気-熱変換方式には、サーマルインクジェット型及びバブルジェット(「バブルジェット」はキヤノン株式会社の登録商標)型が含まれる。
 インクジェットヘッドの中では、電気-機械変換方式に用いられる電気-機械変換素子として圧電素子を用いたインクジェットヘッドが好ましい。当該インクジェットヘッドは、ピエゾ型インクジェットヘッドともいう。
 インクジェットヘッドは、スキャン式及びライン式のいずれでもよいが、ライン式が好ましい。
 「ライン式のインクジェットヘッド」とは、印字範囲の幅以上の長さを持つインクジェットヘッドのことをいう。ライン式のインクジェットヘッドは、一つのヘッドで印字範囲の幅以上となる構成のものでもよいし、複数のヘッドを組み合わせて印字範囲の幅以上となる構成のものでもよい。
 ライン式のインクジェットヘッドは、複数のヘッドを、互いのノズルが千鳥配列となるように並設して、これらヘッド全体としての解像度を高くしてもよい。
 インクジェットヘッドは、注入経路を介してインクが注入される圧力室と、該圧力室の圧力変動を生じさせる圧力発生手段と、該圧力室に連通し、該圧力室の圧力変動により該圧力室内から外部に吐出されるインクの流路となるノズルと、上記圧力室に連通し、上記ノズルよりも内方のインクを排出させて上記注入経路に戻す2以上の循環路とを備えることが好ましい。このような、インクジェットヘッドについて図面を用いて以下に説明する。
 図1は、インクジェットヘッドを備えるインクジェット画像形成装置100を示す要部概略構成図である。図1は、インクジェットヘッド1の一部の断面を示している。図1に示されるインクジェットヘッド等は例示であって、本発明の印刷物製造方法に適用可能なインクジェットヘッド等はこれに限定されない。
 インクジェット画像形成装置100は、搬送される基材109上に、インクジェットヘッド1からインクの液滴を吐出して着弾させ、該液滴を乾燥して塗膜を形成する。基材109は、搬送手段108によって一定方向(副走査方向)に搬送される。ワンパス方式のインクジェット画像形成装置においては、インクジェットヘッド1は固定配置される。当該インクジェットヘッド1は、基材109が搬送される過程で、ノズル22から基材109に向けてインク液滴を吐出する。スキャン方式のインクジェット画像形成装置においては、インクジェットヘッド1は、キャリッジ機構107に搭載される。当該インクジェットヘッド1は、キャリッジ機構107により主走査方向に往復移動される過程で、ノズル22から基材109に向けてインク液滴を吐出する。搬送手段108及びキャリッジ機構107は、制御部104によって駆動制御される。インクジェットヘッド1の数は、例えば複数種のインクに対応して、複数であってもよい。
 インクタンク101は、インクを貯蔵する。インクタンク101とインクジェットヘッド1の共通インク室41は、移送路となるインク移送管102及び回収路となるインク返送管103によって連通されている。
 インク移送管102の途中には、インクジェット画像形成装置100の制御部104によって駆動制御される移送ポンプ105aが設けられている。この移送ポンプ105aが駆動することにより、インクタンク101内のインクが、インク移送管102を介してインクジェットヘッド1に移送される。
 インク移送管102の途中には、移送側サブタンク111aが設けられている。移送側サブタンク111aは、インクジェットヘッド1に移送されるインクが一旦貯留されるバッファ空間として構成されている。移送側サブタンク111aを介して、圧力制御手段を構成する移送圧力制御ポンプ110aにより、インク移送管102内のインクの圧力を制御することができる。移送圧力制御ポンプ110aは、インクジェットヘッド1内の制御部104aによって制御される。
 インク返送管103の途中には、制御部104によって駆動制御される返送ポンプ105bが設けられている。返送ポンプ105bが駆動することにより、インクジェットヘッド1内のインクが、インク返送管103を介してインクタンク101に返送される。
 インク返送管103の途中には、返送側サブタンク111bが設けられている。返送側サブタンク111bは、インクジェットヘッド1から返送されてきたインクが一旦貯留されるバッファ空間として構成されている。返送側サブタンク111bを介して、圧力制御手段を構成する返送圧力制御ポンプ110bにより、インク返送管103内のインクの圧力を制御することができる。返送圧力制御ポンプ110bは、インクジェットヘッド1内の制御部104aによって制御される。
 圧力制御手段は、移送圧力制御ポンプ110a及び返送圧力制御ポンプ110bから構成されるものに限定されず、これらのいずれかによって構成されるものであってもよい。この場合には、返送圧力制御ポンプ110bが第1の圧力制御手段となり、移送圧力制御ポンプ110aが第2の圧力制御手段となる。
 インクタンク101は、タンクの底面に到達しない仕切り板101aによって、インク移送室101bとインク返送室101cとに仕切られていることが好ましい。この場合、インク移送室101b内にインク移送管102の一端部を配置し、また、インク返送室101c内にインク返送管103の一端部を配置する。仕切り板101aは、インク返送室101cに返送されてきたインクに含まれる気泡が再度インク移送管102に流入しないように、インクを十分に脱気するために設けられる。気泡自体は浮力が高いので、気泡が仕切り板101aの下側を通過してインク移送室101bに流入することが抑制される。このような態様は、インクを循環使用する場合に好ましい態様である。
 インクジェットヘッド1は、インクマニホールド4と、配線基板3と、ヘッドチップ2と、ノズルプレート21とを有して構成されている。インクマニホールド4は、共通インク室41を構成する。配線基板3は、インクマニホールド4に接着されている。ヘッドチップ2は、配線基板3の下面部に接着されている。ノズルプレート21は、ヘッドチップ2の下面部に接着されている。
 インクマニホールド4は、合成樹脂材料等によって、下面部に開口部4aを有する横長の箱型に形成されている。インクマニホールド4は、開口部4aを、下面部に接着された配線基板3によって塞がれている。インクマニホールド4の内部空間は、インクタンク101から移送されたインクが貯留される共通インク室41となる。配線基板3は、例えばガラス基板である。この配線基板3には、図示しない電源回路にFPC基板を介して接続される図示しない配線パターンが形成されている。
 共通インク室41には、共通インク室41内にインクを供給する流路となるインク供給管5aが連設されている。インク供給管5aは、配線基板3から遠い側(上側)において、共通インク室41に連通されている。インク供給管5aの上端側には、接続部7aが設けられている。接続部7aは、インクジェット画像形成装置100側の接続部106aに着脱可能に接続される。インクジェット画像形成装置100側の接続部106aは、インク移送管102に連通している。これにより、インクジェットヘッド1は、インクタンク101からのインクの移送及び共通インク室41へのインクの供給が可能となる。
 共通インク室41には、共通インク室41内からインクを回収する流路となるインク回収管5bが連設されている。インク回収管5bは、配線基板3から遠い側(上側)において、共通インク室41に連通されている。インク回収管5bの上端側には、接続部7bが設けられている。接続部7bは、インクジェット画像形成装置100側の接続部106bに着脱可能に接続される。インクジェット画像形成装置100側の接続部106bは、インク返送管103に連通している。これにより、インクジェットヘッド1は、共通インク室41からのインクの回収及びインクタンク101へのインクの返送が可能となる。
 インクジェットヘッド1において、インク供給管5aから、インク回収管5bの途中のバッファ空間部6に至る流路が、主流路F1となる。
 図2は、インクジェットヘッド1が備えるヘッドチップ2の拡大断面図である。図3はインクジェットヘッド1が備えるノズルプレート21の平面図である。
 ヘッドチップ2は、複数のインクチャネル(圧力室)23及び複数のダミーチャネル(擬似圧力室)25を有する。各インクチャネル23及び各ダミーチャネル25は、ヘッドチップ2の上面部から下面部に亘って穿設された透孔である。各インクチャネル23は、上方端が配線基板3に開設された注入孔31aを介して共通インク室41に連通している。各インクチャネル23には、移送圧力制御ポンプ110aにより制御された圧力により注入孔31aから流入されたインクが充填される。この圧力は、インクタンク101内のインクの位置エネルギー及び移送ポンプ105aに起因する。
 各インクチャネル23の下方端は、ノズル22を介して外方(下方)に連通している。このインクジェットヘッド1においては、ノズル22よりも内方は、インクチャネル23内となる。インクチャネル23とノズル22との間に連通路が存在する場合には、ノズル22よりも内方は、連通路内となる。各ダミーチャネル25は、上方端を配線基板3により閉蓋され、下方端をノズルプレート21により閉蓋されて、密閉された空気室となっている。各インクチャネル23及び各ダミーチャネル25は、一方向(図2中、矢印X方向)に配列されてチャネル列を構成している。
 各インクチャネル23の両壁部は、圧力発生手段となる一対の圧電素子(駆動壁)24,24により構成されている。各インクチャネル23の両壁部とは、インクチャネル23とダミーチャネル25との間の隔壁である。圧電素子24,24は、図示しない電源回路からFPC基板及び配線基板3の配線パターンを介して電圧を印加されることによって、せん断変形する。インクチャネル23の両壁部をなす圧電素子24、24がせん断変形することにより、インクチャネル23に、膨張による減圧又は収縮による増圧といった圧力変動が生じる。インクチャネル23の圧力変動により、インクチャネル23内のインクに圧力が付与される。圧力が付与されたインクが、ノズル22を介して吐出される。
 圧電素子24,24は、一つのインクチャネル23あたり2枚(一対)が設けられており、各インクチャネル23それぞれの両壁部をなしている。一のインクチャネル23の壁部を構成する圧電素子24と、隣接するインクチャネル23の壁部を構成する圧電素子24との間には空隙がある。この空隙が、ダミーチャネル25である。したがって、各インクチャネル23は、独立して駆動できる。
 ヘッドチップ2には、導入路425を形成している。導入路425は、各インクチャネル23及び各ダミーチャネル25が構成するチャネル列の一端側の該チャネル列の外側に位置して設けられる。導入路425は、ヘッドチップ2の上面部から下面部に亘って穿設された透孔である。導入路425の横断面開口面積は、1つのインクチャネル23の横断面開口面積よりも大きくなっている。導入路425は、上方端が配線基板3に開設された導入孔31cを介して共通インク室41に連通している。共通インク室41には、移送圧力制御ポンプ110aにより制御された圧力により、導入孔31cからインクが流入される。この圧力は、インクタンク101内のインクの位置エネルギー及び移送ポンプ105aに起因する。
 ヘッドチップ2の下面部に接着された平板状のノズルプレート21には、各インクチャネル23に対応された複数のノズル22が穿設されている。ノズル22は、インクチャネル23を外部に連通させる透孔である。各インクチャネル23内のインクは、圧電素子24の作用によって吐出圧力を付与され、ノズル22を通って外部(下方)の基材に向けて吐出される。すなわち、ノズル22は、各インクチャネル23内から外部(下方)に吐出されるインクの流路となる。ノズルプレート21の下面部がインク吐出面1Sとなる。
 インクジェットヘッド1は、インクチャネル23に注入されたインクをノズル22の近傍から排出させてインクチャネル23への注入経路に戻すノズル循環機構を備えている。各インクチャネル23には、それぞれ2本の個別インク循環路26a、26aが連通されている。
 個別インク循環路26a、26aは、インクチャネル23の横断面長手方向の両端部においてインクチャネル23に連通している。インクチャネル23の両端部近傍は、気泡が残留することが多い箇所である。そのため、個別インク循環路26a、26aをインクチャネル23の横断面長手方向の両端部に設けることが好ましい。個別インク循環路26a、26aは、インクチャネル23のいずれの箇所においてインクチャネル23に連通していてもよい。1個のインクチャネル23に対する個別インク循環路26aの本数は、増減してもよいが、2個以上が好ましい。2個以上の循環路があることによって、チキソ性のあるインクでも滞留なく循環でき、またノズルに気泡が発生しても除去しやすくなる。
 個別インク循環路26a、26aは、流路形成溝28が、ヘッドチップ2の下面部によって閉蓋されることにより構成されている。流路形成溝28は、ノズルプレート21の上面部にノズル22近傍に始端部を有して形成されている。
 導入路425には、2本の導入溝425a、425aが連通される。導入溝425a、425aは、導入路425の両側部において導入路425に連通している。導入溝425a、425aは、導入路425の何れの箇所において導入路425に連通するようにしてもよい。1個の導入路425に対する導入溝425a、425aの本数は、増減してもよい。
 導入溝425a、425aは、ノズルプレート21の上面部に導入路425近傍に始端部を有して形成され、ヘッドチップ2の下面部により閉蓋されて流路を構成している。
 ヘッドチップ2の下面部には、共通インク循環路421が形成されている。共通インク循環路421は、ヘッドチップ2の下面部に形成された溝と、ノズルプレート21の上面部に形成された溝422と、が突き合わされることにより構成されている。
 共通インク循環路421は、チャネル列の方向(X方向)に形成された複数本の流路から構成されている。各インクチャネル23に連通した各個別インク循環路26a、26aは、共通インク循環路421に連通することにより合流している。各インクチャネル23内と共通インク循環路421内との間の圧力差により、各インクチャネル23から共通インク循環路421へのインクの流動が生じる。導入溝425a、425aは、共通インク循環路421に連通している。導入路425内と共通インク循環路421内との間の圧力差により、導入路425から共通インク循環路421へのインクの流動が生じる。そして、これら流動が合流して共通インク循環路421内のインク流動が生じる。
 共通インク循環路421の他端側は、ヘッドチップ2に形成された排出チャネル424の下方端に連通されている。排出チャネル424は、各インクチャネル23及び各ダミーチャネル25が構成するチャネル列の他端側の該チャネル列の外側に位置して設けられている。排出チャネル424内のインク流量は、導入路425内のインク流量よりも、各インクチャネル23を経たインクが合流している分だけ多くなる。そのため、流路抵抗を増大させないために、排出チャネル424の横断面開口面積を大きくする。
 個別インク循環路26aから共通インク循環路421に排出されたインクは、排出チャネル424、インク排出室412及びインク排出管5cを経て、バッファ空間部6に至る。バッファ空間部6に至ったインクは、上記経路によりインクタンク101に返送され、再びインクチャネル23への注入経路へと導入される。
 図1に示すように、インクマニホールド4内には、排出チャネル424の上方に位置して、インク排出室412が設けられている。インク排出室412は、インクマニホールド4内において、共通インク室41に隣接して設けられている。インク排出室412は、共通インク室41に対しては、隔壁45によって分離されている。隔壁45は、インクマニホールド4に一体的に形成することができる。
 注入孔31aからインクチャネル23に流入されたインクの一部は、個別インク循環路26a、26aから共通インク循環路421を経て、排出チャネル424に至る。排出チャネル424に至ったインクは、次いで、配線基板3に形成された排出孔31bを通って、インク排出室412に至る。注入孔31aからインクチャネル23に流入されたインクの一部とは、ノズル22から吐出されないインクである。導入孔31cから導入路425に流入されたインクは、導入溝425a、425a及び共通インク循環路421を経て排出チャネル424に至る。排出チャネル424に至ったインクは、次いで、排出孔31bを通ってインク排出室412に至る。
 インク排出室412には、循環路連結部5dを介して、インク排出室412内からインクを排出する流路をなすインク排出管5cが接続されている。循環路連結部5dは、排出チャネル424の上方側に位置する。循環路連結部5dは、各インクチャネル23及び各ダミーチャネル25が構成するチャネル列の他端側の該チャネル列の外側に位置して設けられている。インク排出管5cの上端側は、インク回収管5bに合流している。インク回収管5bとインク排出管5cとは、バッファ空間部6に接続されることによって合流している。
 導入路425及び個別インク循環路26a、26aから、共通インク循環路421、排出チャネル424、排出孔31b、インク排出室412及びインク排出管5cを経て、バッファ空間部6に至る流路が、循環路423となる。循環路423は、導入路425及びインクチャネル23に連通し、これら導入路425及びインクチャネル23内のインクを排出させ、バッファ空間部6においてインク回収管5bに合流させる流路である。循環路423は、ノズル22近傍の個別インク循環路26a、26aからインクを排出し、このインクをインクチャネル23への注入経路に戻すものであればよい。導入孔31c及び各注入孔31aを経て、循環路423に至る流路が、副流路F2となる。
 本発明の印刷物製造方法では、インクジェット方式において、ノズル22のメニスカスを振動周波数1kHz以上で常時揺らすことが好ましい。このようにメニスカスを揺動させることによって、ガスバリア性のばらつきが小さい塗膜を形成しやすくなる。このメカニズムは、明確には分かっていないが、メニスカス揺動によって、吐出時のセルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の凝集が抑制され、塗膜が均一かつ緻密になりやすいためだと推察される。
 「常時揺らす」とは、プリンタを起動した後、インク吐出のパルスが入力される直前までメニスカスを揺らすことをいう。
 ノズル22のメニスカスは、インクが吐出しない程度に圧電素子24を振動させることによって、揺らすことができる。
 ノズル22のメニスカスを揺らす際には、安定吐出のために、定期的なインクの吐き捨てやインクの循環と組み合わせることが、更に好ましい。
 インクの塗布は、基材の全面に行ってもよいが、パターニングして行ってもよい。本発明の印刷物製造方法におけるインクの塗布は、インクジェット方式であることによって、容易にパターニングが可能となる。
 上記工程によって形成された塗膜を乾燥させることで、ガスバリア性を有する塗膜を得ることができる。塗膜の乾燥は、自然乾燥でもよく、乾燥手段を用いた乾燥でもよい。乾燥手段は、公知の乾燥手段を制限なく用いることができる。乾燥手段の例には、電気乾燥炉、熱風循環式の乾燥炉、遠赤外線による加熱と熱風循環を併用した乾燥炉、加熱しながら減圧できる減圧乾燥炉が挙げられる。電気乾燥炉は、自然対流式であっても、強制対流式であってもよい。塗膜の乾燥後の厚さは、特に制限されないが、例えば0.1~5μmの範囲内である。
 本発明のインクを用いて形成した塗膜は、各種のガス、例えば大気中に含まれる酸素、水蒸気、窒素、二酸化炭素等に対するバリア性が高く、特に酸素に対するバリア性が高い。
 本発明のインクを用いて形成した塗膜のガスバリア性は、当該塗膜が形成された基材のガス透過度を測定することで評価できる。例えば塗膜の酸素バリア性は、当該塗膜が形成された基材の酸素透過度[cm3/(m2・day・atm)]を測定することにより、評価できる。酸素透過度の測定は、例えば酸素透過度測定装置MOCON(OX-TRAN2/21、モダンコントロール社製)を用いて、25℃・50%RHの雰囲気下で行う。
 本発明のインクジェットインクは、ガスバリア性を有する包材に特に好適に利用できる。以下、本発明のインクジェットインクを利用した包材を例に、本発明の利用例を説明する。なお、以下の説明は、包材に限らず、他の印刷物にも関する。
 従来、ガスバリア性を有する包材の設計は、ガスバリア層の上に更に機能層を付与した積層構造での設計が一般的である。これに対し、本発明のインクジェットインクを用いた場合、ガスバリア性を有する塗膜をパターニングして形成することにより、ガスバリア性と他の機能を同じ層に付与することができる。
 各領域のパターニングの条件は、最終的な包材設計、各領域に付与する機能の種類、各領域に要求される機能の程度の強さ等に応じて、適宜調整され得る。パターニングの条件には、例えば各領域の面積、各領域の形状、各領域における材料の付き量等が含まれる。パターニングは、複数の領域が部分的に積層構造となるように行われてもよい。
 例えば酸素バリア性等を備える包材の場合の、従来の包材と、本発明を活用して製造した包材とを、図を用いて比較する。図4は、従来の包材の層構成の概略図である。図4に示す包材は、基材50、印刷層51、オーバーコート層52、酸素バリア層53、接着層54、及び被着材56を有する。オーバーコート層52は、印刷層51を保護する。被着材56には、例えばヒートシール性を有するポリエチレンフィルム等を用いることができる。これに対し、図5は、本発明のインクを用いて製造した包材の層構成の概略図である。図5に示す包材は、酸素バリア層53及び接着層54の代わりに、複合層55を有する。複合層55には、酸素バリア性を有する領域55aと接着性を有する領域55bとが、各領域のパターニングにより形成されている。
 このように、本発明のインクジェットインクを用いることによって、積層数が少なく、シンプルで環境に良い包材が設計可能となる。
 ガスバリア性と同時に付与可能な他の機能としては、包材に一般的に要求される機能が挙げられる。他の機能の例としては、着色、密着性、ヒートシール性、イージーピール性、防曇、耐熱、耐油、防汚性、撥液性、撥水性、親水性、非吸着性、帯電防止性、紫外線カット性、ラミネート性、耐スクラッチ性、ハードコート性、調湿性、導電性、絶縁性、接着性等が挙げられる。
 これらの他の機能は、ガスバリア性の付与の前工程及び後工程のどちらで付与されてもよい。例えば、あらかじめ他の機能を付与した基材にガスバリア性を後から付与してもよいし、ガスバリア性を付与した基材に他の機能を付与してもよい。これらの工程の順序は、求められるガスバリア包材の設計に応じて自由に変更できる。
 他の機能は、その機能に応じた材料を、蒸着法、スパッタ法、塗布法等の一般的な方法で塗工することによって付与できる。容易にパターニングができる観点からは、他の機能は、その機能に応じた材料を、インクジェット方式によって塗工することが好ましい。
 本発明のインクと併せて、各種機能を付与するためのインクを準備し、いずれのインクもインクジェット方式で印刷することで、同一基材への複数の機能付与をより簡便に行える。
 以下、実施例を挙げて本発明を具体的に説明するが、本発明はこれらに限定されるものではない。なお、下記実施例において、特記しない限り、操作は室温(25℃)で行われた。また、特記しない限り、「%」及び「部」は、それぞれ、「質量%」及び「質量部」を意味する。
<実施例1>
 実施例1では、インク組成やインクジェット条件を変更して、インクジェット適正評価及び塗膜評価を行った。
[インク成分]
 インクの調製に使用した成分は以下のとおりである。
(セルロースナノファイバー)
・セレンピアTC-01A 1%水分散体(商品名、日本製紙社製、セルロースナノファイバー、平均幅3~4nm、平均長さ0.8μm、アスペクト比200)
・セレンピアTC-02X 5%水分散体(商品名、日本製紙社製、セルロースナノファイバー、平均幅3~4nm、平均長さ0.4μm、アスペクト比100)
(層状化合物)
・ラポナイトRD(商品名、ビッグケミー社製、スメクタイト粘土鉱物、平均厚さ0.92nm、平均長径25nm、アスペクト比27)
・スメクトンST(商品名、クニミネ工業社製、合成スチブンサイト、厚さ約1.0nm、サイズ30-50nm、アスペクト比30-50)
・クニピア-F(商品名、クニミネ工業社製、天然ベントナイトの生成品、厚さ約1.0nm、サイズ300-500nm、アスペクト比300-500)
(界面活性剤)
・TEGOWET250(商品名、エボニック社製、シロキサン系化合物)
(水溶性樹脂)
・5-98(商品名、クラレ社製、ポリビニルアルコール)
(中和剤)
・クエン酸1水和物(富士フイルム和光純薬社製)
(分散剤)
・二りん酸ナトリウム十水和物(別名:ピロリン酸ナトリウム、富士フイルム和光純薬社製)

・プロピレングリコール(沸点:188℃)
[ポリビニルアルコール水溶液の調製]
 5gのポリビニルアルコール(5-98、クラレ社製)をビーカーに量り採り、500gの純水を加えた。これを100℃に加熱し、溶解させ、ポリビニルアルコールの1%水溶液を得た。
[層状化合物の水分散体の調製]
 500rpmで回転するプロペラで純水100gを攪拌しながら、ここに粉末状のスメクトンSTを添加した。これを室温で30分攪拌し、スメクトンSTの5%水分散体を得た。
 500rpmで回転するプロペラで純水100gを攪拌しながら、ここに粉末状のラポナイトRDを添加した。これを室温で30分攪拌し、ラポナイトRDの5%水分散体を得た。
 500rpmで回転するプロペラで純水100gを攪拌しながら、ここに粉末状のクニピアFを添加した。これを室温で30分攪拌し、クニピアFの5%水分散体を得た。
[インクジェットインクの調製]
 以下の手順で、下記表に示す組成の各インクジェットインクを調製した。下記表に示す含有量[質量%]は、当該成分として分散液又は溶液を用いた場合は、当該分散液又は溶液が含有する固形分の含有量を示す。例えば、実施例1-1における、セレンピアTC-01Aについては、分散媒である水を除いたセルロースナノファイバー自体の含有量が、0.8質量%である。
(実施例1-1~1-10、1-13、比較例1-2~1-8用のインク)
 各成分を、下記表に示す組成となるように混合した。これらのインクの調製では、層状化合物の混合に、上述の層状化合物の水分散体を用いた。得られた混合液を1μmのフィルターにより濾過して、インクを得た。
(実施例1-11、1-12、比較例1-9用のインク)
 各成分を、下記表に示す組成となるように混合した。なお、実施例1-11、1-12、及び比較例1-9用のインクは、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の合計含有量が、比較的多い。そのため、これらのインクの調製では、含有量の調整のために、層状化合物の水分散体は使用せず、セルロースナノファイバーの水分散体に層状化合物の粉体を直接投入した。これを攪拌し、得られた混合液を1μmのフィルターにより濾過して、インクを得た。
(実施例1-14~1-18用のインク)
 各成分を、下記表に示す組成となるように混合した。なお、プロピレングリコールは、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の各水分散体を混合した後に添加した。これを攪拌し、得られた混合液を1μmのフィルターにより濾過して、インクを得た。
(実施例1-19~1-27用のインク)
 各成分を、下記表に示す組成となるように混合した。なお、中和剤及び分散剤は、層状化合物の水分散体に対して添加し、30分攪拌した後、セルロースナノファイバーの水分散体と混合した。実施例1-23及び1-24のように、中和剤と分散剤を併用するインクでは、層状化合物の水分散体に対して先に分散剤を添加して攪拌し、その後に中和剤を添加し、その後に層状化合物の水分散体とセルロースナノファイバーの水分散体とを混合した。これを攪拌し、得られた混合液を1μmのフィルターにより濾過して、インクを得た。
(実施例1-28用のインク)
 各成分を、下記表に示す組成となるように混合した。なお、ポリビニルアルコール分散液は、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の各水分散体を混合した後に添加した。これを攪拌し、得られた混合液を1μmのフィルターにより濾過して、インクを得た。
[インクの物性の評価]
 上記で得たインクについて、25℃における、せん断速度1000(1/s)時の粘度及びpHを測定した。結果を下記表に示す。粘度は、アントンパール社製、MCR-102を用いて測定した。
[インクジェット適正の評価]
 上記で得たインクについて、以下の方法で、(A1)インクジェット吐出性評価、(A2)オープンタイム評価、及び(A3)ヘッドのマテリアル・コンパチビリティ評価を行った。
 画像形成装置には、トライテック社製のインクジェットプリンターを用いた。インクジェットヘッドには、コニカミノルタ製のKM1024aLHG-RCを用いた。当該インクジェットヘッドは、2以上の循環路によりヘッド内でインクを循環する機構を有する。実施例1-13、及び1-15~1-28に関しては、ノズルのメニスカスを1kHzで常時揺らしながら印刷を行った。比較例1-1は、インクを用いていないため、インクジェット適正は未評価である。評価結果は下記表に示すとおりである。
 比較例1-1では、インクを用いていない。そのため、インクジェット適正評価について、比較例1-1の評価結果はない。
(A1)インクジェット吐出性評価
 基材には、厚さ125μmのポリエチレンテレフタラートフィルム(PETフィルム、フタムラ化学社製)を用いた。当該基材の上に、ベタ状及び直線状の画像を、720×720dpiで印刷した。ベタ状の画像におけるスジの状態と、直線状の画像における直線の状態と、を以下の基準により評価した。
AA:ベタ状の画像にスジがなく、直線状の画像にガタツキがない。
A :ベタ状の画像にスジがなく、直線状の画像の一部にガタツキがある。
B :ベタ状の画像にスジがあり、直線状の画像に抜けがある。
C :インクジェット吐出ができておらず、画像が印刷できていない。
(A2)オープンタイム評価
 インクジェットプリンターにインクを充填後、装置を開放系にしたまま1時間放置した。その後、(A1)と同様の評価を行い、ノズル欠の発生による吐出性の低下が発生していないかを確認した。
(A3)ヘッドのマテリアル・コンパチビリティ評価
 各インクに対し、インクジェットヘッドに用いている部材を浸漬し、マテリアル・コンパチビリティを以下の基準により評価した。
A:全ての部材に問題が見られない。
B:一部の部材に問題が見られる。
[塗膜の評価]
 上記で得たインクを用いて形成した塗膜について、以下の方法で、(B1)塗膜の透明性評価、及び(B2)塗膜の酸素バリア性評価を行った。
 基材には、厚さ125μmのポリエチレンテレフタラートフィルム(PETフィルム、フタムラ化学社製)を用いた。当該基材の上に、(A1)におけるベタ状の画像の印刷と同条件で、塗膜を印刷した。塗膜は、乾燥厚さが0.6μm、面積が100mm×100mmとなるように印刷した。印刷後、塗膜を乾燥させ、塗膜が形成されたフィルムを作製した。塗膜が形成されたフィルムは、各インクに対し、5枚ずつ作製した。なお、実施例1-13、及び1-15~1-28に関しては、ノズルのメニスカスを1kHzで常時揺らしながら印刷を行った。評価結果は下記表に示すとおりである。
 比較例1-1では、インクを用いていない。そのため、塗膜評価について、下記表に記載の比較例1-1の評価結果は、塗膜を形成していない基材における評価結果である。
(B1)塗膜のヘイズ評価
 各実施例等で得られたフィルムをそのまま測定用の試料として用いて、各塗膜のヘイズ値を求めた。測定装置には、日本電色工業株式会社製の商品名「ヘーズメーターNDH-4000」を用いた。
(B2)塗膜の酸素バリア性評価
 塗膜が形成されたフィルムの酸素透過度[cm3/(m2・day・atm)]を測定した。当該測定には、酸素透過度測定装置MOCON(OX-TRAN2/21、モダンコントロール社製)を用いた。当該測定は、25℃・50%RHの雰囲気下で行った。当該測定は、各条件で5枚ずつのフィルムで行った。測定した酸素透過度の平均値と標準偏差を算出した。

 比較例1-2~1-6の結果から、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の合計含有量が1質量%未満であるインクを用いた場合にはガスバリア性がほとんど発現しないことが分かる。この原因として、以下の2つが考えられる。
[1]セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の合計含有量が1質量%未満では、インクジェット方式での吐出性が優れず、均一なガスバリア膜を形成できないため。
[2]セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の合計含有量が1質量%未満では、乾燥前の塗膜を比較的厚くする必要があり、乾燥負荷が大きくなり、均一なガスバリア膜を形成できないため。
 比較例1-7及び1-8の結果から、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物いずれか一方しか含有しないインクを用いた場合ではガスバリア性がほとんど発現しないことが分かる。これは、大きなガスバリア性の発現には、層状化合物をセルロースナノファイバーがバインダーとなってナノシート化させることが重要であるためと考えられる。
 比較例1-9の結果から、せん断速度1000(1/s)時の粘度が100mPa・sを超えているインクではインクジェット方式で吐出できずに塗膜を形成できないことが分かる。
 実施例1-1~1-28の結果から、セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物の含有量を1質量%以上にし、かつ、せん断速度1000(1/s)時の粘度を100mPa・s以下に制御することにより、インクジェット吐出性と塗膜のガスバリア性を両立できていることが分かる。
 実施例1-14~1-18の結果から、親水性有機溶剤を10~20質量%添加することにより、ガスバリア性を落とすことなく、インクジェット吐出性とオープンタイム評価を改善できていることが分かる。
 実施例1-19~1-21の結果から、分散剤の添加による更なるガスバリア性の向上が確認できる。実施例1-22~1-27の結果から、中和剤又は中和剤兼分散剤を添加することにより、インクのpHが下げり、マテリアル・コンパチビリティを改善できていることが分かる。
 実施例1-23~1-27の結果から、中和による層状化合物の分散性低下による塗膜透明性低下の問題に対し、分散剤又は中和剤兼分散剤を用いることにより、塗膜の透明性を改善できていることが分かる。
 実施例1-28の結果から、中和剤兼分散剤を含有するインクに更に水溶性樹脂を含有させることにより、酸素バリア性が更に向上していることが分かる。
 実施例1-13及び1-15~1-28の結果から、1kHzのメニスカス揺動により、ガスバリア性のばらつきが小さい塗膜を形成できていることが分かる。
<実施例2>
 実施例2では、基材を変更して、実施例1と同様の塗膜評価を行った。インクには、実施例1-23用のインクを用いた。評価結果は下記表に示すとおりである。

 実施例2-2で製造した印刷物は、防曇性に加え、ガスバリア性が付与されていた。
 実施例2の結果から、本発明のインクは様々な種類の基材に対してガスバリア性を付与できること、及び本発明のインクを用いることで複数の機能を有する印刷物が簡便に製造できることが分かる。
 この発明は、インクジェットインク及び印刷物製造方法に利用できる。

Claims (6)

  1.  基材上に塗膜を形成するためのインクジェットインクであって、
     ガスバリア膜形成用であり、
     セルロースナノファイバーと層状化合物とを含有し、
     前記セルロースナノファイバーと前記層状化合物の合計含有量が、1質量%以上であり、
     せん断速度1000(1/S)時の25℃における粘度が、100mPa・s以下である
     インクジェットインク。
  2.  沸点200℃以下の親水性有機溶剤を5~30質量%の範囲内で含有する
     請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
  3.  中和剤を含有し、
     25℃におけるpHが、5~10の範囲内である
     請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
  4.  前記層状化合物の分散剤を含有する
     請求項1に記載のインクジェットインク。
  5.  インクジェットインクを用いた印刷物製造方法であって、
     基材に、請求項1から請求項4までのいずれか一項に記載のインクジェットインクをインクジェット方式で吐出し、塗膜を形成する工程を有する
     印刷物製造方法。
  6.  前記インクジェット方式において、ノズルのメニスカスを1kHz以上で常時揺らす
     請求項5に記載の印刷物製造方法。
